Chapter 387: Where Is Adeline?
Pedro's heart skipped a beat.
But he had expected this moment, so he remained calm and composed as he stepped forward.
"Isaac, you called for me?"
He walked up to Isaac, lowering his head, as though saddened by Adeline's disappearance.
Isaac stared at him for a moment before suddenly asking, "Where is Adeline?"
Pedro froze inside.
He hadn't expected Isaac to ask him so directly.
He had anticipated Isaac's suspicions, but this was too much-how could Isaac accuse him without evidence?
"Isaac, how would I know where Adeline is?"
Pedro feigned surprise. "I know she's gone missing from our home, and I can imagine how angry you must be. I'll do everything I can to help you find her..."
But Isaac had no patience for his words.
He grabbed Pedro by the collar, his voice cold and commanding, "I'm asking you, where is Adeline?"
This action made Fletcher lose his composure.
"Isaac, Adeline is missing from our house. We will take full responsibility. As head of the Livingston family, you can yell or hit me, I'll accept it. But please, let go of my son. He's innocent."
"Innocent?"
Isaac's eyes were filled with deadly fury.
His gaze never left Pedro as he sneered.
"You say he's innocent? I don't believe you. The Livingston family isn't without guards, and today's event was a grand one, with extra security. How could a living person go missing in your house? Do you expect me to believe it just happened by chance?"
Fletcher stood there speechless, unable to answer.
Isaac's words made too much sense.
And who else could have planned this if not someone from the Livingston family?
Fletcher suddenly remembered. They hadn't originally planned any anniversary celebration. It was Pedro who had suggested it, claiming that with the Mendoza family finally finding their beloved daughter, they should host a celebration to honor the occasion.
It seemed like a good idea at the time.
And so, the party was held.
But now that he thought about it, Pedro never involved himself in the family's affairs.
Why would he suddenly push for this event?
"Could it be that he was plotting to take advantage of Adeline?" Litzy, too, started to feel the unease settling in.
Pedro had called her up to the study earlier, claiming there was something urgent.
But when she arrived, he couldn't articulate what he needed, dragging her on without letting her leave the room.
And those few women had said it was she who had arranged for Adeline to be taken away ...
In that instant, both Fletcher and Litzy felt a chill run down their spines.
They both wished they could vanish into thin air.
They thought, "How dare Pedro be so bold to target the Mendoza family's heiress?"
The Mendoza family would never forgive the Livingston family now.
This would likely lead to an irreparable rift, perhaps even a bitter feud.
Gracie, noticing the change in Fletcher and Litzy's expressions, knew they'd realized something was terribly wrong.
Her lips trembled as she walked up to Pedro and slapped him across the face.
"Pedro, I've watched you grow up. Have I ever been unkind to you? Even though I didn't allow you to be with my daughter, you still can't go and kidnap her. I'm giving you one last chance tell me right now. Where is Adeline?"
Pedro was thrown off, his confidence faltering for the first time.
He'd planned to make Adeline his, thinking he could handle any situation.
But now, with everything closing in on him, he panicked.
"I truly don't know," Pedro stubbornly said.
"But I'll help look for her..."
Before he could finish, Alberto struck him with a punch.
"Pedro, listen to me. If anything happens to Adeline, I will never let you go," Alberto growled, his fists clenched, his face darkened with rage.
He regretted it deeply now, He should have stayed by Adeline's side in the first place.
It wasn't his fault. No one would have imagined that someone would dare hurt Adeline in such a crowded place as the Livingston estate.
But still, he blamed himself.
If only he hadn't followed Connie out, if he'd stayed in the living room, maybe... just maybe, Adeline wouldn't have gone missing.
"Gracie, please calm down," Litzy said, her face pale. "I promise we'll find Adeline."
"Promise?" Gracie's eyes were bloodshot, and she choked on her words. "I shouldn't have brought her here today."
Isaac didn't want to waste any more time with the Livingston family. He ordered his men, "Take Pedro away."
"Yes, sir."
As Pedro was about to be dragged off, Fletcher and Litzy panicked.
No matter what, Pedro was their son.
But, in the face of the Mendoza family, they were powerless.
Pedro yelled and struggled, but in the end, he was taken away by the Mendoza family's men.
The Mendoza family had dispatched numerous people to search for Adeline.
They focused on checking the airport, train stations, and docks.
"By the way, have you informed Harrison about this?" Gracie asked.
Isaac massaged his temples and nodded.
"I've already called him."
After all, Harrison was Adeline's boyfriend.
And informing him meant they could have more help in finding her.
"We've only just got Adeline back.. Gracie's voice quivered, her eyes red. "Are we really going to lose her again?"
Isaac closed his eyes, his face tight with frustration. After a long pause, his eyes opened, and a ruthless glint flickered.
"Don't worry, l'll make sure Pedro speaks, no matter what it takes."
Just then, one of his men called him.
The man reported that Benjamin's private jet had just taken off.
This happened while they were busy searching for Adeline at the Livingston estate.
Isaac's face turned pale.
She thought, "Benjamin is returning to Orianto at this time? What a coincidence?"
If Adeline had been taken by Benjamin to Mugroaton, this would be disastrous.
Meanwhile, before Isaac could call Harrison, he was having a conversation with Ronan.
It was Ronan who had approached him first.
He said, "Harrison, honestly, when you exposed my mother, I was really angry with you, even hated you."
He let out a bitter laugh and continued, "After all, she's my mother... And to suddenly find out she's done so many horrible things, betrayed my father... There was a moment when I thought, if it wasn't for you, I would've preferred to stay in the dark, even if I was being deceived."
Harrison didn't reply. He knew Ronan needed to vent, so he just listened in silence.
"But then I thought, is it really better to be kept in the dark? Could I live my whole life in lies? Even if I didn't think of myself, what about my dad? Harrison, I hate you, but I also thank you. If it weren't for you, the Thomson family would still be heading toward disaster."
