One night stand with my president(chapter 423)

Chapter 423: Marry Him

Sam exchanged a few pleasantries with Adeline before turning his attention to Joyce.

"It's been long, Miss Monroe," he said.

"Yeah, it's been a while," Joyce replied with a small smile.

It hadn't been that long, but to both of them, it felt like years.

Sam wanted to say something more, but as he looked at her, he found himself at a loss for words.

Adeline's gaze shifted between the two of them, and she suddenly said to Harrison, "I'm a bit hungry."

"I already got you some oatmeal," Harrison replied.

"Joyce, after talking to me for so long, you must be hungry too, right?" Adeline asked.

"Ah, I'm fine..."

Adeline glanced at Sam, and at that instant, Sam understood her silent message.

He pressed his lips together and turned to Joyce, saying, "I just got off the plane, and I'm a bit hungry. Would you like to grab a bite with me?"

Joyce hesitated, looking between Sam and Adeline. She didn't want to stay and interrupt Harrison and Adeline's time together, so she nodded. "Sure."

At her response, Sam's previously tense body relaxed visibly.

After they left, Harrison looked at Adeline with a smile. "You're giving them a chance to be alone."

"If Mr. Juarez followed Joyce all the way to Daltoria, it shows he cares about her," Adeline said. "From the way Joyce looks at him, it's obvious she hasn't completely let go. Since that's the case, we should let them try again... It would be such a shame if they missed out."

Most importantly, Adeline knew Sam was a good guy.

He respected Joyce, and that's why she felt comfortable letting them have some time alone.

Harrison nodded slightly.

Sam was his best friend, and Harrison wanted him to be happy.

"Here, let me feed you your oatmeal."

Harrison set up a small table in front of Adeline and began feeding her spoonfuls of oatmeal.

He blew on each spoonful to make sure it was at the right temperature before feeding it to her, showing no sign of impatience.

"How's it taste?" he asked as he fed her.

"It's good," Adeline replied.

Finding oatmeal this good in Daltoria was not an easy feat.

"It's just a bit plain," she said with a soft smile.

"There's nothing to be done about that. You can only eat light foods for now," Harrison coaxed her gently. "The sooner you recover, the sooner you can enjoy all the good food. How about I peel an apple for you later, and tomorrow I'll get you some beef chowder? Does that sound good?"

His tone was soft and persuasive.

Without realizing it, Adeline nodded.

Deep down, she knew she had to follow the doctor's orders to recover quickly.

But in front of her boyfriend, she couldn't help but act a little playful.

Looking at Harrison, who was so carefully feeding her oatmeal, Adeline couldn't help but smile.

It was deep into the night in Daltoria.

But the nightlife in Daltoria was lively, and many restaurants stayed open even at this hour.

"What do you want to eat?" Sam asked.

"Anything, I'm fine with whatever. Let's just grab something nearby the hospital."

Joyce wasn't very hungry and had little appetite.

More importantly, her mind was all over the place.

When she came here, she had been thinking only of Adeline.

She hadn't expected to run into Sam in Daltoria.

Honestly, she was happy.

But beyond happiness, there seemed to be something else tugging at her heart.

Joyce couldn't quite place it, but she felt conflicted.

The two of them casually entered a small restaurant near the hospital.

The restaurant wasn't large, but it was clean and well-kept.

At this hour, a few patrons were still inside.

When a waitress approached with a cheerful smile, Joyce suddenly realized something.

She turned to Sam, anxious. "Can you speak Daltoria language? I can't at all."

Gracie had taken a translator with her when handling business.

Joyce wasn't sure if she'd be able to communicate with the waitress.

"Don't worry," Sam said with a smile.

The waitress brought over two menus.

"What would you like to eat?" Sam asked.

"Hmm... I'll have the bread and sausage set."

After Joyce ordered, Sam spoke to the waiter in fluent Daltoria.

His voice sounded particularly charming and seductive when speaking in another language.

Joyce hurriedly lowered her head to avoid getting distracted, pretending to look at the menu again.

"How about a piece of chocolate cake?" Sam asked softly.

Joyce nodded absentmindedly.

After they ordered, the waitress gave Joyce a quick glance and asked Sam something.

Sam was momentarily taken aback, then smiled and said something.

The waitress nodded and left.

"What did you say to the waitress?" Joyce asked, curious.

"Nothing," Sam said.

He then seemed to realize his response was too dismissive, so he added, "She asked if I wanted some wine, and I said no. I figured you probably didn't want any either."

Joyce nodded. She really wasn't in the mood for wine.

Sam lowered his gaze, playing with the cup in front of him. His eyes flickered with a hint of guilt, though Joyce didn't notice.

What the waitress had actually asked was if

Joyce was his girlfriend.

He had answered no but added that he was pursuing her.

He had said it without thinking in the heat of the moment.

Fortunately, Joyce didn't understand.

The waitress soon brought their order.

When the cake arrived, Joyce noticed there was a message written in pink icing on top.

It was in Daltoria language, which she couldn't read.

She turned to Sam and asked, "What does it say?"

Sam glanced at it and froze, his heart sinking.

The message, when translated, read: "Marry him."

Sam couldn't help but laugh bitterly.

The waiter and the chef had meant well, but their good intentions had turned a bit frightening.

If he had just translated the message directly for Joyce, it would have been awkward.

After thinking for a moment, Sam smiled and said, "It says 'It's Yummy.'

Joyce blinked, feeling something was off, but she didn't understand the Daltoria language, so she couldn't argue.

"Alright," she said.

Seeing she didn't press further, Sam quietly sighed in relief.

The two of them silently ate their meal. Sam wanted to ask Joyce how things had been for her recently, but seeing that Joyce wasn't in the mood to chat, he held back his words.

After finishing their meal, they walked back toward the hospital.

"Where are you staying tonight?" Joyce asked.

"Did you book a hotel?"

"Not yet."

Callan had come straight to the hospital after getting off the plane, forgetting to arrange for a hotel.

"My godmother booked a room for me at a hotel nearby," Joyce explained. "I think the hotel isn't too crowded, so there should be a

room available. Want to come with me and check it out?"

"Your godmother?" Sam asked.

"Gracie, Adeline's mother."

"I see."

As they walked and talked, Joyce planned to check on Adeline again before heading back to the hotel to sleep.

However, just as they reached the hospital entrance, Joyce suddenly froze.
