Chapter 405 A Man's Responsibility

As Harrison gazed out the window at the rapidly passing landscape, he thought to himself that Adeline would definitely find a way to contact him.

She wasn't the type to just sit and wait for things to happen.

These past few days, the Mendoza family and the Thomson family had been working together to undermine the Tillman family.

The Tillman family would surely be putting pressure on Benjamin.

Even if Benjamin didn't want to let Adeline go, he'd still have to return to Mugroaton.

He certainly wouldn't take Adeline with him.

That would be too risky.

After he left, Adeline would definitely find a chance to contact him.

Harrison trusted her.

And he knew she would trust him.

He couldn't afford to betray that trust.

The car pulled up in front of the hotel.

He was no longer in the city where he had first arrived in Daltoria.

And this hotel wasn't the same one he'd stayed at before.

But as he got out of the car, he spotted Kira stepping out of another vehicle.

Harrison furrowed his brow.

He ignored her entirely.

He was doing this to spare Bruce's feelings, but that didn't mean he had to indulge Kira, who had no real connection to him.

Kira's driver got out and took her luggage from the trunk.

"Harrison," Kira called cheerfully. "What a coincidence! I didn't expect us to be staying in the same hotel."

Harrison didn't respond and walked straight into the hotel.

Kira bit her lip and followed him closely, trying to keep up.

Rowen, who was also in Daltoria and with Harrison, glanced back at Kira and quietly asked, "Mr. Thomson, should I call Mr. Goodwin to have him take Miss Goodwin back?"

Even Rowen could tell Kira was clearly here for Harrison.

But right now, Harrison was focused on finding Adeline.

He didn't have time for her.

And honestly, even if Harrison did have time, he still wouldn't entertain her. If Kira knew how much Harrison was consumed with finding Adeline, she'd realize just how lucky she was-otherwise, she'd be in a much worse situation.

Harrison, out of respect for Bruce, wouldn't act harshly toward her, but his biting sarcasm could easily crush her.

"Bruce is busy," Harrison said. "Call his assistant."

"Yes, sir," Rowen said.

Bruce had been working hard to help him lately.

And besides, directly calling Bruce to have him come get his daughter would be a bit too disrespectful.

Rowen quickly called Bruce's assistant, Cody Benton.

When Cody answered, he was immediately overwhelmed.

Bruce usually spoiled Kira a great deal.

His subordinates didn't dare upset her.

But now, Cody was being asked to go pick up Kira...

Cody considered calling Bruce, but after two attempts, Bruce didn't pick up.

Considering how busy Bruce had been, it wasn't surprising.

But Harrison's orders couldn't be ignored.

If Bruce, who worked for the Thomson family, could be expected to comply, then surely Cody had no choice.

After thinking it over, Cody reluctantly got in his car and headed towards the city where Harrison and Kira were now staying.

Kira had specifically arranged for her hotel room to be right next to Harrison's.

She could tell Harrison was annoyed with her.

But she wasn't ready to give up on the chance to spend time with him.

Besides, she figured that Harrison was just temporarily distracted by his girlfriend.

He'd been looking for Adeline for days in Daltoria.

If he couldn't find Adeline soon, Kira thought he'd definitely get frustrated.

That would be when Kira thought she could make her move.

Kira was feeling quite pleased with herself.

After putting her luggage in her room, she went straight to Harrison's door, eager to try and chat with him.

But just as she raised her hand to knock, the door swung open.

It was Rowen stepping out.

"Miss Goodwin," Rowen said with a slight frown, "Mr. Thomson has been very tired these past few days. He needs to rest. Please don't disturb him."

"Is Harrison really that tired?" Kira asked, furrowing her brows in concern. "Why does he push himself so much? If he wants to find that woman, he could just send someone else to do it, right? Why does he have to do it himself?"

Rowen immediately shut the door, then turned to Kira with a cold expression. "Miss Goodwin, this doesn't concern you. Please refrain from speaking like that in front of Mr. Thomson. He and his girlfriend have been together for over five years. Their relationship is not something you can interfere with."

Rowen even included the five years when

Harrison wasn't officially dating Adeline, just to make sure Kira got the message.

He hoped this would make her give up.

But instead, it only made Kira's mind race.

"Harrison and his girlfriend have been together for five years? I've never heard of that. I didn't find anything online about it either."

Kira thought, "Could it be that Harrison didn't want it public? If they've been together for five years and haven't made it public, maybe Harrison doesn't really like her that much. All this searching for her could just be out of a sense of responsibility."

This thought made Kira smile to herself.

Rowen, on the other hand, was left speechless.

He looked at her as though she were out of her mind.

"I understand. Thanks for telling me all this," Kira said, smiling at Rowen. "I won't bother Harrison. Let him rest. By the way, are you Harrison's assistant? You should make sure he has something to eat. Don't let him go hungry."

"I don't need you to remind me," Rowen replied.

"If you're just here for Mr. Thomson, please go back home."

Kira ignored him, humming to herself as she turned and walked back to her room.

Rowen rubbed his temples in frustration.

Things were already hectic enough, and now Kira was just adding to the chaos.

But she was Bruce's daughter, so they had to leave her some dignity.

Otherwise, they would have thrown her out of Daltoria long ago, keeping her out of Harrison's sight.

That evening, after enjoying a leisurely dinner in the hotel restaurant, Kira returned to her room and found Cody waiting for her.

"Miss Goodwin," Cody said, letting out a sigh of relief when he saw her. "Finally, I've found you. Please, come with me."

"I'm not going anywhere. I came here to relax. Why should I leave with you?" Kira retorted, clearly annoyed. "Who sent you here?"

Cody's eyes darted around before he said, "Of course, Mr. Goodwin sent me. He's worried about you being here alone and asked me to bring you back."

"Don't worry. I've been here before. Besides, Harrison is here too. Go away, I'm going to my room to rest. I'm not going with you."

Cody was at his wit's end and could only beg her, "Please, just come back with me. Stop causing trouble here, Okay?"

"I said no!" Kira snapped. "If you keep bothering me, I’ll make sure my dad gets you fired.”
