One night stand with my president (chapter 372)

Chapter 372: Am I Really That Cruel?

"When are we going back to Orianto?" Britney asked.

Edward had just finished calming Alondra down.

Upon hearing her question, Edward replied, "The day after tomorrow."

Myra said that Adeline's family was in Yewhaina, so Edward should at least pay a visit.

And they would head back to Orianto the day after tomorrow.

Actually, Edward was eager to go too.

But now, he had no right to visit Harrison's in-laws as Harrison's father.

With a father like him, Harrison would only be the subject of ridicule.

Britney didn't say anything.

She had already begun scheming in her mind.

Since, after returning to Orianto, Myra and Edward would finalize their divorce, Myra wouldn't be an obstacle between them

anymore.

Therefore, her best move was to win over the Thomson family, starting with Lorenzo, Edward's father.

Even though there was still Harrison, Lorenzo was an elder, and Harrison would not dare defy Lorenzo's wishes.

Besides, Lorenzo's first son, whom he thought was dead, had suddenly come back to life, bringing home a granddaughter.

Surely, Lorenzo would be pleased.

Once Myra was divorced from Edward, Lorenzo had no reason to refuse Britney entry into the Thomson family.

Thinking of this, Britney felt much better.

She walked over to Alondra, smiling. "Sorry, sweetie, I shouldn't have scolded you earlier. Can you forgive me?"

Children don't hold grudges, especially not their mothers.

The moment Britney said this, Alondra immediately stretched her arms, wanting to be picked up.

Britney lifted her into her arms, saying, "Soon, you will have a big house to live in..."

"Bigger than ours?" Alondra asked, eyes wide with curiosity.

"Yes! That will be huge! And on top of that, you'll have luxury cars to ride in and lots of pretty dresses to wear. How does that sound?"

 "Sounds amazing!" Alondra beamed.

"Don't speak too soon," Edward warned in a low voice. "You don't know my dad."

"You only know him from ten years ago," Britney replied. "How old is he now? When people get older, their hearts soften. As long as we beg him, I don't see how he could refuse to let Alondra be with her real mother."

Edward fell silent.

Honestly, even though it had been over a decade, Edward still felt a little nervous at the thought of seeing his father again.

After sending Alondra back, Adeline returned to the room and found Harrison sitting on the sofa, looking at his phone.

When he saw her come in, Harrison said, "I just got a message from Sam. He said he wanted to come to Yewhaina."

"To see Joyce?" Adeline asked.

Harrison smirked, saying, "He said he wanted to come to hang out with me, but he's probably just coming to see Miss Monroe."

"What a shame," Adeline sighed. "Joyce is leaving tomorrow."

"So soon?" Harrison seemed surprised.

"Yeah, Joyce has a lot of places she wants to visit. My mom said she'll send Joyce off tomorrow."

Harrison thought for a moment and then passed the news along to Sam.

Sam replied with a string of ellipses.

Then Sam added, "My dad just told me there's some work stuff at the company, so I won't be going to Yewhaina."

Harrison couldn't help but laugh at that.

What a lame excuse!

Adeline joined in the laughter.

"I used to think Sam was lively, but now I see he's such a dishonest guy," she joked.

"I've known him for years, and I never expected that either," Harrison said helplessly. "Back when I first realized I liked you, I used to ask him for advice on relationship matters. Now I think about it, I definitely went to the wrong person."

"Why did you need to ask anyone else for relationship advice? You should've come straight to me!" Adeline teased. "If you confessed earlier, none of this would've happened."

Harrison chuckled. "By your logic, if you had confessed earlier, none of this would have happened anyway."

"If I confessed earlier, that would've caused a big problem!"

Harrison reached out and pulled Adeline onto his lap.

"How big of a problem?"

"You would've fired me," Adeline said.

Harrison feigned innocence. "Am I really that cruel?"

"You are," Adeline said, with absolute certainty.

After all, Harrison had fired people because of loving affairs.

So, everyone knew that Harrison didn't tolerate any romantic feelings from his subordinates.

And Adeline, of course, was one of his subordinates.

Naturally, she couldn't let him know she had feelings for him.

"But I'm different with you," Harrison said.

He had once thought that if Adeline had confessed her feelings to him earlier, he would have fired her.

But then, he thought about it carefully.

Actually, for a long time now, Adeline had already been different to him.

He just hadn't realized it until now because all they had between them before was work, a professional attitude.

"You never showed it," Adeline said.

"I've thought about it these past few days. If you had told me you liked me earlier, I might not have agreed right away, but I definitely wouldn't have fired you," Harrison said.

"Really?" Adeline asked, half-doubting.

"Yeah." Harrison rubbed his chin against her shoulder. "Because, a long time ago, I just couldn't be without you. Even though I hadn't realized it then, if I had made the decision to fire you, I would've felt uneasy inside."

"And then?" Adeline asked, wrapping her arms around his neck. "What would you have done?"

Harrison lowered his head and kissed her lips before answering, "If you had tempted me, I would've ended up with you."

"Stop flattering yourself," Adeline laughed. "I tempt you? You were the one who tempted me."

"Then I'll think about how to tempt vou."

"Isn't that simple?"

Adeline whispered something in his ear.

Harrison chuckled twice. "Good idea. After all, I'm pretty skilled in this area."

Adeline laughed in his arms.

Once she had enough of laughing, she suddenly remembered something and said, "By the way, what do you think about Alondra? If you don't want to get close to her, I won't either."

To her, of course, Harrison was more important.

As she sent Alondra back to the room earlier, she suddenly realized that, though Alondra was cute, she was, after all, Harrison's stepsister.

If she kept showing how much she liked Alondra, it might upset Harrison.

"It's fine." Harrison played with her hair. "I know who the real troublemaker is."

As for Alondra, he still couldn't think of her as his sister.

But since Adeline liked her, he didn’t mind.
