Chapter 373: You're So Good
The Mendoza Group wasn't facing any major problems; it was just a little sabotage from a rival company. It looked serious at first, but after a quick fix, everything was fine.
The next day, Isaac and his wife invited Myra to dinner.
After all, they were in Yewhaina, and it was only right to show some local hospitality.
The dinner took place at one of the Mendoza Group's restaurants-the largest in town.
There were only private rooms there, and since they only served a limited number of guests each day, even money couldn't guarantee a spot.
The atmosphere was warm and cozy, and Gracie and Myra were getting along quite well. When they talked about Harrison and Adeline's marriage, both women were all smiles.
Gracie actually felt some sympathy for Myra.
But, of course, she couldn't let that show-no need to stir up old wounds.
Besides, she'd heard from Adeline that after learning the truth, Myra had taken it all very
calmly.
People might not get it, but Gracie, being around the same age and a woman herself, could probably understand.
She thought Myra must've come to terms with it after her heart had died a little.
So now, Myra was determined to sever ties with Edward and leave him behind for good.
In fact, that was exactly how Myra felt.
Before her marriage, she'd always lived as the daughter of the Terrell family-carefully molded by her parents, never daring to step out of line.
After her marriage, she became Edwards wife, and her world revolved around him.
Then, when Edward "died," she lived as Edward's widow, mourning him for years.
Looking back, it was clear-she'd had a tough first half of her life.
Now, though, for the second half, she only wanted to live as "Myra," for herself, and no one else.
Gracie and Myra hit it off even more as they talked about their children. They were almost ready to set a wedding date for Harrison and Adeline on the spot.
Adeline was at a loss.
So, Harrison stepped in and said, "Mom, Gracie, we're still focusing on our careers for now. We're not planning to get married just yet. Let's talk about something else."
It wasn't that he didn't want to get married.
It was Adeline who wasn't ready.
Adeline said she wasn't prepared for marriage yet.
And there were still some things left unresolved.
While Harrison would have loved to get their marriage certificate right away, he respected Adeline's wishes.
Most importantly, he knew Adeline wasn't saying no, just not yet.
When she was ready to marry, it would definitely be with him.
No one else could share a life with her-only him.
So Harrison wasn't rushing.
After all, she was right there with him.
Hearing Harrison's words, Myra immediately scolded him, saying if he'd decided to be with a woman, he should settle it fast-no dragging it out. He needed to take responsibility.
Harrison kept nodding, taking all the blame for not wanting to get married yet.
Adeline was about to speak up, but Harrison subtly stopped her.
Once the meal was over, they left the private room. Adeline, feeling guilty, turned to Harrison and said, "Sorry, it was me who didn't want to get married, but you ended up taking all the scolding."
Harrison smiled. "What's the big deal about getting scolded by elders? Besides, since I've already taken the heat, you can't say it's your fault now. Otherwise, you'll get another round from your parents."
He took Adeline's hand and said, "I'm a man. If I can't handle this small matter, how can you trust me to protect you?"
Unable to resist, Adeline hugged him and kissed his lips.
"You're so good."
Harrison wanted to deepen the kiss but remembered they were still in a restaurant with the risk of someone walking in. She was shy, so he decided against it.
The next day after dinner with the Mendoza family, Myra and Isaac boarded the flight back to Orianto.
Harrison was going with them.
Adeline had originally planned to go with them too because she wasn't sure about leaving Harrison.
But Harrison told her to stay in Yewhaina a little longer-spend some time with his parents, and also, the Thomson family was going to be chaotic soon. He didn't want her dragged into it.
Long-distance relationships were tough, but if they could get through this period, things would be easier.
Since Harrison insisted, Adeline had no choice but to agree.
Once the Thomson family's private jet took off, both Benjamin and Pedro got the news.
They were absolutely thrilled.
Harrison was finally leaving.
That meant they no longer had to go through
Harrison to get to Adeline.
Benjamin was more eager than Pedro.
Pedro's family was in Yewhaina, so he had it easier.
But Benjamin, if anything went wrong in his company, would have to return to Mugroaton.
He needed to figure out a way to get Adeline back to Mugroaton, fast.
Right now, Adeline wasn't exactly fond of him, and the Mendoza family guarded against him.
It wasn't like he could act as freely in Yewhaina as he'd like.
At this point, he remembered Pedro again.
Since the Livingston family had a good relationship with the Mendoza family and Pedro often visited them, he was the perfect tool for the job.
As soon as the plane landed, Myra immediately went with Edward to handle the divorce procedures.
Harrison had already arranged everything before they even left for Orianto.
So once they landed, they went straight to complete the paperwork.
Britney followed them the whole time.
Watching Myra and Edward finalize the divorce, Britney was absolutely delighted.
At this point, she couldn't help but wish she could see some discomfort or defeat on Myra's face.
But there was nothing.
Myra's expression remained calm, even slightly relaxed.
Honestly, after what had just happened, Myra was already looking forward to moving out of the Thomson family.
She'd never thought much about it before, planning to stay with them forever.
But now, after the divorce, she felt an urgent need to leave the Thomson family.
Though her parents were gone, they'd left her plenty of properties.
Britney had once thought she was the victorious one after enduring all these years.
But now, seeing Myra's calm, she didn't feel victorious at all.
Myra hadn't said a single word to her.
The only thing Myra did was glance at her before boarding the plane, and after that, not even a second look.
Clearly, she didn't consider Britney worth her attention.
But that was fine.
As long as she could officially join the Thomson family as Mrs. Thomson, it was all worth it.
"Darling, when are we going back to the Thomson family?" Britney asked Edward, barely able to hide her excitement.
Edward hesitated, looking at Harrison.
Harrison stared at his phone for a while before replying, "I haven't told Grandpa about your situation yet."
"Well, no need to announce it in advance. We can just show up and surprise Lorenzo," Britney said smugly.
Edward wanted to stop her, but didn't get the chance.
Seeing Harrison's cold expression, he knew
Britney had just pissed him off.
