One night stand with my president(chapter 358)

Chapter 358: You've Gone Overboard

Harrison lowered his gaze, his voice heavy.

"After all, he is my father. I'm just afraid you might think that I'm like him."

"How could I?" Adeline reached up and ruffled his hair playfully. "You're different."

After all, given what Edward had done, no normal person would ever behave like that.

"Adeline." Harrison suddenly wrapped his arms around her, his voice trembling as he said, "Don't leave me."

At that moment, he felt utterly lost and vulnerable.

And it broke Adeline's heart.

She had known Harrison for over five years, but z she had never seen him like this.

In the past, no matter how tough things got or how complicated the situation was, Harrison had always been calm, collected, and in control.

But this was the first time Adeline had seen him so fragile.

"I'll never leave you," Adeline said softly, patting his back. "Harrison, in this life, I will love only you."

"Me too."

After returning to the Mendoza estate, they found the front yard filled with boxes.

The large yard was nearly overflowing.

Isaac and Gracie were directing the servants to carry things into the storage rooms.

Joyce was also there, happily joining the hustle and bustle.

"Mom, Dad, what's all this?" Adeline asked, her curiosity piqued.

Gracie glanced at Harrison and smiled.

"These are all gifts from Mr. Thomson."

"Gifts?" Adeline's eyes widened in shock as she looked at Harrison. "So many gifts?"

Harrison cleared his throat, his tone somewhat sheepish. "I may have gone a little overboard."

He had made a list of gifts before coming to Yewhaina and had arranged for them to be prepared.

In his haste to find Adeline, he hadn't waited for all of them to be packed, so the gifts had arrived two days later.

He knew the Mendoza family was wealthy and didn't need these things, but since he was about to visit his future in-laws, it was only right to show proper respect.

"You two just came back from somewhere?"

Gracie asked casually.

At her question, Harrison's mind immediately flashed back to earlier events.

However, by the time they had returned, he had regained his composure and showed no signs of agitation in front of Gracie.

"I visited an old acquaintance in Yewhaina," he replied calmly.

Gracie didn't pry any further.

Once the gifts were all stored away, they sat down in the living room for coffee.

Harrison, feeling the weight of the

moment, decided to share the truth about his father with the rest of them.

This wasn't something small, after all.

The Mendoza family was Adeline's family, and that made them his family too.

He didn't want to keep secrets from them.

He also wanted to see if he could even manage to tell the story without breaking down.

That way, if he had to share this with the Thomson family later, he would at least know how to articulate the truth.

After hearing Harrison's account, the Mendoza family and Joyce were left speechless.

They couldn't believe such a thing could happen, let alone that it had occurred within the Thomson family.

"No one must know about this for now," Adeline said firmly.

Everyone nodded in agreement.

Even if Adeline hadn't said so, they wouldn't have gone spreading this around.

They all understood that by sharing this with them, Harrison had shown them a great deal of trust and respect. It was their turn to return that respect.

And more importantly, this was not something to be gossiped about.

At that moment, Isaac and Gracie exchanged glances, their hearts aching for Harrison.

What a poor child! He had been so close to his father, only to later find out that his father had passed away without him even having the chance to say goodbye. How heartbroken must he have been? And for all those years, how much had he missed his father? Now, to discover this brutal truth that his father's death had been faked just so he could elope with another woman, abandoning his wife and child.

Isaac was so angry he almost wanted to punch Edward, but then he remembered Harrison and held himself back, afraid it would make things worse.

Gracie gently patted Harrison's shoulder. "I know it must be hard on you right now. Since you consider us your family, you don't need to worry here. You can take it easy. If you don't feel like smiling, don't. If you want to stay in your room and rest, do it. If you need anything, just let us know. Don't feel uncomfortable."

Harrison nodded slightly. "Thank you, Gracie, but... I'm fine now."

Gracie sighed softly.

Could he really be fine? He was just putting on a brave face.

"Mom, I've already told him these," Adeline said with a small smile.

Even though she hadn't known the Mendoza family for that long, she had quickly come to understand their personalities.

After a short conversation, everyone returned to their respective rooms.

Harrison fell asleep quickly.

Adeline tucked him in and quietly slipped out of the room.

Joyce was waiting for her by the door.

As Adeline gently closed the door, Joyce's voice was full of concern. "Is Mr. Thomson alright?"

"He's a strong person inside," Adeline said, her voice calm. "When he wakes up, he should be back to the old Harrison. But he's still hurting inside."

And that was what worried Adeline the most.

"I can't believe this is happening," Joyce said, shaking her head. "His father is just too much."

She had originally wanted to say, 'His father is such a scumbag, but after thinking about it, she stopped herself. After all, Edward was still Harrison's father.

Just then, a maid approached and respectfully said, "Miss Mendoza, Miss Monroe, lunch is ready."

"Thanks."

Harrison had just fallen asleep, and Adeline didn't want to wake him.

He probably wouldn't feel like eating anyway, so it was better to let him sleep for now.

When he woke up, she'd bake him some cookies.

As they made their way downstairs, the maid spoke up again. "Mr. Livingston is here."

Adeline stopped dead in her tracks and thought, "Pedro? The man was back again?"

Perfect timing. She was going to have a little chat with him about those troublemakers .

"Who's Pedro?" Joyce asked, curious.

Adeline quickly explained.

Joyce chuckled. "Ah, so you're a magnet for trouble. Wherever you go, you attract all the attention."

"I'd rather not," Adeline sighed. "If I were single and didn't have anyone I cared about, it wouldn't matter. But now I have Harrison, and he's jealous. More attention just means more trouble."

"Well, can you share some of that attention with me?" Joyce teased.

"You don't need me for that," Adeline shot back.

"Ugh, don't even talk about my own 'troubles."

Joyce sighed dramatically.

The two women continued chatting as they entered the dining room, where they found Pedro already sitting there.

Pedro had mentally prepared himself to see Harrison and feel the discomfort in his chest, but to his surprise, Harrison wasn't there.

Instead, he was greeted by the sight of Joyce, and suddenly, his interest was piqued.
