Chapter 442: Moving In
Harrison had stayed with Adeline in Yewhaina for over a month.
But it hadn't just been a month of relaxation-they carved out time each day to handle work remotely, keeping tabs on company matters online.
Though it wasn't quite as convenient as being at the office daily, the Thomson Group was already a well-oiled machine. A brief absence wouldn't cause any real disruption.
Spring had warmed the city by then.
During that time, Sam had taken Joyce to see the aurora borealis.
Naturally, Callan had followed them there.
But with security guards watching his every move, Callan never had the chance to get close.
He could only trail them from afar like an unwanted shadow.
But neither Sam nor Joyce cared.
If anything, it only made their trip more relaxing, they could simply pretend he didn't
exist. The only one suffering from this awkward cat-and-mouse game was Callan himself.
They remained still, but Jamarion couldn't.
Worried that Callan might snap and do something reckless, he eventually sent people to drag him back.
Not long after, Adeline and Harrison returned to Orianto.
As soon as eir plane landed, Myra was already waiting at the airport.
It had been over two months since they last saw each other.
And though Adeline couldn't quite pinpoint what had changed, she could feel it-Myra's entire presence seemed subtly different.
She was more at ease and happier. Her smile alone said she'd been doing well.
To welcome them back, Myra took them out for dinner.
During the meal, she casually brought up Edward.
"He came to see me," she said in a tone so light it was almost indifferent.
Harrison's brow immediately furrowed. "What did he want?"
Myra said, "He asked if I could convince Lorenzo to let his current wife into the Thomson family."
The way she said it-calm, detached -made it clear she was truly over him. It sounded like she was talking abou a stranger's life, not her own.
Harrison, on the other hand, didn't take it nearly as well. His face darkened.
Edward still had the nerve to come crawling back and ask Myra for favors?
Adeline noticed Harrison's reaction and gently ran her fingers over the back of his hand, silently reminding him to stay calm.
"I turned him down, of course," Myra said with a soft smile. "Told him his affairs have nothing to do with me anymore, and that he should stop bothering me."
To his credit, Edward hadn't pushed the matter.
Maybe even he realized how ridiculous it was to make such a request.
After being firmly rejected, he left quietly.
After dinner, Myra handed Adeline a small box.
Surprised, Adeline looked up. "Myra, this is...”
"My mother left it to me," Myra said as she opened the box.
Inside, there was an exquisite emerald bracelet. The stone glee with a gentle warmth, its quality unmistakably top-tier.
"Now it's yours," Myra said with a warm smile.
Adeline was stunned. This wasn't just a gift-it was a deeply personal heirloom. She could feel her heart pounding. "Myra, I... This was your mother's..."
"I hope you'll accept it," Myra said sincerely.
"I won't claim I can treat you like my own daughter just yet... but I can promise to try-to do my best to be a good mother to you."
With words like that, Adeline could no longer refuse.
She was touched, truly.
If nothing else, it showed that Myra had opened her heart to her.
"Thank you," Adeline said, her voice soft.
Myra's smile deepened. She personally fastened the bracelet around Adeline's wrist.
On the way home, Adeline couldn't stop glancing at the bracelet.
"You really like it, huh?" Harrison asked, smiling.
"I do," she said honestly. "It's beautiful... and it means a lot."
"I'm glad," he replied. "One day, you can pass it down to our daughter."
"Mm..." Adeline hummed instinctively-then her eyes widened as she processed what he'd just said.
She shot him a glare. "Who said anything about having a daughter with you?"
"No daughter?" Harrison frowned. "So you want a son instead? Wow. Gender bias? That's disappointing."
"You—!" Adeline couldn't help but laugh.
She didn't mean that.
If she ever had a child, she'd love nothing more than to have a soft, sweet little girl calling her Mommy.
But clearly, Harrison was playing dumb on purpose.
Still, she'd on y said it to be playful.
In truth, there was no one else she could imagine building a future with but him.
And Harrison? He was already picturing their daughter in vivid detail.
"She'd definitely look more like you," he mused dreamily. "Maybe like a miniature version of you."
Adeline, unintentionally drawn into the fantasy, smiled. "What if she looks more like you?"
"That works too," Harrison said. "Our genes are excellent either way."
Adeline laughed. "You're so full of yourself."
"I'm just being honest."
"How did I not realize you were this narcissistic before?"
"Oh, there's plenty about me you ve yet to discover."
The way he said it was casual... but Adeline caught the underlying tone and felt her cheeks heat up.
To cover it, she gave his thigh a sharp pinch.
Their car pulled into the Shurford Residence.
When they arrived downstairs, Adeline got out-only to spot another car nearby.
Standing by it was Rowen, who waved at her with a bright smile.
"Rowen?" Adeline called. "What are you doing here?"
"I brought Mr. Thomson's luggage," Rowen said cheerfully.
Adeline blinked and thought, "Luggage?
Harrison's luggage? Why was Harrison's luggage being brought here?"
She turned to shoot him a look-calm but deadly.
Harrison was in without even telling her.
Harrison pretended not to notice her expression.
Instead, he said to Rowen, "Bring it all upstairs."
"Got it." Rowen quickly began directing several movers.
Adeline gave Harrison a swift kick. "Who said you could move in?"
"I did," Harrison replied with zero shame.
"I'm your boyfriend."
"You..." Adeline was momentarily speechless at his audacity.
Wait a second. She'd just remembered something important.
This apartment... belonged to Harrison.
Technically, she didn't even have the authority to tell him not to move in.
She sighed and thought, "Forget it. Let him do what he wants."
Besides, a part of her-though she'd never admit it aloud-was a little excited at the thought of living together.
With the help of the elevator, it didn't take long for the movers to carry everything upstairs.
Once Rowen gave the all-clear, he led the team out, leaving the two of them alone again.
Without hesitation, Harrison walked into her room and started filling her closet with his clothes.
Toiletries and personal items were neatly arranged in the bathroom.
