Chapter 339 It Was Her
Harrison couldn't just believe everything Kyson said without verification.
He needed to listen carefully and then judge whether her words were true.
Kyson took a deep breath and said, "That night, received a sum of money and a message instructing me to ask Miss Hensley to deliver condoms to your hotel room."
Harrison's heart skipped a beat.•
"Go on," he urged.
"I sent her the message and told her it was your command. Miss Hensley didn't suspect anything. I saw her enter the hotel, and feeling uneasy, I followed her inside. I saw her knock on your door, and when you opened it, she was pulled inside."
Harrison's mind raced as if the world had flipped upside down. A fiery heat surged in his chest, so intense it almost stole his breath.
"I waited outside for a while, but Miss Hensley never came out. I got scared. I thought I had made a mistake, leading Miss Hensley into your room. If something happened, neither you nor Miss Hensley would let me off the hook. So I ran."
After speaking, Kyson anxiously waited for Harrison's reaction.
But Harrison said nothing.
Kyson hesitantly raised her eyes.
She saw Harrison sitting there, his face emotionless.
Kyson thought, "He must be thinking about something. Maybe he's angry because he just found out Miss Hensley was the woman from that night. After all, Miss Hensley is his most trusted subordinate, yet she went to bed with him... He must be furious."
But Harrison wasn't angry. He was lost in thought.
The hazy memories of that night, which had gradually faded from his mind, suddenly came back into sharp focus.
He remembered the way his body had been pressed so tightly against that woman's, the way their fingers had intertwined, and the sweetness of her red lips.
It turned out that the woman that night was Adeline.
Harrison trembled slightly.
He didn't know how to describe his feelings: surprised, excited, happy, or confused.
Maybe all of those emotions combined.
He couldn't put it into words.
All he knew now was that he had to see Adeline immediately. He needed to ask her if she was the one from that night.
Harrison reached for his phone to call Georgia.
But he found his hands trembling, unable to hold the phone properly.
He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself, and dialed Georgia's number, saying he was about to leave for Yewhaina.
Georgia, who was just about to go to bed, was speechless.
Yewhaina and Orianto were several hours apart in time zones.
When Harrison's private plane took off in the middle of the night, the Mendoza family was just sitting down for dinner.
Since Adeline couldn't stomach Yewhaina's cuisine, Isaac had asked the chef to prepare a large spread of Orianto food, all dishes that Adeline liked.
When Adeline entered the dining room, she felt as though she was in Orianto.
At that moment, she heard a servant's voice.
"Mr. Pedro Livingston has arrived."
"That kid... I knew he'd come over," Alberto said with a smile.
Gracie explained to Adeline, "Pedro is the youngest son of the Livingston family."
Adeline had heard of the Livingston family in Yewhaina, but she only knew of them by name and wasn't familiar with the details.
"My father and I have always had a good
Livingston tamily," Gracie continued.
"Pedro's mother and I have been close friends for many years. Back in the day, we were both pregnant. We jokingly promised that if we had a son and a daughter, we'd arrange a marriage between them. I had you, and she had Pedro."
Adeline's eyes widened in shock, thinking, "Wait, I have an arranged marriage?"
Gracie, noticing her reaction, laughed.
"Don't worry. That was just a joke from back then. It wasn't serious."
Just as Gracie finished speaking, Adeline heard light footsteps approaching.
Turning around, she saw a young man with blonde hair and blue eyes entering the room.
The man was quite handsome, dressed in sporty attire, exuding energy and vigor.
When he saw Adeline, a flash of admiration appeared in his eyes.
He walked up to her and, with a mock bow, said, "Miss, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Pedro Livingston."
Adeline smiled warmly and replied, "Nice to meet you. I'm Adeline."
Her smile nearly knocked Pedro off his feet. He eagerly said, "Mr. Mendoza, Mrs. Mendoza, is this my fiancée? Oh, she's so beautiful!"
Adeline was speechless.
She quickly wiped the smile off her face.
"You little brat, stop talking nonsense," Gracie said with a laugh.
"I'm not talking nonsense!" Pedro looked a little aggrieved.
"I've heard my mom mention it before.
When she and you were pregnant, you arranged a marriage between me and your daughter."
"That was just a joke. Don't take it seriously," Gracie quickly explained.
At this moment, Isaac chimed in, "Honestly, I think Pedro is a good man. He and Adeline would be a great match."
Adeline suddenly coughed.
"Alright, enough of your jokes. What if Pedro
takes this seriously?" Gracie shot Isaac a glare. Isaac didn't dare to say anything further, though his face showed clear reluctance. He had always liked Pedro. After all, he had watched Pedro grow up and knew his background. Moreover, the Mendoza family had a strong relationship with the Livingston family, and Gracie and Pedro's mother were close friends. If Adeline married Pedro, it would likely bring her happiness.
The Livingston family, which hadn't been strong over twenty years ago, had risen to prominence in the past decade.
Back then, when the Mendoza family faced sudden setbacks, Isaac and Gracie were almost overthrown, and the Livingston family, though eager to help, lacked the strength to do so.
Eventually, however, they did manage to support Isaac and Gracie in reclaiming their position, and since then, the Mendoza family had supported the Livingston family in return.
Now, the Livingston family was doing very well.
When Pedro heard that the Mendoza
family had found their long-lost daughter, he had been eager to come and meet her. His mother had advised him to give her more time to rest, but he couldn't hold back any longer and came over that evening.
"Pedro, please take a seat," Gracie said with a smile. "We're just about to eat. Join us for dinner."
"Orianto food? I love Orianto food!" Pedro exclaimed excitedly.
He deliberately sat next to Adeline.
Since they were having Orianto food, the servant had not prepared knives and forks but instead placed graspers and spoons on the table.
Pedro turned to Adeline and said, "I eat Orianto food often. My friends always say I'm great with graspers, better than anyone else."
