Chapter 392: You'll Think About It
At Benjamin's words, a soft chuckle escaped his lips.
"Adeline, from now on, there's no need to say things like that." He smiled. "I went through a lot to bring you here, and I'm not letting you go."
"Went through a lot?" Adeline's tone was laced with sarcasm. "It wasn't that hard, was it? You just tricked that fool Pedro."
Benjamin laughed. "He is quite foolish."
He wanted to take Adeline, but with the Mendoza family keeping watch, it wasn t easy.
However, if he took her somewhere familiar to the Mendoza family, their guard would be lower.
So, he approached Pedro and told him he had a grudge against Harrison.
He couldn't stand to see Harrison so pleased with himself, parading around with his beautiful woman.
Benjamin told Pedro he knew Pedro wanted to be with Adeline, and that he could
help him-not for any other reason, just to go
against Harrison.
Normally, no one would believe that.
But Pedro... well, Pedro was different.
Pedro hated Harrison now and was obsessed with becoming part of the Mendoza family.
With just a little push, Pedro fell right into Benjamin's trap.
He told Pedro to come up with a plan to get Adeline to the Livingston family.
It had to be during a crowded event.
In the chaos, no one would notice what they did.
So Pedro arranged for his family to host a party.
That was when Adeline was lured into his house.
Then, Pedro bribed a maid to lead Adeline into the deserted garden.
Benjamin's people had already been waiting there.
With Pedro's help, they easily infiltrated the Livingston family's estate.
Benjamin told Pedro to take Adeline and get her out, and then contact him.
If Pedro tried to take action himself, the Mendoza family would catch wind of it.
Besides, Pedro wouldn't have anywhere to hide Adeline.
Benjamin could take her out of the country, get her settled, and then pass on the address to Pedro.
Pedro could come, and they'd have all the time in the world to be together.
Once they were in love, the Mendoza family would have no choice but to accept Pedro's actions.
And if things really came to that, Benjamin suggested, they'd just get Adeline pregnant, and the Mendoza family would have to accept Pedro as their son-in-law.
If the Mendoza family pressed charges, the Tillman family would step in.
Pedro, being as stupid as he was, believed every word.
The plan went smoothly.
But he couldn't tell Pedro where Adeline was staying.
Benjamin thought, "Adeline was mine. She could only belong to me. As for Pedro? He has served his purpose."
From now on, how the Mendoza family dealt with Pedro was none of Benjamin's concern.
After all, Pedro was the one who was foolish.
Even if Pedro exposed everything, Benjamin wasn't afraid.
Right now, the Thomson family and the Mendoza family couldn't find this place.
They could march over to Mugroaton and demand answers from the Tillman family, but Mugroaton wasn't their turf.
There wasn't much they could do.
As long as Adeline stayed by his side, Benjamin didn't care what price he had to pay.
"He's foolish, but you're not much smarter," Adeline said coldly. "A smart person wouldn't treat someone like their beloved."
Benjamin didn't respond to her jab. He simply said, "The wind's picking up. Let's go back."
Adeline didn't want to continue standing there talking to him, so she turned and headed inside.
Benjamin followed closely behind her.
Breakfast wasn't ready yet.
Adeline sat down on the sofa in the living room and coldly asked, "Are you going to at least provide me with some entertainment? Am I supposed to just sit here and stare at nothing every day?"
"You can watch the TV in the living room, and there are books in the study," Benjamin replied.
"Adeline, I'm not giving you any means of contact with the outside world, so don't bother trying to get it."
Adeline pursed her lips.
Just then, the maid walked in and said, "Sir, Miss, breakfast is ready."
Adeline immediately stood up and followed the maid to the dining room.
Benjamin didn't join her.
He probably didn't want to ruin her appetite.
The breakfast spread included milk, donuts, bread, and pudding.
Seeing the meal, Adeline felt a pang of longing for her life in Orianto.
The Thomson Group must have resumed operations by now.
Her colleagues in the executive office would have returned to work.
She wondered how Anna was doing.
That man had deceived her; she wondered if Anna was still heartbroken.
Adeline felt a tightness in her chest and lost her appetite.
"Miss, do you not like it?" The maid asked. "I can have the chef prepare something else."
"No need." Adeline shook her head.
She forced herself to eat a little before returning to the living room.
Benjamin was sitting on a single sofa, flipping through a magazine.
Adeline didn't want to see him, but since they were both in the same place, avoiding him would be impossible and only make her uncomfortable.
So she sat on the large sofa and turned on the TV.
Maybe she could catch some news about the Mendoza family or Harrison.
However, the TV had no channels.
It did have a selection of movies and TV shows from all around the world.
But she couldn't access any regular TV channels.
Adeline frowned and asked irritably, "You won't let me send messages to the outside world, but are you also stopping me from receiving any news from the outside?"
Benjamin replied, "I'm doing this for your own good, Adeline. I don't want you to see someone you shouldn't, and then start thinking about him."
Adeline was on the verge of cursing.
What did he mean by 'someone you shouldn't'?
"There are some people I'll think about, whether | see them or not," Adeline said.
"You really don't need to do this."
"Then I still can't let you see him." Benjamin chuckled. "Maybe if you stop seeing him for a while, you'll forget about him. Adeline, you should know this: when you're willing to be with me, that's when you'll be able to leave here and see your family again."
He paused, then added, "If you can never willingly be with me, I don't mind keeping you here forever.
"Enough. Shut up."
Adeline didn't want to hear any more of his rambling.
Since the TV was on, she figured she might as well watch something. She flipped through the channels.
After a few pages, she spotted Eleanor's face on a movie poster.
This was a film Eleanor had shot in Mugroaton.
It had been well-received, and Eleanor had been expected to win an award, but in the end, another actress took it.
"Eleanor, is she with your brother?" Adeline asked.
At the mention of her name, Benjamin glanced at the screen.
He said, Yes. "If you want to see her, I'll bring her over."
Adeline was taken aback. "What?"
One Benjamin was already enough to deal with.
Seeing Eleanor as well? That would drive her mad.
And besides, if Eleanor saw her now, she'd probably want to tear her apart.
