One night stand with my president(chapter 368)

Chapter 368: It's Been a While

Edward was currently in the room next door with Britney and Alondra.

Last night, they had been moved from a small inn to this hotel.

Edward had a sinking feeling about what was coming.

The New Year had passed.

The Thomson family valued the holiday traditions, and he knew that.

Now that the New Year was over, it was time for Harrison to finally tell the Thomson fam everything.

Edward paced nervously in the room, his anxiety growing.

He wasn't sure how the Thomson family would react once they learned about his situation.

Nor did he know what was in store for their family once they did.

His mind was a storm of uncertainty.

Alondra, despite her youth, had sensed that

something major was happening, and now she huddled quietly in Britney's arms, not daring to speak.

Britney, holding Alondra tightly, watched Edward pace back and forth, her heart racing with worry.

She had come to realize that, right now, the most dangerous one wasn't Edward.

Edward was part of the Thomson family.

And Alondra was his daughter.

Britney was Edward's wife, but in truth, she was nothing more than the other woman in marriage.

That was something she knew all too well.

But she refused to admit it to herself.

If the Thomson family took Edward and Alondra back with them, leaving her behind, she didn't know how to live on.

"Don't pace back and forth. Think of something!"

Britney urged, panic in her voice.

"I am!" Edward replied, pulling at his hair

in frustration.

Just then, a knock came at the door.

Edward froze.

His body tensed, and instinctively, he wanted to hide.

"You answer the door," he said, his voice tight with unease.

"Me? What if it's someone from the Thomson family? How do I face them?" Britney whispered, her tone full of dread. "You go. You're the man here. What's there to fear?"

Edward forced himself to stand tall, thinkin

"Face it, no running from it."

He walked to the door, his hand shaking as ne turned the knob.

Standing on the other side was Harrison.

"Harrison..." Edward breathed a sign of relief.

At least it was Harrison, someone he knew.

If it had been someone else from the Thomson family, he wouldn't know how to react.

"My mom wants to see you," Harrison said coldly.

Edward's heart dropped again, the brief relief vanishing.

His voice faltered. "Your mom... is she here?"

"She's in the next room," Harrison replied. "She wants to see you."

A wave of fear gripped Edward's chest.

He knew exactly how much he had wronged

Myra, so the thought of facing her filled him with dread.

Britney, upon hearing that Edward was about to see Myra, immediately became alert.

She set Alondra down and said, "I'm c

Harrison shot her an icy look.

Britney flinched but stood firm. "I want to face this with my husband."

"Enough, don't say any more," Edward cut her off, panic in his voice.

He knew that sooner or later, the two of them

would have to meet.

But he didn't want that moment to come any sooner.

After all, both of them were his wives.

He never divorced Myra and married Britney in Yewhaina.

He had no idea how to handle it if the two women met.

"Come with me," Harrison said, turning toward the door of the next room.

"You stay here with Alondra. Don't come yet."

Edward hurriedly told Britney and step the room, closing the door behind.

"Mommy, where is Daddy going?" Alondra asked anxiously, tugging at Britney's hand. "Will he come back?"

Britney muttered, "I don't know... I don't know if your dad will come back."

Edward followed Harrison to the door of the next room but stopped just before entering.

His body trembled with fear.

When he first decided to fake his death and run away with Britney, he knew this day might come.

But now that it was actually here, he was paralyzed with panic.

"What's wrong?" Harrison sneered. "Scared to face my mom?"

"Has... has she already found out everything?"

Edward asked, his voice shaking.

"Yeah, I told her everything," Harrison answered, not waiting for Edward to respond. He pushed open the door.

Edward, left with no choice, stepped insid him.

As soon as he entered, he saw Myra sitting on the sofa.

She looked calm, though a little pale.

Edward thought, "She really takes care of herself, doesn't she? She looks almost the same as I remember."

After all these years, his memories of Myra had blurred.

But seeing her again, it all came rushing back.

He opened his mouth to speak but didn't know how to address her.

When they were younger, he used to call her

"Myie," and after they married, sometimes

"Honey."

But now, what right did he have to call her that?

At that moment, Myra looked up at him.

He tried to read her expression-excitement, joy, or maybe resentment?

But there was nothing-nothing at all

She simply looked at him calmly.

And that, more than anything, made Edward's heart race with unease.

Finally, Myra spoke. "It's been lone."

Her voice was also calm.

It was as if they were simply old friends meeting after many years.

She stood up as she said it and locked eyes with Edward in silence.

At that moment, neither Harrison nor Adeline had expected this from Myra.

When she first learned Edward was still alive, she had been overwhelmed with emotion.

But after Harrison explained everything, she grew strangely calm, as though she were hearing a story that had nothing to do with her.

Myra had just said she wanted to see Edward.

When Harrison went to fetch him, she even chatted with Adeline, sincerely apologizing.

She admitted she had wronged Adeline.

She said that words alone couldn't ma

her past actions, but she would show her regret through actions from now on. Myra promised to treat Adeline as her own daughter.

Naturally, Adeline couldn't make things difficult for her.

After all, Myra was Harrison's mother.

And the Myra standing before them now was

indeed different from the past.

When he heard Myra's words, something inside Edward twisted, and for some reason, his eyes burned.

Time really does fly.

In the blink of an eye, more than a decade had passed.

"It's been lone..." Edward choked, his voice breaking. "I'm sorry."
