Chapter 409:  Calling Harrison by His Name

Cody said, "I'm just carrying out Mr. Goodwin's orders. He told me to keep an eye on you."

"Don't use my dad to intimidate me," Kira snapped. "I'm going to find Harrison right now. If you try to stop me, don't blame me for being rude."

Kira's words sent a chill down Cody's spine.

He looked at Kira, his main concern being to keep her away from Harrison, to avoid causing any trouble.

But now, she was determined to find Harrison.

He quickly stepped in front of her.

"Miss Goodwin, please don't go to Mr. Thomson. He's really busy right now. If you go to him, you'll only be a nuisance," Cody pleaded.

"What, I can't even help him?" Kira replied boldly.

"I'm going to help him find that woman."

With that, Kira shoved Cody aside and pushed her way forward.

Cody felt frustrated, but he had no choice but to do his job and hold Kira back.

Kira was growing more annoyed by the second.

She finally threw her hands up in defeat.

"Fine, I won't go see Harrison. I'll go back to my room."

She turned around and headed for the door.

Just before she left, Kira suddenly remembered something and called out, "Come in here. I need to talk to you."

Cody thought as long as she wasn't heading toward Harrison, he could handle anything else.

He followed her into her room.

"Sit down," Kira said, gesturing to the sofa.

Cody sat down and watched as Kira poured two glasses of water.

She set one glass in front of him.

"Have some water."

Cody didn't drink but rubbed his hands nervously. "What did you want to talk about?"

"Why are you so tense?" Kira smiled. "I just want to talk to you. Can you stop watching me all the time? Just turn a blind eye. I just want to speak with Harrison. I promise I won't do anything. If Harrison or my dad gets mad at you, I'll put in a good word for you."

Though her tone seemed sincere, Cody still didn't trust her.

Would Kira really help him out? Based on what he knew of her, that seemed impossible.

He figured he better stick to Bruce's orders and keep an eye on her.

"Why don't you come back with me?" Cody asked with a pleading tone. "What do you need with Harrison? Haven't Mrs. Goodwin already found you a few fine young men?"

"But I like Harrison," Kira snapped. "And the men my mom picked out for me? None of them can compare to Harrison."

Cody kept on trying to convince her, talking until his throat was dry. He finally

grabbed his glass of water and gulped down most of it.

Kira's lips curled into a sly smile when she saw he finished the water.

Cody didn't notice anything amiss and was about to speak again when he suddenly felt dizzy.

"Hey, I feel a bit light-headed..."

"Oops, sorry about that," Kira said sweetly as she stood up. "This medicine is from a friend of mine. He said it works quickly, so you should be getting a nice long nap soon."

Cody's heart skipped a beat.

"Miss, you can't do this," he said angrily.

But his anger was no match for the effects of the drug, and soon, he slumped unconscious onto the sofa.

Kira stood over him with a cold chuckle.

"Dare to stop me?" she muttered. "I wasted such a good medicine on you. I just wanted to talk to Harrison, but since you won't

let me, I guess you'll get some well-deserved rest instead."

She kicked him twice for good measure and then stormed out of the room.

At Harrison's door, Kira hesitated for a moment.

Then she pulled out a keycard.

She had bribed a hotel staff member for it.

The staff member had given her a keycard to Harrison's room.

She knew Harrison had only just returned.

He'd been searching for Adeline for days, so he must be exhausted.

Maybe he was already sleeping.

If she knocked, it might disturb him.

It'd be better if Kira simply let herself in.

If Harrison was awake, she could talk to him directly.

He'd been looking for Adeline for so long, he must be at his wit's end.

With that in mind, Kira swiped the keycard and quietly entered.

She quickly scanned the room but didn't see

Harrison.

Then she heard the sound of water running from the bathroom.

"He must be taking a shower," Kira thought as she crept deeper into the room.

On the sofa were several of Harrison's clothes.

She walked over and touched them.

She really wanted to be with Harrison.

Kira thought, "If only that woman wouldn't come back."

Just then, Kira noticed Harrison's phone resting on a cabinet near the bathroom door.

It was his phone.

She thought, "It must be there because Harrison didn't want to miss any calls or messages."

This way, as soon as the phone rang, he'd hear it right away.

Kira thought, "Hmph... Harrison is too responsible. He didn't need to be this careful. How long has he gone without proper rest, all because of that woman?"

Kira stealthily moved over to the cabinet and

grabbed the phone.

As soon as she saw the phone's lock screen, her eyes narrowed.

It was a picture of a woman.

"That must be his girlfriend," Kira thought.

Her gaze flickered with jealousy.

"Hmph, with a face that screams temptation, no wonder she managed to seduce Harrison!"

Harrison's phone was locked, and Kira couldn't unlock it.

But even without unlocking it, she could put the phone on silent.

Kira thought, "Harrison is so obsessed with that woman, even while showering. He really needs a break."

She just wanted him to relax.

After silencing the phone, Kira was about to put it back when she suddenly noticed an incoming call.

The number wasn't saved in the contacts.

"Who was calling him?" Kira's eyes sparkled as she grabbed the phone and quietly slipped out of Harrison's room.

"Hello? Who's this?" Kira answered the call.

Adeline froze when she heard the woman's voice on the other end of the line.

She was sure she had dialed Harrison's number.

His number was engraved in her memory.

Maybe it was one of his subordinates.

"Where's Harrison?" Adeline quickly asked.

"I..."

Before she could finish, Kira interrupted, "Who do you think you are, calling Harrison by his name?"

Adeline felt a twinge of irritation.

Though no one had dared to disturb her while she was reading, and she had locked the study door, she knew the sooner she told Harrison what was going on, the better.

"Who is this woman, and where has Harrison gone?" Adeline asked.
