Chapter 347 My Boyfriend Is Right
Just locking eyes with Harrison, Pedro already felt a bit nervous.
He had been hoping that Adeline would step in and say something on his behalf.
However, Adeline merely nodded and said, "My boyfriend is right."
Pedro was speechless.
This was hard.
It had already been difficult trying to win over Adeline.
Now, with Harrison in the picture, things had gotten even tougher.
It was like trying to climb an even steeper mountain.
If it hadn't been for the Mendoza family's wealth, Pedro might have given up by now.
"Let's go," Harrison said to Adeline.
He was annoyed by Pedro and didn't want to see him anymore.
"Okay," Adeline responded
Adeline turned to Pedro and said, "My parents are not home, and my brother is resting in his room. We're heading out now, so you..."
The meaning of her words was clear.
But Pedro didn't seem to take the hint.
With no other choice, Adeline had to ask one of the maids to serve Pedro some coffee.
Before leaving, she reminded the maids to take good care of him.
And then, she and Harrison left hand in hand.
Pedro wanted to leave but was so angry that he couldn't move.
After Adeline and Harrison left, he plopped down on the couch in the living room, sulking.
At this moment, a maid brought over the coffee for him.
When Pedro saw that the maid was young and beautiful, a thought flashed in his mind.
He gave what he thought was a charming smile and said, "Oh, beautiful maid, would you like to sit down and have a cup of coffee with me?"
However, the maid merely glanced at him coldly and replied, "Sorry, Mr. Livingston, I still have a lot of work to do."
She placed the coffee on the table and left without a second glance.
Pedro was dumbfounded.
He couldn't charm the Mendoza family's young lady, and now he couldn't even charm their maid.
After they got into the car, Harrison was still savoring Adeline's words, "my boyfriend."
Adeline fastened her seatbelt and saw that Harrison wasn't buckling up and wasn't starting the car either. He was just sitting there, staring into space. Unable to resist, she waved her hand in front of his face.
"What's up? What are you thinking about?"
"I was thinking... I'm your boyfriend now,"
Harrison said with a smile. "I must say, I'm quite honored."
Adeline couldn't help but laugh. She reached out to pinch his cheek and said, "Stop being silly.
Let's go. I just got a message from Joyce.
She said she'll be arriving in Yewhaina tonight. We need to pick her up."
"Miss Monroe is coming too?" Harrison asked.
"Yeah," Adeline replied, "She's spending
Christmas with us this year."
Harrison said, "If I had known, I should have brought Sam along."
Adeline rolled her eyes. "He doesn't like Joyce. Why would I bring him? That would only make Joyce feel bad. Plus, Joyce is already trying to move on from him."
As he started the car, Harrison said, "Sam might not dislike Miss Monroe. Just like how I thought I didn't like you at first."
"What? You didn't like me?" Adeline asked, pretending to be angry.
"I meant back then," Harrison clarified quickly. "It was just a misunderstanding. I must have liked you from the very beginning. Maybe even fell for you at first sight."
Adeline teased. "Don't talk nonsense."
"I'm serious. Otherwise, how do you explain that I picked you out during the interview?"
Harrison said with a wink.
Adeline thought back to the interview.
Come to think of it, Harrison had been the one to personally interview her when she first joined the Thomson Group's executive office.
Actually, Harrison wasn't usually in charge of interviews.
But that time, he had suddenly taken an interest and decided to play the role of interviewer for a while.
Coincidentally, Adeline had been one of the candidates he interviewed.
Later, Adeline was the only one from that batch who got through.
"You still have the nerve to mention that?" -
Adeline couldn't help but laugh at the memory. "You were grilling me with questions right after I introduced myself. I couldn't handle it at all. I almost cried."
"Really?" Harrison was surprised. "No way. I distinctly remember you answering smoothly, which made me admire you even more."
"I was panicking inside, but I couldn't show it," Adeline said. "I was racking my brain to come up with answers to your questions."
Even though Adeline said so, Harrison still doubted it.
Back then, he hadn't noticed any signs of her being nervous.
He clearly remembered thinking that Adeline was young but so calm.
"Although I asked you a lot of questions, I wasn't targeting you," Harrison explained. "I treat every candidate like that."
"Yeah, I remember," Adeline said with a smile., "The guy who was interviewed before me came out crying. Tears and snot everywhere."
Harrison didn't really recall that man, but he chuckled at the thought.
"Looking back... I'm really glad I let you into the executive office," Harrison said softly.
If he hadn't, he would never have had the chance to get close to Adeline and never have had the chance to make her fall in love with him, or to be together with her.
He might have ended up single forever.
Adeline checked the map and directed Harrison to a nearby park.
It wasn't very big, just a small recreational area.
There was a lake, and the guide mentioned there were swans on the lake, but neither Adeline nor Harrison saw any.
After taking a stroll around, they left.
They thought about visiting another interesting spot, but it was too far. Adeline didn't want to risk not being able to make it to pick up Joyce, so they ended up at a nearby mall to catch a movie instead.
But after checking online, Adeline found that there weren't any good movies playing, so she dragged Harrison around the mall instead.
"Want to buy some clothes?" Adeline asked.
"I'll buy them for you."
Harrison immediately agreed. "Sure."
Though he usually wore custom-made clothes or stuck to a few select brands, he couldn't refuse his girlfriend from buying him clothes.
"But why the sudden desire to buy me clothes?" Harrison asked.
As they walked toward a men's clothing store, Adeline suddenly stopped. She stood on her tiptoes and leaned in close to his ear, whispering, "You've worked hard today. I'm rewarding you."
Then, she couldn't help but giggle.
Harrison was completely captivated by her words, but since they were in a mall, he couldn't do much about it. He could only squeeze her hand tightly and whisper, "Stop teasing me."
"What teasing?" Adeline blinked innocently.
"I really want to reward you."
Harrison took a deep breath, trying to control the fluttering thoughts in his mind.
"Alright, I'm not teasing you anymore,"
Adeline said, shaking his arm lightly. "I just feel like, now that I'm your girlfriend, I should make you look even better. You already dress well, but I still want to indulge myself a little."
