Chapter 468: Caught a Little Bug
Honestly, the Juarez family might not be as prestigious as the Thomson family, but they were still a wealthy family, living in a different world than Joyce's.
Just the thought of going to the Juarez family made her nervous.
And her parents might not be too happy about her marrying into such a wealthy family.
"It's fine," Sam said, holding her hand and smiling to reassure her. "I'm here. But if you're not ready yet, we don't have to go. It's up to you."
His words gave Joyce some courage.
"Let's go back home first. We'll have to meet them sooner or later, and we can't avoid it."
Recently, Sam had mentioned his parents a few times.
According to him, they were very gentle people who didn't care about social status and didn't require him to find a wife of equal background.
After he started dating Joyce, his mother often reminded him to treat Joyce well and never do anything to hurt her.
Joyce thought that maybe meeting the Juarez family wouldn't be as scary as she thought.
"Okay," Sam said happily. "I'll arrange the tickets."
The two were sitting in an outdoor café, having afternoon snaps.
After a few sips of coffee, Joyce saw a bodyguard wearing headphones walk over and whisper something in Sam's ear.
Sam raised his eyebrows and said, "Really? Bring him over then."
The bodyguard spoke into his earpiece, and Joyce asked, "What's going on?"
"Caught a little bug," Sam said, smiling.
Not long after, a few more bodyguards appeared, bringing a man with them.
This man was not from Lubrea.
He looked like he came from Orianto.
He was brought in front of Sam, but he kept his mouth shut, his posture saying he wouldn't speak even if it cost him his life.
"Well, well," Sam said regretfully, "you've been following us for so long, and today you let your guard down."
The man's face showed a look of surprise.
"So, you knew all along..."
This man had been following them since Daltoria.
No matter where Sam and Joyce went, he was always close behind.
He even took the same flight as they did.
Joyce didn't know, but Sam and his bodyguards had already noticed.
They just didn't bother with him.
The man thought he was monitoring Sam and Joyce, but in fact, a few of Sam's men had been keeping an eye on him.
To avoid disturbing Joyce's travel fun, Sam hadn't told her.
But today, the man seemed to have been
following them for too long and let his guard slip.
After the men told Sam, he decided he had to catch him.
Plus, they were about to head back to Orianto, so there wasn't time to play around with him anymore.
"Spill it," Sam said with a smile. "Who sent you to follow us?"
The man remained silent, and Joyce furrowed her brows, asking, "Could it be Callan?"
Joyce couldn't think of anyone else.
Plus, Callan had been captured by Jamarion and sent back to Orianto, so it was possible he left someone behind to monitor them.
The man looked confused and asked, "Callan? Who? I don't know him."
His confused expression didn't seem fake.
Joyce couldn't help but question if her guess was wrong. "Was it not Callan?"
"It's actually not Callan," Sam said with a smile.
"It's Hamza Skinner."
As soon as the man heard this name, his face changed.
"Looks like I was right," Sam said.
"Who's Hamza Skinner?" Joyce asked, puzzled.
"He's a friend of Callan's," Sam said. "He immigrated to Daltoria with his family years ago. I think the reason Callan came to Daltoria to find you was that he ran into you and then told Callan about it."
But Callan had no power in Daltoria, and Jamarion wouldn't help him.
He probably guessed that Jamarion might send him back to Orianto, so he asked Hamza to send someone to keep an eye on Sam and Joyce.
Hamza and Callan were close, so Hamza agreed to do him a favor.
"So, in the end, it's still Callan," Joyce said with disgust. "How long is he going to keep this up?"
"I'm just doing what I was told," the man said, his face pale. "You've been traveling this whole time, so I didn't have much to report to your boss."
What he said was true, and Sam didn't intend to do anything to him.
"Don't worry," Sam said with his usual smile.
"I had someone bring you here just to tell you that we're heading back to Orianto soon, so you can stop following us. Go back and tell your boss. If he doesn't want to cause more trouble for himself, he should stop helping Callan."
Sam's smile was still there, but his tone was cold.
The man shivered and said, "I understand."
Now that he had been exposed, he had no way of following Sam and Joyce anymore.
"Get out of here."
Sam's bodyguard kicked him, and the man crawled away, running off in a hurry.
Joyce frowned and said, "We've been having such a great time, I almost forgot about Callan. After we get back to Orianto, he's sure to hear about this. If he comes after us again..."
She wasn't scared, just annoyed.
Every time Callan's name came up, it irritated her.
"Don't worry," Sam said, holding her hand tightly.
"I'll handle everything. Trust me."
Joyce looked at him and nodded.
Adeline didn't expect that when Harrison said he was going to take her to meet someone, it turned out to be Kyson.
It was the one who had texted her to bring Harrison a set of condoms at the hotel.
Kyson had been staying in a shabby hotel recently.
He wanted to escape this city, but with the Thomson family around, that wasn't going to happen.
After all, he hadn't revealed who the mastermind behind the texts was.
Seeing Adeline, Kyson gave an awkward smile.
"Miss Hensley, it's been long."
"So it's you," Adeline sneered. "It's been a long time indeed."
Seeing Harrison standing beside Adeline, Kyson broke into a cold sweat, especially when Harrison's cold gaze landed on him.
He didn't dare make a sound.
But soon, he realized something, and his eyes shifted. He smiled and said, "Miss Hensley, are you with Mr. Thomson now? Congratulations, you two really look great together, a match made in heaven."
Adeline forced a smile and said, "Thanks."
Then she asked, "So now, can you tell me who asked you to text me that day?"
