Chapter 333: If Only They Didn't Fight
When Harrison returned to the Thomson family estate, he noticed several relatives had already arrived.
These relatives, who lived out of town, came every year to celebrate Christmas with the family and typically arrived a few days early to stay at the estate.
Myra had made sure all the guest rooms were cleaned and prepared well in advance.
The moment Harrison walked in, the relatives stood up to greet him.
"Harrison, you're back!"
"Hey, Harrison!"
Harrison nodded politely to each of them, maintaining his usual courteous demeanor.
But the intense atmosphere surrounding him made everyone hesitant to say much.
"Harrison, what's wrong?" Myra asked, noticing something off about him. "Did something happen?"
Harrison shook his head and replied, "It's • nothing."
Myra observed him for a moment before asking, "Is Miss Hensley coming over this year?"
Last year, Adeline had come to help with Christmas preparations for a couple of days.
Her question only deepened the ache in Harrison's chest.
He missed her so much.
If only they hadn't had a fight.
At least then, he could have gone to the airport to see her off today.
Instead, all he could do was watch helplessly from across the street as Russell escorted her.
"She left with the Mendoza family for Yewhaina today," Harrison said.
Myra nodded.
The Thomson family already knew that Adeline was the heiress of the Mendoza family.
But Myra suspected Harrison's unease wasn't just because Adeline had left for
Yewhaina. Judging by his expression, they must've had an argument.
She sighed and said, "Harrison, I'm your mother, so don't blame me for speaking my mind. It's normal to argue in relationships. But no matter how upset you are, you can't be seen going to a hotel with another woman. That's just pushing Miss Hensley away!"
Harrison was at a loss for words.
So Myra had seen the gossip news as well.
"I didn't take any other woman to a hotel, Harrison said helplessly.
"Then you'd better explain it to your grandfather soon," Myra whispered. "He saw the news this morning and has been fuming ever since."
Harrison sighed deeply and thought, "Even my family have misunderstood me. Did that mean Adeline has, too? And why hasn't she reacted?"
After heading upstairs, the relatives began showering Myra with compliments. They told her how lucky she was to have such an outstanding son and predicted she'd enjoy a life comfort in the future.
Someone even asked if Harrison had a girlfriend and offered to introduce him to someone—a neighbor's uncle's coworker's cousin's daughter, who they claimed was wonderful.
These suggestions came up every year.
Previously, Myra would smile and say she already had plans in mind.
She had always envisioned Harrison marrying someone from a family of equal standing.
But this time, she smiled and said, "Harrison already has someone he likes."
"Really? It's not that model from this morning's gossip, is it?"
"Of course not," Myra said with a laugh.
"You'll find out who it is soon enough."
Lorenzo was sitting in his study, resting in his grand armchair with his eyes closed.
When he heard a knock at the door, he said curtly, "Come in."
When he saw that it was Harrison, his expression darkened, and he let out a cold snort.
"Grandfather," Harrison greeted him.
"You're back," Lorenzo said. "Do you know why I called you here?"
Harrison had initially thought it was because
Christmas was approaching.
But judging by Lorenzo's tone, it was about the gossip involving him and the model.
"Grandfather, there's nothing between me and that woman," Harrison explained.
"Nothing? And yet you took her to a hotel?" Lorenzo retorted, slamming his hand on the armrest of his chair.
"Careful, you'll hurt your hand," Harrison said wearily. "I didn't take her to the hotel. It's all a misunderstanding. I stayed there alone last night."
"Oh, really?" Lorenzo said.
He had been skeptical. He knew Harrison wasn't the type to act recklessly, but the gossip seemed so convincing. Plus, with Adeline leaving for Yewhaina, he had wondered if Harrison was acting out of despair.
Now that Harrison had clarified, Lorenzo felt reassured.
After all, he only approved of Adeline. No one else would do.
"Have you explained things to Miss Hensley?" Lorenzo asked.
Harrison remained silent.
"Well? Answer me," Lorenzo said, frowning.
"If you don't explain, what if Miss Hensley misunderstands?"
"She hasn't asked," Harrison muttered.
Maybe she didn't even care.
Lorenzo couldn't help but chuckle in disbelief.
"So there's gossip about you and another woman, and instead of clearing things up, you re just waiting for her to confront you?"
Harrison stayed silent.
He understood Lorenzo's point.
But ever since their fight, he'd been uneasy.
He wanted to know how important he was in Adeline's heart and how much she cared about him.
He knew he should take the initiative to explain, but part of him wanted her to ask first-even if it was in anger and even if she yelled at him. At least that would mean she cared.
But she hadn't...
Harrison tried to reassure himself.
"Maybe she hasn't seen the news yet. Or perhaps she was boarding the plane and didn't have time to contact me."
Maybe once she arrived in Yewhaina, she would call him to scold him.
Lorenzo looked at him, sighed, and said, "I'm still in good health. I can live another ten or twenty years, no problem. If you don't spend Christmas here this year, it's fine."
Harrison understood the implication behind
Lorenzo's words.
Lorenzo had always valued Christmas as a time for family to come together.
Harrison, as his favorite grandson, was expected to be present every year without fail.
But this year, for Adeline, Lorenzo was willing to make an exception.
After a brief pause, Harrison said, "I understand, Grandfather."
After leaving Lorenzo's study, Harrison headed downstairs. The lively chatter in the living room was too noisy for him, so he stepped outside into the courtyard.
The cold air cleared his head somewhat.
A figure slowly approached him.
Harrison turned to see who it was.
It was Marshall.
"Harrison," Marshall said with a smile as he walked over. "Why are you standing out here alone?"
Harrison rubbed his temples and said, “Nothing, it’s too noisy inside.”
“You didn’t seem to be in the right mood,” said Marshall. “Is it because Miss Hensley isn’t around?”

I don't understand how Harrison take things. Now he will be running after Adeline whereas he had plenty of time and waited
