Chapter 376 I Know Better Than You
Harrison knew that Lorenzo was deeply. concerned about his relationship with Adeline.
He chuckled and said, "We've made up."
"That's good," Lorenzo exhaled in relief.
"She's a rare gem. Whoever marries her is truly fortunate. I know Ronan likes her, and Russell does too, but she has her eyes on you. That's your lucky break don't let it slip away."
Harrison couldn't help but respond, "I'm with her because I truly like her, nothing else."
"Of course, I know that," Lorenzo said. "I'm just reminding you to treat her well. Don't let her down, and don't end up like your father..."
Harrison's eyes darkened. "I will never let her down."
Lorenzo nodded: "As for your mother... we owe her. I want to make it right."
Harrison lowered his gaze. "She probably doesn't need it."
"Whether she needs it or not is her business.
But if I do nothing, my conscience won't let me rest." Lorenzo's voice wavered.
Harrison sighed. "Then just transfer a few of the stores under your name to her. Please, don't give her any shares of the Thomson Group. She told me today that she'll be transferring all her shares to me in a few days."
Myra truly wanted to sever ties with the Thomson family.
Naturally, she didn't want anything to do with the Thomson Group.
But there was no way she could turn her back on Harrison, her son.
Lorenzo nodded, understanding.
After Harrison left, and Joyce followed him out, Adeline couldn't help but feel a little lonely.
But at least she was with family, so her mood wasn't entirely bleak. That afternoon, she went shopping with Gracie.
Normally, Gracie would have the latest clothes and bags sent to her home by store attendants, but now that she had a daughter, she wanted to savor the experience of shopping with her.
In the evening, after their shopping trip, Gracie and Adeline returned home to find Pedro sitting on the couch.
Adeline wondered, "Why is he back again?"
After the last time he had to apologize to Harrison, he probably felt embarrassed and hadn't been around the Mendoza family since.
Of course, Adeline was happy to have some peace and quiet.
But here he was, showing up again today.
"Gracie, Adeline." Pedro stood up to greet them.
"Finally, you're back."
"Pedro, what's going on?" Gracie asked with a smile.
Pedro eyed Adeline before licking his lips and saying, "Gracie, I came to give you the invitation."
"Invitation?" Gracie asked, surprised. "Is something happening at the Livingston family?"
"Well, in two days, it'll be my parents' wedding anniversary," Pedro explained.
"They're throwing a party at our house, and we'd love for you to come."
He handed Gracie an invitation.
Gracie took the card and smiled. "What's with this sudden anniversary celebration? Your mom never mentioned anything about it before."
"It's just a spur-of-the-moment idea," Pedro replied. "They've been married over twenty years, and thought it was time to throw a party."
Gracie nodded. "Alright, we'll be there in two days, on time."
"That's great. My mom will be so happy to have you there."
Pedro turned his attention to Adeline.
"What about Mr. Thomson?" he asked, feigning ignorance.
"He went back to Orianto," Adeline replied coolly.
Pedro chuckled. "Mr. Thomson's that busy?
Leaving so early, and without you? But I guess, since he's managing the whole Thomson family, being busy is normal."
Adeline gave him a tight smile. "You seem quite concerned about him."
"I'm not concerned about him," Pedro shot back.
"I'm concerned about you. Adeline, a man like Harrison doesn't lack money or women. If you don't keep a close eye on him, he might stray. You're in a long-distance relationship, how can you trust him? You won't know what he's doing or who he's with, and that's not safe, is it?"
"Well, sorry to disappoint you, but I feel pretty safe," Adeline replied. "And after knowing him for over five years, I think I know him better than you do."
Pedro was left embarrassed, biting his lip, his face turning awkward.
Gracie stepped in to diffuse the tension.
"Pedro, I know you care about Adeline, but we all think Harrison is a good guy. He won't do anything to hurt her, so don't worry about it. By the way, dinner should be ready soon. Why don't you stay for dinner?"
"Thanks for the offer, but l've got some things to take care of.'
"Alright," Gracie said, nodding. "Then I won't keep you. Go ahead and take care of it."
After Pedro left, Gracie turned to Adeline. "I know you don't like him, but don't let him get to you."
"Don't worry, Mom," Adeline smiled. "As long as he stays out of my way and leaves the people around me alone, I won't waste my energy on him."
"Good. In two days, I'll have a word with his mother, set him straight," Gracie said. "Will you come with me?"
Adeline nodded.,
Gracie was good friends with Litzy Livingston, and since she had just returned to the Mendoza family, not going to the Livingston family's party would feel off.
Gracie also didn't want to seem rude.
After all, it was just a party. If it got boring, she could always leave early.
With some time before dinner, Adeline retreated to her room and took out her phone to chat with Harrison.
Whenever they had a moment, they'd send each other messages-even just sharing memes-never tiring of each other's company.
"What are you doing?"
After a while, Harrison replied, "Just finished playing chess with Grandpa. I was checking my phone."
"Did you win?"
"No, I lost. Grandpa's a chess master."
Adeline thought for a moment, then messaged, "How's Lorenzo been these days? Is he feeling alright?"
"Don't worry. He's fine."
Harrison looked at his phone screen, his eyes soft with affection.
As soon as Lorenzo saw him like this, he knew he was chatting with Adeline. He sighed and stood up. "After playing chess for so long, Im exhausted. I'm going downstairs for a walk."
He left the room.
Harrison continued texting Adeline, but about ten minutes later, there was a knock on the door.
A servant's voice was urgent.
"Mr. Harrison, you need to come out. There's been an incident.."
