Chapter 400: Don't Bring That Woman Back

Bruce's words were reasonable, but Harrison wasn't in the mood to argue.

"Come on, let's head to the hotel. It's just near the airport," Bruce insisted, pushing him forward.

"Even if you only rest for two hours, you'll regain some strength. Isn't it better to be rested when you're ready to get things done? If you keep pushing yourself, you'll just end up wrecking your body, and that won't help anyone."

Harrison didn't feel tired, nor did he feel especially sleepy.

His mind was consumed by thoughts of Adeline.

But he did have to admit that he didn't know the situation in Daltoria well enough to be running around aimlessly.

It made sense to take Bruce's advice-rest for a bit to regain some strength. That way, when the time came to act, he wouldn't be caught off guard by exhaustion.

He was young and fit, but no one was indestructible.

The hotel was only five minutes from the airport, and it was part of the Thomson Group's holdings in Daltoria.

Bruce had already arranged rooms for Harrison and his companions.

He escorted Harrison to his room, then said,

"Take care of yourself. You don't want to be running on empty while you're searching for your girlfriend. Go take a shower, I'll have food sent up for you, and you can rest. Don't worry, if we hear anything, I'll get in touch right away."

"Thanks," Harrison muttered.

"No need for thanks. We're family. You don't have to be polite with me."

As Bruce was about to leave, his daughter Kira Goodwin appeared with a food tray in hand, walking toward them.

"What are you doing ig here?" Bruce frowned; his voice low.

"Isn't Harrison here?" Kira blushed slightly, her voice a bit nervous. "I just wanted to check on him."

"You don't need to check on him. Go back."

Bruce rubbed his temples in frustration. "He's already exhausted. If you go in, he'll have to entertain you, and that'll just be one more thing for him to deal with."

"Why would he have to entertain me?"

"You're not close enough to get some chat,"

Bruce asked, his voice cold.

Kira went silent, her words caught in her throat.

She wasn't close to Harrison at all. She'd only seen him a few times during family visits to Orianto, and their interactions had barely extended beyond casual pleasantries.

But over the years, she'd developed a lingering fascination with Harrison Alondra, frequently searching for updates about him online.

She had her live tried to convince her parents to let ianto, but they refused.

Now, with Harrison finally in Daltoria, she saw this as her chance to get close to him.

"Dad, why are you being like this? I just want to see him," Kira said, her tone filled with a mix of frustration and hurt.

Bruce softened slightly but still shook his head.

"It's because I know exactly what you're thinking," Bruce said. "I can't just let you run wild. You need to understand that Harrison has a girlfriend. He came to Daltoria to find her."

Kira stayed silent, her thoughts swirling.

"Lorenzo has done so much for me. Without him, I wouldn't have what I have today. You don't want to ruin that by upsetting Harrison. What will I say to Lorenzo if that happens? Just listen to me."

"So, if I like him, I'm supposed to offend him?" Kira's voice wavered. "Dad, what are you even saying?"

"He doesn't like you, and he has a girlfriend. If you go after him, you might just push him away," Bruce said firmly.

mping in frustration.

Kira fumed, her feet stomping frustration.

"Dad, are you trying to help him find his girlfriend? If that's the case, you can just tell your people to stop looking for her. Don't bring her  back!"

"You're out of your mind!" Bruce snapped, his voice low and harsh.

He quickly glanced around, relieved that Harrison hadn't come out yet.

"Don't ever say something like that again. If Harrison finds out, I won't be able to protect you. You didn't see how he was when he landed. Right now, he's obsessed with his girlfriend. You're still going to say that?"

Kira's eyes brimmed with tears. "Dad, you're yelling at me over a woman you don't even know?"

"I'm doing this for you," Bruce said, his voice softening.

Fearing they would be overheard, Bruce grabbed Kira by the arm and pulled her around the corner.

"Listen to me, and stay away from Harrison until this whole thing is over. Don't show up in front of him. ". trying to protect you. You're my daugh nd I'm not going to let anything happen to you."

Kira stayed silent, stubbornly clenching her jaw.

"Say something," Bruce urged, nudging her.

"Promise me you won't make things worse."

"Fine, I promise," Kira said through clenched teeth, her voice filled with frustration.

She felt deeply wronged, unable to understand why her father, who had such a strong connection to the Thomson family, wouldn't help her.

If she married Harrison, it would only benefit the Goodwin family.

As for Harrison's girlfriend-who cared about her? If she didn't come back, Harrison would naturally forget about her.

"Good. Now go home," Bruce said, pulling Kira toward the elevator.

"I'll go by myself. But can you take this food to Harrison for me?" Kira asked, her voice soft.

Bruce sigh, taking  the tray from her. "I'll deliver it, but go home now."

Kira looked back several times as she stepped into the elevator.

Once the elevator doors closed, Bruce let out a breath of relief.

He looked at the food tray in his hands, then paused.

He'd already arranged for Harrison's food to be brought to him, so he wasn't going to bother with this one.

He'd figure out what Kira had bought later.

For now, he'd just eat it himself.

The steam from the shower filled the bathroom.

Harrison stood under the water, one hand braced against the wall as the water flowed over his toned abdomen. His eyes were closed, and he silently rinsed himself off.

He knew that if he didn't shower, he'd smell when he saw Adeline, and that would ruin everything.

After showering, Harrison wrapped himself in a bathrobe and stepped out of the

bathroom. Just as he did, there was a knock at the door.

Harrison opened the door to find a woman in a server uniform pushing a cart.

Mr. Thomson, this is from Mr. Goodwin. He asked us to bring it to you," the woman said, not lifting her head.

"Alright," Harrison said.

The server rolled the cart into the room.

Normally, she would have left after setting the cart down.

But she lingered by the cart, hesitating and unwilling to leave.

Harrison frowned, about to speak, when the server finally raised her head.
