Chapter 351: Just Want to Kiss You
Harrison thought, "He has truly faked his own death to deceive the entire Thomson family, making everyone mourn for him, causing us to spend the rest of our lives missing him, while he himself lived abroad, marrying and having a child. How could he do something like that?"
Harrison stayed silent, and Adeline remained by his side.
During this time, she sent messages to Gracie and Isaac, asking them to pick up Joyce.
Her parents were reliable, and they knew Joyce was her best friend, someone they would treat like their own daughter.
Plus, Joyce was a social butterfly. Even though it would be their first time meeting, she wouldn't be nervous.
Right now, Adeline couldn't bring herself to leave Harrison alone.
After a long period of silence, Harrison spoke to Adeline. "I want to meet him."
He had thought about it for a long time, and he didn't believe Edward was the kind of person who would do something like that.
Perhaps that man wasn't his father but someone who merely looked very much like him.
If it really was his father, then maybe he had some unspoken reason for doing what he did.
Regardless, Harrison wanted to meet this man named Elliot and get to the bottom of it.
"Okay." Adeline gently patted the back of his hand. "When do you want to go?"
"Tomorrow, I think." Harrison glanced out the window at the dimming sky. "I need the night to think..."
He needed time to think about what he would do if it turned out to be the most painful of situations.
"Alright." Just then, Adeline received a message from Gracie saying they had picked up Joyce.
Harrison saw the message on Adeline's phone and said, "Let's go downstairs."
"Are you sure?" Adeline asked, concern in her voice.
Harrison smiled, leaned down, kissed the corner of her mouth, and then said softly, "Don't worry. I'm fine."
As long as she was by his side, he could face anything.
At times like this, he didn't want to be alone.
Adeline cupped his face in her hands and gave him a deep kiss.
When the kiss ended, both of their breaths were uneven.
Harrison's voice was hoarse as he said, "Adeline... we should go see Miss Monroe.
Don't torment me like this now."
"I didn't." Adeline said innocently, "I just suddenly, wanted to kiss you. It's just a simple kiss."
Harrison believed her, and then, in the same
"simple" manner, he kissed her again for a while before they both finally composed themselves and went downstairs.
The living room was filled with laughter.
As Adeline had expected, Joyce's sociable nature worked wonders. She easily made Isaac and Gracie laugh, and even Alberto couldn't help but laugh along.
Adeline was internally grateful to Joyce. At times like this, having a joyful atmosphere around Harrison made him feel a little better.
When they both came downstairs, everyone knew exactly what was going on.
Even though neither of them had said anything, the way they acted told everyone that they had reconciled, and it seemed like their relationship had been officially established.
In fact, when Adeline and Harrison came down, they didn't even hold hands.
Yet, everyone could feel the subtle tension and chemistry between them.
Gracie was happy for them but also nudged Isaac discreetly, signaling him not to say anything inappropriate.
Isaac, though he had been antagonistic toward Harrison in the past, wasn't
unreasonable. Since his daughter and Harrison had reconciled, he had no attempt to target Harrison. The most important thing to him was his daughter's happiness and well-being.
"Adeline!" Joyce was thrilled to see Adeline again.
She rushed over and hugged her tightly.
"I've missed you so much! It feels like forever!"
Adeline also smiled warmly.
Actually, it hadn't been that long.
But when they used to live in the same city, they could meet anytime they wanted. Now, being so far apart made their reunion feel different.
After they enjoyed the joy of reuniting, Joyce greeted Harrison as well.
Harrison politely nodded and greeted her back.
However, Joyce seemed a little off when she saw Harrison.
Of course, she had no issues with Harrison.
She was happy with him as Adeline's boyfriend and trusted him to take care of Adeline.
But every time she saw Harrison, she couldn't help but think of Sam.
To be honest, during her time living alone, she rarely thought about Sam.
Sometimes, she even thought that perhaps she had managed to stop liking him.
But every time she did think of Sam, an indescribable sadness would well up in her heart.
Now, seeing Harrison only reminded her more of those feelings.
Fortunately, Gracie came over at that moment and cheerfully said, "It's rare for you two to reunite. Let's have the kitchen prepare more dishes tonight. Joyce, you stay here and make yourself at home."
"Thanks." Gracie successfully shifted Joyce's attention.
Joyce then pulled Adeline aside and whispered, "Remember how we used to joke about getting rich one day, and if we did, we
wouldn't forget each other? Who would've thought you'd really get rich!”
The idea of her best friend becoming a rich heiress was a strange but exhilarating thought.
"I never thought this would happen either."
Adeline laughed. "If only I could meet my real parents earlier, I could've brought you directly to Yewhaina, and you don't have to hide from that psycho."
The "psycho" she was referring to was, of course, Callan.
"Talking about him just pisses me off," Joyce said, disgusted. "I hope he forgets about me soon."
"That might be hard," Adeline said, shaking her head. "I've heard that Mr. Juarez has been secretly stopping him from finding you."
She hesitated for a moment before adding, "But V heard that Sam might still have feelings for you."
She didn't want to bring up Sam to Joyce, but thinking about what Harrison said, she thought maybe there was still a chance for Joyce and Sam.
If two people who liked each other missed out on being together, it would be too much of a shame.
Joyce's expression changed slightly when she heard Adeline's words.
But soon, she shook her head and said, "Mr.
Juarez is a really kind person. I think he just felt sorry for me being stalked by that psycho, so he wanted to help me. After all, we've known each other for a while. And he has a grudge with Callan too."
At this point, Joyce had stopped thinking that Sam still liked her.
He didn't like her, and that was fine. She never forced anything.
