One night stand with my president(chapter 462)

Chapter 462:  What's the Point of This?

Adeline silently patted the back of his hand.

She couldn't offer any comfort in this situation.

The only thing she could do was stay by his side.

However, despite his sadness, Harrison quickly regained his composure.

He didn't bring up Edward again but instead started talking to Adeline about going out for roasted lamb that evening.

"I've already made a reservation," Adeline said.

"We'll go with the executive office team. Of course, it's after work, so those who want to come can join, and those who don't, it's fine."

Harrison nodded.

Though it was meant to be a team-bonding event, they didn't want to force anyone to attend.

It was all voluntary.

When they arrived at the company, Adeline informed the executive office staff about the team-bonding event.

Aside from two people who couldn't make it, everyone else eagerly agreed to join.

Though they were a little intimidated by Harrison, they felt more at ease with Adeline around.

For some reason, everyone felt like as long as Adeline was there, they didn't have to fear Harrison.

And with free roasted lamb, who would say no? The restaurant Adeline had booked was a farmhouse, and after work, the staff headed over together.

Once there, they ate, drank, and chatted, momentarily forgetting about work and enjoying . themselves.

Even Harrison, who normally intimidated them, appeared approachable and friendly.

Everyone watched in awe as Harrison poured Adeline a drink, cut her pieces of lamb, and kept asking if she needed tissues, showing an endless amount of care.

They were all stunned.

"Could Mr. Thomson really be like this?”

"And the one receiving all this care was

Adeline..."

"Could it be that they were actually together?"

The gossip began to spread like wildfire.

They didn't dare ask Harrison or Adeline directly.

So, they secretly cornered Anna to ask.

Anna, however, could only vaguely say she wasn't sure.

This only fueled everyone's curiosity even more.

Adeline went to the bathroom.

Originally, Harrison was going to accompany her, but just then, a colleague came over to offer Harrison a drink.

Adeline thought it was just a quick bathroom visit and didn't need anyone to accompany her, so she went by herself.

When she came out of the bathroom, she unexpectedly saw a male colleague leaning against the wall, smoking.

It was Waylon Collier, and Adeline remembered he joined the executive office about two years ago.

As soon as Waylon saw Adeline come out of the bathroom, he quickly snuffed out his cigarette and threw it into the nearby trash can.

"Miss Hensley," he called out to her.

Adeline thought he was just there to smoke, so she smiled and nodded, preparing to go back.

But to her surprise, Waylon suddenly said, "Miss Hensley, there's something want to talk to you about."

Adeline was a bit confused but still said, "Go ahead."

Waylon looked at her, his ears turning slightly red.

"Miss Hensley, do you... have a boyfriend?"

Adeline was taken aback.

She didn't expect him to ask such a question.

She thought it would be something work-related.

Before she could respond, Waylon hurriedly continued, "Actually, I've been holding this in for a long time... I like you... I've liked you ever since I joined the executive office."

When Adeline heard this, she felt a chill run down her spine.

If Harrison heard this, it would be a huge problem.

"I'm sorry," Adeline said. "I already have a boyfriend."

Waylon's eyes showed a flash of disappointment.

"I see."

After a pause, Waylon continued, "If you don't mind me asking, is your boyfriend Mr.

Thomson?"

Adeline thought for a moment and nodded slightly.

She and Harrison were indeed together.

At this point, denying it wouldn't be appropriate.

She didn't want Waylon to feel too burdened, so she added, "What you said earlier, I'll pretend I didn't hear. Just continue working in the executive office. No need to feel any pressure."

To her surprise, Waylon suddenly showed a frustrated expression.

"Miss Hensley, are you really happy with Mr.

Thomson?"

Adeline felt something was off and furrowed her brows, asking, "What do you mean?"

"Mr. Thomson may be rich, but being with someone like him must come with a lot of pressure, right?" Waylon's tone was a bit sarcastic. "Miss Hensley, what's the point of this?"

When she heard this, Adeline's face darkened.

She understood exactly what Waylon was implying.

He was clearly mocking her, insinuating that she was with Harrison for his money.

"Waylon, I've always been polite to you," Adeline said coldly. "There's no need for you to be sarcastic in front of me."

As she tried to walk away, Waylon blocked her path.

His eyes were red, and he looked quite displeased.

"I've liked you for over two years and been sincere to you. That's not enough compared to Mr. Thomson's money? Miss Hensley, aren't you afraid that one day he'll get bored of you and dump you?"

Adeline was speechless.

"Who told you that I'm with him for his money?"

"Isn't it obvious? You women are all the same, gold-diggers and hypocrites. If I were in his position..."

Before he could finish, heavy footsteps approached from behind.

Waylon stiffened.

He turned around to see Harrison walking toward them.

Harrison's expression was neutral, but it was impossible to tell whether he was upset.

Still, Waylon couldn't help but feel his legs tremble in fear.

"Mr. Thomson..."

Harrison walked straight to Adeline, gently pulling her behind him.

He then fixed his gaze on Waylon and said, "Go on. Keep talking."

Waylon didn't dare say another word.

He was drenched in sweat.

Earlier, hearing Adeline say she already had a boyfriend, and that her boyfriend was Harrison, made him insanely jealous.

That's why he couldn't hold his tongue and said those things.

"Don't feel like talking anymore?" Harrison's expression grew colder.

"Mr. Thomson, I... I'm sorry." Waylon stuttered, "I got carried away. I was impulsive. I..."

"Mm, good excuse," Adeline said sarcastically.

What was this nonsense about being impulsive?

Looking at what Waylon said, it was clear he had no respect for women.

When he heard that she was with Harrison, his first reaction was to assume it was for the money.

Then he said things like, "you women"...

He thought that if a woman didn't like him, it must be because she was materialistic.

It was sickening.

Usually, Waylon seemed so composed.

But this was his true face.

Harrison said, "Waylon, who gave you the guts to insult my girlfriend, to insult me?"
