One night stand with my president(chapter 348)

Chapter 348: He Looks Like My Father

Harrison couldn't resist Adeline's playful charm and obediently followed her into a clothing store.

The store was a high-end brand catering specifically to the city's wealthy clientele.

There weren't many branches, and it just so happened that this mall had one.

Inside, there wasn't a large selection of men's clothing, but Adeline quickly spotted a shirt she liked.

There wasn't much stock left of this brand, and the shirt she chose was the last one in Harrison's size.

Without hesitation, Adeline purchased the shirt.

When she first arrived in Yewhaina, Isaac had given her a bank card, telling her to spend it as she liked.

He hadn't said how much money was on the card.

But since he'd said "spend as you like," she guessed it must have been a very large amount.

After buying the shirt, Adeline noticed some attractive women's clothing in the store and decided to have a look to see if anything would suit her.

She was browsing, with Harrison accompanying her.

Just then, Harrison accidentally turned his head and caught sight of a young girl in a children's clothing store across the way, shopping with a couple who seemed to be her parents.

The couple appeared to be from Orienta.

Since they were from the same place, Harrison looked at them a little longer.

But that single glance made him freeze, his eyes fixed on the family.

More precisely, his gaze was locked on the man in the family.

"The man looked so much like... But how could that be?" Harrison thought.

Harrison watched as the man lifted the little girl high in the air, making her giggle with delight.

He remembered when he was little, his father used to pick him up like that.

Back then, he'd laughed just as joyfully.

Harrison thought, "Could it be... that man is..? No, it can't be. That would be absurd."

Adeline was about to ask Harrison for his opinion on a dress she had picked out, but when she turned around, she noticed something was off with him.

His face had turned pale, and his hands seemed to tremble slightly.

Adeline's expression changed immediately, and she quickly grabbed his hand, asking, "Harrison, What's wrong? Are you Okay?"

His hand was icy cold.

Adeline noticed he was staring fixedly at something, so she followed his gaze.

And then, she saw the family in the children's store.

Adeline thought, "Could it be that he knew them?"

"Harrison, are you alright? Do you know those three people in the store?" she asked softly.

Harrison snapped out of his trance and squeezed Adeline's hand tightly. His voice was strained as he said, "That man... he looks like my father."

It really was uncanny.

Of course, in his memory, his father had been much younger, while the man across the store was nearing fifty.

But Harrison thought that if his father had still been alive, he would look just like that man now.

Adeline knew that Harrison's father had passed away many years ago.

She could imagine that suddenly seeing someone who looked so much like his father would make him sad.

As she was thinking of how to comfort Harrison, she noticed his eyes widened.

Then he said, "I suspect he is my father."

Adeline was left completely confused.

She thought, "That man across the way was his father? How could that be? If his father hadn't died, why hadn't he come home? Why is he in Yewhaina with his wife and daughter?"

"I saw it," Harrison's voice was stiff. "His little gestures... they're exactly like my father's."

He had just noticed the little girl holding up two dresses, as if she was asking the man to choose one.

When the man looked at the dresses, his right hand unconsciously began to trace circles at his temple.

Harrison distinctly remembered that when he was a child and asked his father which hat looked better, his father would make the same gesture.

Of course, other people could do the same thing, but when a man who resembled his father made the same gesture his father often did, it was hard for Harrison not to doubt it.

Adeline looked over at the family again and then back at Harrison.

"Do you want to go over and check?" she asked gently.

The little girl picked a dress, and the man seemed ready to pay.

After paying, the family would likely leave.

Harrison's fingers tightened.

He realized he was scared.

He didn't want to go.

He wanted it to be his father. He wanted his father to still be alive, but the scene before him was making him feel lost and unsure.

The shop assistant noticed their odd behavior and came over to ask if they needed any help.

Adeline replied quietly, "It's alright. Thank you."

At that point, the family had finished paying and was heading out.

They walked hand in hand, looking warm and happy.

The man hadn't looked in Harrison's direction, so he hadn't noticed Harrison.

Watching them leave, Harrison still hadn't moved.

Adeline knew she shouldn't rush him, so she said nothing.

As the family was about to disappear from view, Harrison finally moved.

He walked out of the store, his eyes still fixed on their receding figures.

He kept walking until they were completely out of sight.

He gripped the handrail tightly.

"Adeline..." His voice was trembling slightly.

"What should I do?"

Adeline had never seen him so lost and helpless before.

Her heart ached for him, and she immediately wrapped her arms around him, patting his back and soothing him. "Don't worry. We don't know for sure what's going on yet. Don't overthink it."

What if it was just a coincidence?

After all, it was possible for two people to look alike. She and Whitney looked eerily similar.

But Adeline also had a nagging feeling that things weren't so simple.

That was Harrison's father.

Could Harrison really bave made a mistake?

But if that was truly his father, why had he faked his own death? It wasn't about faking death-why hadn't he returned to the Thomson family?

Had he lost his memory?

The more Adeline thought about it, the more her head ache. And it was no better for Harrison.

After a moment of holding Adeline, Harrison began to regain some composure.

Thankfully, she was there to support him.

"The mall must have security cameras," Harrison said. "I'll have someone check the footage."

"Let me do it," Adeline said. "We're in Yewhaina, and the Mendoza family is much more capable of handling this kind of thing."

Harrison had helped her with so many investigations in the past.

Now, it was her turn to assist him.

Hearing her words, Harrison didn't object.

After all, in Yewhaina, the Mendoza family had more power and resources than the Thomson family.
