Chapter 428: She’s Being Brainless Again
Adeline paused as she held her knife and fork.
"She owes you an explanation for what happened earlier," Harrison said seriously.
"A few days ago, when you were still recovering, I didn't want her to affect your mood, which is why I asked Bruce to bring her over in a week."
"Forget it, I don't want to see her." Adeline's voice was cold. "And even if she apologizes, I won't forgive her for what she did."
After all, there was no point in seeing Kira. It would only add more stress to her mind.
While she could have called Kira to her face and humiliated her, Adeline couldn't be bothered, nor did she find it necessary.
She'd rather spend the time reading more.
"I understand," Harrison said, not surprised.
"But since she did what she did, she has to face the consequences. I'll take care of it. You don't have to worry."
Adeline nodded, no longer dwelling on it, and continued with her meal.
In the afternoon, Kira reluctantly followed Bruce to the hospital.
Once the car was parked, Kira hesitated to get out.
"Dad, can we just skip this?" Kira pleaded.
"It's been days since Harrison called. Maybe he's forgotten about it. Why do we have to make things worse for ourselves?"
"Get out of the car!" Bruce snapped. "Did you forget your promise to me? Are you trying to back out now?"
"I just think it's over. There's no need to keep dragging it out," Kira argued confidently.
Then, under her breath, she muttered, "That woman is so lucky. If she were dead, I wouldn't have to apologize to her."
"You..." Bruce's anger flared.
In the days immediately after the incident, Kira had been scared.
But after having some time to relax, she'd lost her sense again.
But she was Bruce's daughter. Even if she was being irrational, Bruce had to protect her. He couldn't let things get any worse.
"Kira, if you ever say something like that in front of Harrison or anyone from the Mendoza family, you're done. You hear me?"
Bruce warned. "Not just you, the Goodwin family will be finished too. Now get out of the car!"
Kira, realizing how serious Bruce was, reluctantly stepped out.
Bruce took a deep breath and said, "When you see Miss Mendoza, apologize sincerely. And don't show any reluctance. Understand?"
"I know," Kira mumbled.
She already hated Adeline with all her heart.
Now she had to apologize to Adeline.
It felt unbearable.
Bruce looked at her, uneasy.
But time was running out.
He had no choice but to walk into the
hospital with Kira.
At the hospital entrance, a few men were already waiting for them.
They were Harrison's subordinates. Though they knew what had happened, they greeted Bruce politely.
But they tactfully ignored Kira.
Kira was angry, but she didn't dare to act up when she saw Bruce's stern face.
"Mr. Goodwin, this way please."
The men led Bruce and Kira into the building and up to the elevator.
As they ascended, Bruce's anGoodwinty grew.
He wasn't worried about Harrison.
He believed Harrison would show him some respect.
At the very least, he wouldn't let Kira lose her life.
What worried him was Kira's attitude.
She had been spoiled by him for too long.
If she showed any unwillingness to apologize to Adeline in front of Harrison or the Mendoza family or said anything disrespectful to her, that would be disastrous.
While the elevator rose, Bruce reminded Kira again.
He said, "When we see Harrison and the Mendoza family, put your pride aside. The lower, the better."
Kira glared at him, her eyes full of resentment.
Bruce too felt a pang of heartache for his daughter.
But he had no choice.
On one hand, he had a personal connection with the Thomson family; on the other hand, if he had fallen out with them and lost their support, the Mendoza family might deal with them.
Indeed, over the years, Bruce had built some influence in Daltoria.
But he still couldn't compete with the Mendoza and Thomson families.
"Did you hear me?" Bruce raised his voice.
"As long as you're honest today, it'll be over quickly. But if you keep being stubborn, the Goodwin family will be finished."
"Got it."
Just as Kira answered, the elevator doors opened.
With a dark face, she stepped out.
She still wasn't satisfied.
She thought, "The Goodwin family and the Thomson family are so tight. How could Harrison really do anything to me? As for the Mendoza family, they don't even have authority here in Daltoria."
When they left the elevator, they were led to a waiting room.
"Right here," one of the men said to Bruce.
Bruce exchanged a glance with Kira before knocking on the door.
It opened quickly.
The person who opened the door was Harrison.
Kira felt a little relief at the sight of him but was reminded of the time she was caught answering his call. She instinctively stepped behind Bruce.
"Harrison," Bruce called out, "I've brought Kira. She'll apologize to Miss Mendoza properly."
Harrison didn't even glance at Kira. He simply nodded politely at Bruce and said, "Come in."
Bruce and Kira followed him into the room.
Besides Harrison, the Mendoza family was also present.
Isaac, Gracie, and Alberto were all there.
The moment Bruce stepped into the room, the pressure hit him like a wave.
His scalp tingled slightly, and he quickly pulled Kira closer to him.
Kira could sense the tense atmosphere.
But when she remembered that the only people here were Harrison and Adeline's family, she felt even more uncomfortable.
She straightened her neck, and her eyes showed a hint of defance.
Bruce greeted the Mendoza family and then earnestly said, “I know my daughter made a huge mistake. That’s why I’ve brought her here today, to make her apologize properly to Miss Mendoza. By the way, where is Miss Mendoza?”
“Adeline doesn’t want to see her,” Harrison said.
Bruce expected this, but Kira couldn’t help but feel a bit of disappointment.
