One night stand with my president (chapter 366)

Chapter 366: Not a Chance

Someone gently nudged the speaker.

Realizing the slip, the speaker quickly added, "I just heard it... not necessarily true."

As he spoke, he cautiously glanced at Alberto.

Alberto gave a faint smile and said, "I'm fine.

Connie and I have been broken up for a long time. You can talk about her as you wish. No need to worry about me."

Though he said that, the people he was talking to were old friends, and they all knew his heart too well.

Back in the day, Alberto and Connie Miller had been inseparable, but in the end, they parted ways.

Even after the breakup, Alberto still hadn't fully moved on from his relationship with Connie. He just didn't show it on the surface.

The friends fell silent, unsure of what to say, until Alberto finally asked,”So... who is she marrying?"

"I heard it's a guy she met at a bar."

At these words, Alberto scoffed and fell silent.

The friends quickly changed the topic.

Not long after, Alberto excused himself, claiming dizziness, and headed back to his room.

As they watched him leave, the others felt a pang of discomfort.

"He still can't let go, can he?"

"They've known each other since high school and were in a ten-year relationship. How could he just get over it? It's your fault for bringing up Connie."

"I was just being careless... Alas, ten years of love, and Alberto can't let go, yet Connie is moving on so easily, even planning to marry someone else."

"Maybe Connie was hurt too deeply in this relationship."

"But why did they have to break up? I thought Alberto was joking when he told us they'd split up."

"I thought they'd get back together quickly. Who knew they'd really break up? And still haven't gotten back together."

"I don't know the details. Maybe only they understand."

Back in his room, Alberto closed the door and let himself slump to the floor, head hanging low.

After a moment, a single tear dropped onto the floor.

The girl who had been his companion through his youth-now, she was going to marry someone else.

Seeing Adeline with Harrison, Alberto couldn't help but feel a sharp pang of envy.

If he hadn't broken up with Connie, would they still be happy together now?

The thought of Connie marrying someone else made him lose control. Without thinking, he grabbed his phone and dialed a number he knew by heart.

But before the call connected, he paused and hung up.

With Connie about to get married, it would be wrong to disturb her now, especially as her ex.

If he could, he hoped she'd be happy.

And he would just stay out of her way.

After the banquet, guests gradually began to leave, but Benjamin remained seated on the Mendoza family's living room sofa, completely unfazed.

Isaac was close to losing his patience with him.

Adeline and Harrison weren't paying him any attention at all.

After the event, they'd gone off to their room to watch a movie.

So Benjamin had been stuck dragging Isaac into the conversation.

The thing was, there was nothing to talk about.

It ended up being nothing but awkward small talk.

Meanwhile, Gracie had gone for coffee with her friends, Alberto was holed up in his room, and Joyce wasn't familiar with Benjamin.

So, Isaac was the one left to suffer through it all.

Finally, Isaac couldn't take it anymore.

With a strained smile, he said, "Mr. Tillman, I think it's getting late... perhaps it's time for you to head back?"

He probably should've been more polite, but his frustration had reached its peak.

Benjamin grinned, saying, "Mr. Mendoza, I've been struggling to find a good hotel in Yewhaina. Since I plan to stay for a couple of days, would it be possible for me to stay at the Mendoza family for a while?"

Isaac stared at him, speechless.

This guy actually wanted to stay at his house? If it had been anyone else, he might have agreed.

The Mendoza family had plenty of guest rooms, and there might even be business dealings later-building rapport was important.

But this was Benjamin.

Adeline didn't like him, and Isaac couldn't stand him either.

Isaac chuckled in a way that barely concealed his annoyance, "Well, let me see... I'll arrange for a room at one of the Mendoza Group's hotels. I have full confidence in their quality. Anything you need, Mr. Tillman, our hotels will be able to accommodate."

Benjamin was silent, unimpressed.

No matter what he said, Isaac didn't seem willing to give in.

Benjamin couldn't understand it-why did the Mendoza family seem to favor Harrison?

Was it just because he treated Adeline like a stand-in?

Even if he did, as long as he was with Adeline, he would treat her well.

Couldn't the Mendoza family just give him a chance?

Deep down, Benjamin had always been somewhat arrogant.

Growing up, he always got what he wanted.

Whitney's death had been the only major blow he'd ever experienced.

Because of that, he was a bit self-centered.

Now, even though he knew where he went wrong, he refused to admit it and instead shifted the blame onto others.

Seeing Isaac growing more impatient, Benjamin decided not to provoke him further and stood up to leave.

As Isaac breathed a sigh of relief, Benjamin finally took his leave, and Isaac returned to his room to , sleep.

As Benjamin left the Mendoza family, he wore a dark expression. His subordinates kept quiet.

Once in the car, Benjamin noticed a black car parked on the opposite side of the street.

"Whose car is that?" he asked.

"That's Pedro's car,' his subordinate replied.

Pedro had wanted to attend the banquet but felt too embarrassed. He kept getting in and out of the car in front of the Mendoza family's door,  never quite making it inside.

Benjamin racked his brain but couldn't quite remember who Pedro was. After all, the Livingston family wasn't on his radar.

His subordinate continued, "After arriving in Mugroaton, I heard the Livingston family is close to the Mendoza family. Pedro's smitten with Miss Mendoza and has been pursuing her. Too bad Miss Mendoza is already..."

He quickly cut himself off, afraid mentioning

Harrison might upset Benjamin.

But Benjamin didn't even notice. His mind was elsewhere.

"If Pedro likes Adeline, then he's Harrison's enemy," he thought.

"An enemy of my enemy is my friend... and someone I could use to my advantage."
