Chapter 395: I'll Treat Him Like My Child
Lance could feel Harrison's gaze boring into him, making him uneasy.
"What exactly did Benjamin do to piss you off?"
Harrison remained silent, offering no answer.
Lance trembled, unsure whether it was from rage or fear.
He dared not yell at Harrison, so he snapped at the man sitting next to him, "At least give me something to wear."
Right now, he was still wrapped in nothing but a towel around his waist.
The man sitting beside him ignored his words completely.
Lance, feeling helpless, turned back to Harrison, "Looks like you're ready to officially declare war on the Tillman family, huh? But you came all the way to Mugroaton-definitely not a smart move."
The car started moving.
Finally, Harrison spoke.
"Do you know how much you mean to
your older brother?"
"What do you mean by that?" Lance snapped, irritated.
Harrison said nothing.
Lance pressed on, "I'm his brother. Of course, I mean a lot to him."
Even though Benjamin was often harsh with him, they were still brothers.
"So you're kidnapping me to use me as leverage against Benjamin?" Lance's voice faltered with anxiety. "What exactly has he done? You two.."
Suddenly, it hit Lance. Benjamin seemed to have some interest in Harrison's Miss Hensley.
And now, look at Harrison-he was a wreck...
"Did he kidnap your woman?"
Harrison thought, Well, Lance isn't completely clueless.
But Harrison had no intention of continuing the conversation with him.
He reclined in his seat, closing his eyes and trying to rest.
Since learning about Adeline's disappearance, he hadn't slept a single wink.
Pedro had cracked under pressure from the Mendoza family and confessed everything.
He revealed that Benjamin had approached him for help.
He'd secretly allowed Benjamin's men into the Livingston family mansion.
And with Benjamin's private jet departing from Yewhaina, heading for Mugroaton...
They were certain-Benjamin had taken Adeline.
When the Mendoza family's people tried to stop Benjamin at the Mugroaton airport, Harrison had also ordered a search of all other flights leaving Yewhaina.
No sign of Benjamin or Adeline.
Harrison's instincts told him this was not so simple.
Though he couldn't get to Mugroaton immediately, he certainly wasn't powerless there.
Harrison thought, "Could Benjamin really have brought Adeline to Mugroaton?"
Sure enough, when Benjamin's private jet landed, his men didn't see either Benjamin or Adeline:
They weren't on the plane.
Continuing the search like this would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Harrison couldn't afford to wait any longer.
The thought of what might be happening to Adeline was torturing him, a pain stabbing through his insides.
He thought of Lance.
Lance was Benjamin's brother.
Harrison wanted to see for himself-was
Benjamin even concerned for his own brother anymore?
He knew kidnapping Lance would surely anger the Tillman family, but he didn't care.
If it meant saving Adeline, what did it matter if he pissed off the Tillman family?
Lance, seeing the look on Harrison's face, knew his guess was right and felt even more frustrated.
"What's Benjamin up to?" he thought.
Benjamin had once accused him of losing his mind over a woman.
But now, wasn't Benjamin doing the same thing, fighting with Harrison over a woman?
And not only that-he was dragging Lance into it.
Though, Lance had done his fair share of bad deeds.
He wasn't exactly innocent.
Thinking about it, Lance couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all.
After a while, the car stopped in front of a house.
Lance was nearly dragged out of the car.
As soon as he stepped out, he saw a young man standing at the door.
The guy looked vaguely familiar, but Lance couldn't place him.
"This is Benjamin's brother?" the young man asked.
He looked just as haggard as Harrison, his voice hoarse.
"Yes, this is him," Harrison replied.
"Who are you?". Lance asked, his patience running thin. "Can someone at least give me a shirt? It's pretty embarrassing being like this."
One of the bodyguards gave Lance a sharp knock on the back of the head and scolded, "This is Mr. Mendoza. Show some respect."
Lance felt even more humiliated.
He thought, "So what if the guy was Mr.
Mendoza? I'm one of the heirs of the Tillman family. But they don't even give me a shirt."
Once inside, someone finally handed Lance a change of clothes and loosened his restraints.
He quickly put them on, feeling much more at ease.
He feared being tied up again, so he raised his hands. "Don't tie me up again, okay? I won't run. Just tell me what you want, and I'll cooperate."
A wise man knows when to yield.
Though he was still angry at Harrison, he understood the situation well enough to know he couldn't afford to act tough right now.
At least he needed to survive if he hoped to get his revenge on Harrison later.
Harrison tossed a phone at Lance.
"Call your brother."
Lance's heart was filled with rage, but he swallowed it down. He grabbed the phone and dialed Benjamin's number.
In the afternoon, a doctor and nurse came over with medical equipment to draw Adeline's blood.
Benjamin had been watching closely the whole time.
Once the blood was drawn, Adeline pressed a cotton swab against the needle puncture, her face expressionless.
"Does it hurt?" Benjamin asked.
"Let me stick a needle in you and see if it hurts," Adeline smiled sarcastically.
Benjamin sat down across from her, his eyes fixed on her stomach.
Adeline could feel his gaze, and it made her uneasy.
Reflexively, she covered her stomach and asked cautiously, "What do you want?"
Benjamin smiled.
"Adeline, it looks like you're really pregnant," he said, his tone heavy with meaning.
Adeline was speechless.
He was insane.
At that moment, Benjamin suddenly
changed his expression, adopting a look of deep affection.
"Adeline, even if you're pregnant, I don't mind. Even if it's Harrison's child, I don't care. I'll make sure you keep the baby. What I told you before about Harrison having to choose between you and the child-| was just joking. Once you have the baby, I'll treat it like my own."
Adeline shut her eyes, taking deep breaths to calm the anger burning inside her.
It was the only way to stop herself from snapping.
Suddenly, the sound of a phone ringing cut through the tension.
It came from Benjamin's side.
Adeline's heart skipped a beat.
So Benjamin did have a phone.
After all, he was the first son of the Tillman family. He must have a lot of things to deal with.
Even though he could stay here, he couldn't completely cut off contact with the outside world.
Benjamin glanced at Adeline but didn't pick up the phone. Instead, he retreated to his room.
The ringing continued.
After closing the door behind him, Benjamin finally answered the phone.
"Who's this?"
"Benjamin!" It was Lance's angry voice on the other end. "What the hell is going on?"
