One night stand with my president(chapter 408)

Chapter 408: The Phone Is On

That evening, Desmond cooked a large batch of roasted chicken.

With his culinary skills, he managed to make the chicken golden, juicy, and irresistibly fragrant.

The two guards who came to pick up the food couldn't help but salivate as soon as they entered the kitchen.

"So many roasted chickens tonight?" one of the guards asked. "What's the occasion?"

"It's nothing special," Desmond chuckled.

"We just got a lot of chickens today. I was worried they'd go bad, so I thought l'd cook them all up. You guys can have two each, enjoy yourselves!"

Yesterday, Adeline had told Jessica she wanted roasted chicken.

And Benjamin had ordered that Adeline must be well taken care of when it came to food and accommodation.

The person responsible for bringing the food rushed to deliver a large batch of chicken once he heard the request.

"Aren't these chickens for her?" one of the

guards frowned. "You're giving them to us? Aren't you worried..."

"Ah, I already gave her two. How much can she eat? Two chickens aren't enough? Don't worry about it. Oh, and I secretly grabbed a few bottles of wine too. Let's all have a drink together."

The mention of wine made the two guards even happier.

One of them slapped Desmond on the back and said, "You're a good man, thanks."

"With all this chicken and wine, you two won't be able to carry it all. Let me come with you and help deliver it," Desmond offered.

He had already cooked extra food the day before and helped deliver it.

After delivering the meal, he had left.

So, when Desmond said this today, they didn't suspect anything.

"Alright, let's go."

Each guard grabbed a roasted chicken and a bottle of wine, and they headed to the row of

houses where the guards lived.

The guards usually ate outside on the lawn.

"We could smell the food from far away. What'd you bring back?"

"Roasted chicken. And wine."

"Wow, today's a good day!"

Since arriving here, the guards had been eating very simple meals.

The roasted chickens, to them, were a real treat.

And to top it off, there was wine.

"Wine? Can we really drink?"

"A little won't hurt. You guys go guard the front. I'll have someone relieve you later," the head of the guards said to the others.

Although a couple of them were a little unhappy, they knew better than to let their guard down too much. So, they reluctantly moved to the front to keep watch.

Desmond peered into the house.

Then, with a smile, he said, "You guys enjoy. I'm actually a little jealous. When I get back to the kitchen, I'll probably be stuck eating leftovers."

"You didn't save yourself any chicken? Come on, join us and eat," one of the guards invited warmly.

"Ah... really?"

"Of course, come on. Eat with us."

These guards were only following Benjamin's orders to make sure Desmond didn't leave.

But they didn't have any ill will toward him.

Desmond was waiting for this opportunity.

After some polite refusals, he sat down and joined them for a meal.

After a few bites, he suddenly grabbed his stomach and said, "Ow, my stomach hurts. I need to use the bathroom. Where's your toilet?"

"There's a bathroom inside, you can go."

Desmond held his stomach and walked into one of the rooms.

He took a quick glance out the window.

The guards were busy eating, drinking, and chatting-none of them were paying attention to him.

The guards outside at the main gate wouldn't notice him either.

He quickly scanned the room.

Sure enough, on the bedside table, he spotted a charger.

Without checking the model, he quickly grabbed it and slipped it into his coat pocket.

Fearing he might be caught, he stayed in the bathroom for a while before coming out.

Afterward, he took another quick look around the room.

He didn't spot any other chargers or power banks.

He couldn't afford to linger too long-he needed to leave before anyone noticed.

So, after a final glance, he stepped out of the room.

Suddenly, one of the guards cracked a joke, and everyone burst out laughing, which startled Desmond.

Luckily, he quickly regained his composure.

He did his best to act casual, sitting back down and joining them in drinking and eating.

After a while, he stood up, saying, "I have to go back. The lady's been in a bad mood lately. I'm not sure when she'll come up with a new demand. If she finds out I'm gone, she'll be angry."

"Alright, thanks for helping out. You can head back."

Desmond's heart was racing, but he held it together as he turned and headed back to the candy house.

He went straight to his room, grabbed the dead phone, and then went to the dining room.

Adeline was sitting at the table, eating.

Jessica was standing nearby.

As Jessica wasn't paying attention, Desmond subtly gave Adeline an "OK" sign.

Adeline immediately understood.

She took a moment to gather herself, then suddenly swept all the dishes and bowls in front of her onto the floor.

Jessica jumped back in shock.

"Miss Hensley, what's wrong?"

"This is disgusting!" Adeline shouted, pointing at Desmond. "You served me this disgusting food. Are you trying to kill me?"

"What are you talking about? No one can die from bad food. And my roasted chicken? It's perfect!" Desmond shouted.

Jessica sighed as she watched them argue again.

These past few days, Adeline and Desmond had been constantly bickering.

She was used to it by now.

As she went to clean up the mess, Desmond took the opportunity to pass the phone and charger to Adeline.

Adeline quickly hid them in her pocket.

She did her best to calm her racing heart and said, "I can't eat this. I'm going to the study to read. Jessica, tell everyone not to disturb me."

With that, she stormed up the stairs.

Desmond watched her go, his fists clenched tightly.

His mission was complete.

Now, everything was in Adeline's hands.

Once in the study, Adeline locked the door behind her.

She took the phone and charger out of her pocket.

The charger wasn't the one meant for Desmond's phone, but it fit.

Adeline let out a sigh of relief.

She quickly plugged it into the socket and connected it to the phone.

It powered on.

The phone took only a few seconds to start up, but to Adeline, it felt like an eternity.

Luckily, Desmond's phone wasn't password-protected.

Once it was on, Adeline immediately dialed Harrison's number.

In the hotel, Kira had just opened her room door when she saw the door across from hers open.

"Miss Goodwin, where are you going?" Cody asked, his gaze fixed on her. Kira snapped, "Are you crazy? Why are you always watching me?"
