Chapter 367: I Won't Look Down on Him
The new year had passed, and the party for Adeline was over. Harrison finally made up his mind and dialed Myra's number.
However, he didn't say much over the phone.
He simply told her that something serious had happened and she needed to come to Yewhaina in person.
He hadn't told anyone else in the Thomson family yet.
Technically, he should have informed Lorenzo.
But Lorenzo was getting older, and Harrison was reluctant to tell him directly, fearing it would too much of a shock for him.
So, Harrison decided to wait until Myra arrived, and after she knew the situation, he would discuss it with her.
When Myra received Harrison's call, she was puzzled.
What could have happened in Yewhaina that required her to come? But she knew Harrison.
If there hadn't been a real issue, he wouldn't have called her to come.
So, she didn't delay and immediately boarded a private plane to Yewhaina.
Harrison and Adeline came to the airport to pick her up.
Originally, Isaac and Gracie were also supposed to come, but something urgent came up at the company, and Alberto was still recovering, so the two of them had to go to the company and asked Adeline to pass on their greetings to Myra.
When she saw Adeline, Myra actually felt guilty.
After all, her attitude toward Adeline in the past wasn't exactly warm.
Yet, when Myra was being attacked online, Adeline still comforted her without holding a grudge.
Thinking about it now, Myra realized she had wronged Adeline.
Adeline and Harrison were such a perfect match, yet she had tried to stop them from being together.
But Adeline didn't show any signs of resentment or mockery, remaining polite and courteous toward her.
In fact, Myra had a strange feeling that Adeline might even be looking at her with a hint of sympathy and pity.
She froze for a moment and then quickly dismissed the thought, sure it was just her imagination.
Adeline might not bear a grudge, bi was no reason for her to pity her?
"Harrison, what on earth happened?" Myra asked as she walked with them toward the airport exit.
Harrison hesitated for a moment and said, "Let's talk at the hotel."
They were worried that Myra might lose her composure when she heard the truth, so they decided not to take her to the Mendoza family house. Instead, they booked a room for her at the hotel.
After all, Myra was someone who cared about her image.
If she lost control at the Mendoza family, she'd regret it later.
And at the hotel, it would also be more convenient for her to meet Edward.
Myra looked at Harrison and Adeline, both of whom appeared fine, and her heart had calmed down. But then, when she saw the heavy expression on Harrison's face, her heart sank again.
After they arrived at the hotel, Adel several glasses of water nearby.
If Myra became too emotional, she could have a drink and calm down.
"What exactly do you want to tell me?" Myra asked helplessly. "Come on, what's something l haven't experienced before?"
"Mom, I met someone by chance here in Yewhaina," Harrison said. "Someone who was supposed to be dead."
Myra froze for a moment.
But soon, her face grew stiff as she realized what he was saying.
She remembered when Harrison called her earlier and asked if she had thought about Edward.
She forced a smile and said, "Harrison, you're in a relationship now and you're learning to joke around, huh?"
"Mom, I'm not joking," Harrison said seriously.
"Dad.. he's still alive."
His words dropped into Myra's mind bombshell, leaving her mind blank.
"This can't be!" she blurted out. "It's been more than a decade... how can he still be alive? The explosion... it was clear, it was clear...
She was so shocked that her words faltered.
But soon, a wave of intense joy washed over her because she realized Harrison wouldn't joke about something like this.
That meant Edward was really still alive.
Her husband was still alive. This was incredible.
"Harrison, where is he? Where is.he?" Myra grabbed Harrison's arm, excited. "I need to see him."
"Mom, please calm down," Harrison said.
Looking at Harrison's sad eyes, Myra felt confused.
She thought, "If Edward is still alive, why does Harrison look so sorrowful?"
"What happened to him?" Myra asked.
She wondered if Edward was injured, disabled, or had amnesia.
But as long as they were reunited, it matter.
"Harrison, let me see him first. No matter what he looks like now, I'll be fine. I won't look down on him."
Seeing Myra like this, even Adeline couldn't help but well up with tears.
After all these years, Myra still cared for Edward.
The more she cared, the more heartbroken she would be when she learned the truth.
Harrison knew this too, so his heart ached for Myra even more.
Initially, he thought maybe he shouldn't tell Myra.
But he thought that it was unfair to Myra.
She had missed Edward for over a decade and might continue to do so.
But did Edward truly deserve this kind of longing from her?
After thinking it through, he felt that N the right to know the truth.
"Mom, Dad... he..."
Harrison didn't know how to say it.
"Whatever happens, let me see him first," Myra said impatiently.
"Mom, he's in the room next door," Harrison said.
As soon as Myra heard this, she immediately stood up, ready to go next door.
Harrison hurriedly stopped her.
"But there's something I have to tell you first," Harrison said. "He has a new wife now, and a daughter."
Myra froze again.
After a moment, she forced a bitter smile and said, "I get it. He must have lost his memory, right? That's why he hasn't come home for all these years... It's not his fault. If he's had amnesia and married someone else, that's understandable."
"He didn't lose his memory. That explosion was his plan for faking his death."
Harrison finally gathered his courage revealed the truth.
Since they had come this far, he knew he had to tell Myra the whole truth.
Better to tell her now than drag it out.
He just let her know the truth once and for all.
"What did you say?" Myra asked in disbelief.
"This can't be. It's not possible. He wouldn't do something like that."
Harrison didn't say anything further.
Myra's mind was reeling.
The husband she had missed for over a decade was still alive. But he had faked his death he had done it himself?
"Why? Why would he do this?" Myra thought.
