Chapter 364: Benjamin Comes

Adeline said awkwardly, "Can we not talk about this?"

"Seriously, you've never had a thing for Mr.

Hunter?" Joyce asked, her voice dripping with curiosity. "Not even a tiny bit?"

"No," Adeline said firmly.

By the time she met Russell, she had already fallen for Harrison.

And even if she hadn't liked Harrison, her feelings for Russell were nothing more than admiration for someone outstanding-no romantic feelings at all, and she was absolutely sure of that.

"Well, hearing that, I'm not sure whether to congratulate Mr. Thomson or feel sorry for Mr. Hunter."

Adeline fell silent for a moment before replying, "I think he's súch a great guy, he'll meet someone who truly loves him one day."

"Let's hope so."

Joyce laughed and then mischievously added, "If Mr. Thomson hears that, he'll be happy. I'll tell him tomorrow, just to make his day."

"He already knows."

"Speaking of which, where's Eleanor now?" Joyce asked. "That whole scandal with her was everywhere. I saw it, and it was so satisfying to see her true colors exposed. Everyone's still trashing her online. But where is she now?"

"After all that went down, she disappeared," Adeline said. "Most likely, Lance took her away."

No one else would have gone to such lengths to save Eleanor except him.

"What if she pops up again?" Joyce asked, her tone full of concern. "You've got to keep an eye on people like that."

"Don't worry. Harrison and I have people watching Lance's every move." Adeline reassured her.

"That's a relief." Joyce yawned. 

"Sometimes, too much attention from the opposite sex is a burden, especially when it's from the creepy kind."

"So, what's your plan after the New Year?" Adeline asked.

"Me? I plan to go wherever I feel like next."

Joyce was already half-asleep. After 

answering Adeline's question, she drifted off.

Adeline felt a bit sleepy too. She put down her phone and closed her eyes.

The Mendoza family's party would be held tomorrow. She hoped nothing crazy would happen.

The Mendoza family's banquet was held on the first day of the New Year, right at the Mendoza villa.

The living room was huge-perfect for hosting a grand banquet.

Even though the event was at noon, guests had started arriving early in the morning.

After all, it was the Mendoza family's event.

Plus, everyone was eager to see what the Mendoza family's long-lost daughter, finally

found after over twenty years, would be like.

For the ones with sons, before they left for the Mendoza villa, they couldn't help but remind them to behave well-who knew, they might catch the eye of the Mendoza family's daughter.

If one of them could marry into the Mendoza family, their company would thrive by association.

But when they got to the villa, they all realized their dreams had shattered

They saw the Mendoza family's daughter, stunning in a dress, and standing beside her, a tall, handsome, powerful-looking man.

Someone recognized Harrison and went over to greet him.

Even though the Thomson family wasn't based in Yewhaina, they still had some investments there.

Plus, Yewhaina had a lot of multinational companies, and there was a chance the Thomson family would collaborate with them, so they figured it couldn't hurt to make a good impression on Harrison.

Once all the guests had arrived, Isaac and Gracie introduced Adeline to everyone.

A lot of reporters were present too, all ready to cover Adeline's return.

Adeline had changed her last name to Mendoza and introduced herself as "Emeline" now, since she was officially recognized as part of the family.

However, she planned to keep her name as Adeline when she was back in Orianto.

After all, everyone in Orianto had gotten used to calling her Adeline, and she had too.

She'd already discussed this with the Mendoza family, and they didn't mind.

To them, a name was just a label.

Whether it was Emeline or Adeline, she was still their precious daughter.

The Mendoza family formally introduced Harrison, calling him Adeline's boyfriend.

Even though Harrison had always been by her side, several other men still couldn't take their eyes off her.

Adeline was just too stunning. Today, she'd only made a slight effort to dress up and still managed to leave a crowd of young men completely spellbound.

They all wanted to find a way to get closer to her.

But Harrison never left her side.

Midway through the banquet, the Mendoza family's butler rushed over to Isaac and said, "Sir, the Tillman family has arrived."

Isaac's brow furrowed.

"The Tillman family from Mugroaton?"

"Yes," the butler confirmed. "It's their eldest son."

Isaac immediately looked at Adeline.

He thought, "The eldest son of the Tillman family —wasn't that Benjamin?"

He was obviously here for Adeline.

"Don't let him in," Isaac said, his face darkening.

"Today is supposed to be a happy day. If he shows up, Adeline will be upset again."

It might offend the Tillman family, but Adeline's happiness was the most important thing to him, especially today.

But before the butler could even leave to stop him, Benjamin had already walked in with two people by his side.

He was dressed in a white suit, looking like he was here to steal a bride.

The two men behind him each carried a box.

The banquet was already halfway through, and now someone new had arrived, drawing the attention of many.

"Who's that?"

"If I'm not mistaken, that's the eldest son of the Tillman family. I met him once when I visited Mugroaton."

"What are the Tillman family doing here? Did they come all the way from Mugroaton?"

"The Mendoza family's influence really is something."

At this moment, Adeline spotted Benjamin.

And Benjamin spotted her too.

Their eyes locked, and Benjamin flashed a smile-one that was both happy and tender.

Adeline rolled her eyes.

Now that he was already inside, the Mendoza family couldn't kick him out in front of so many people.

Isaac had no choice but to approach him, forcing a smile.

"Mr. Tillman! Welcome."

Though it sounded like a "welcome," it was more like a “please leave.”
