Chapter 385: She Will Be His
"Even if what you're saying is true, what does it make me if I beg her for something like this?" Edward hesitated reluctantly.
He already felt guilty toward Myra, and he couldn't bring himself to ask her for help.
"You're such an idiot," Britney muttered, poking his temple in frustration. "Face and wealth-which one is more important? Or do you think that just because you and Alondra are back in the Thomson family, you can forget all about me? Let me tell you something, Edward. Don't think you can just leave me behind. If you really want to abandon me, I swear I'll do anything."
With that, she pulled Alondra into her arms and said, "Then, I'll take Alondra and jump off a building. I'll make sure you spend the rest of your life regretting it."
"Enough!" Edward snapped, clearly irritated.
"Just give me some time to think!"
He lit a cigarette and took a slow drag.
The smoke swirled around them.
He'd never smoked in front of Alondra before, but right now, he didn't care.
Ever since their return to Orianto, Myra hadn't returned to the Thomson family or contacted him at all.
She probably really did want to sever all ties with him.
If he asked her for help, would she even do it? He didn't have high hopes, but part of him still wanted to try.
Deep down, there was a part of him that still wanted to see Myra. He didn't even know why, but the feeling lingered.
On the day of the Livingston family's banquet, the Mendoza family had woken up early.
The Mendoza family had a good relationship with the Livingston family, so they were going early to show their support.
Adeline's dress had arrived the night before-a champagne-colored mermaid gown that hugged her curves perfectly.
As soon as she got out of the car in front of the Livingston family's house, she became the center of attention.
The Mendoza family had already hosted a banquet for her, so now, the guests attending the Livingston family's event all recognized her.
Many people eagerly approached to greet her.
Pedro's parents personally came out to welcome the Mendoza family.
"Adeline," Litzy said, after exchanging pleasantries with the others, as she grabbed Adeline's hand and led her inside. "I'm so happy you could come! I was just talking about you last night. I learned a few Orianto dishes and I'm cooking them myself for you today."
"Thank you," Adeline replied politely.
When the Mendoza family had hosted their banquet, Pedro had been absent, but his parents had attended.
They had no idea what Pedro had been up to.
Litzy genuinely liked Adeline and had high hopes for her to marry her son. But since Adeline already had a boyfriend, Litzy didn't push it. She had even reminded Pedro this morning not to keep bothering Adeline, as it wasn't appropriate.
Pedro, being obedient, had agreed to whatever she said.
However, Litzy couldn't shake the feeling that something was off with Pedro today.
But as more guests kept arriving, she pushed her concerns aside.
As they entered the house, they saw Pedro walking down the stairs.
When Pedro saw Adeline, his eyes momentarily flashed with stunned admiration.
She was absolutely breathtaking.
Once he regained his composure, a surge of jealousy toward Harrison washed over him.
He thought, "Why did he get to be Adeline's boyfriend? But it didn't matter... After today, Adeline would be mine. With that person's help, I would be able to take Harrison on."
"Pedro, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and come over to greet everyone," Litzy said.
Pedro walked over and greeted the Mendoza family one by one.
But when it came to Adeline, his voice sounded strained as he forced himself to speak normally.
"Adeline... hey there."
Adeline didn't pay him much attention. After a brief greeting, she went off to chat with Litzy.
Pedro breathed a quiet sigh of relief.
He took out his phone, lowered his head, and sent a text. "Wait for my message."
