Chapter 352: Stretch Those Muscles
Just as Adeline was about to say something, Joyce suddenly changed the subject.
"By the way, what's going on with you and Mr. Thomson?" she asked, a mischievous grin tugging at her lips. "Has there been a breakthrough in your relationship?"
"How did you know?" Adeline stammered, a little flustered.
"I don't know. I just feel like the atmosphere between you two is different from what it was before," Joyce replied with a sly wink.
Adeline's cheeks flushed. "Well... we... we're officially together now," she admitted, her voice softer than usual.
"I knew it!" Joyce exclaimed, slapping her thigh with excitement. "I told you ages ago that you two were perfect for each other! Back then, you insisted it was impossible, and now look at you. Wasn't I right?"
Adeline smiled, a little shy. "Yeah, you were right."
At one point, she had truly thought Harrison would never feel that way about her.
But Joyce had always insisted otherwise.
And now, she realized it was so much clearer.
Joyce, feeling satisfied with herself, went off to bed after a long day and a hearty dinner, leaving Adeline and Harrison alone.
The rest of the family scattered to do their own things.
Adeline and Harrison decided to take a walk outside.
They didn't go far, just a slow stroll around the Mendoza mansion.
As they walked, Adeline felt Harrison's hand in hers. It was cool, and she could tell he had a lot on his mind.
She didn't say anything and just stayed silent, keeping him company in the quiet.
After a while, Harrison stopped and looked up at the moon, which bathed the landscape in a soft, silver light.
"Adeline," he said, turning to face her.
"I'm here," she replied gently.
"I love you."
"Mm, I know. I love you too."
Before she could say anything more, Harrison pulled her into his arms, holding her tight.
He wanted to hold her with all his strength, but he was afraid of hurting her, so he eased his grip.
"Adeline," he murmured, "I won't let you go. If you decide to stay in Yewhaina, it's alright. I'll keep traveling back and forth, no matter how often."
No matter how far, no matter how difficult, it didn't matter.
The Thomson family was a responsibility he couldn't abandon. That was a given.
He would never give Adeline up.
Isaac had once said that it's hard to stay in a long-distance relationship. Over time, the
distance would create a sense of estrangement.
But now, Harrison was sure that wouldn't happen to them.
No matter how many years passed, he would travel back and forth, just to see her.
He would never grow tired of it.
Before coming to Yewhaina to find Adeline, he had already made up his mind.
He was going to be with her.
As long as she was willing, he would never let her go.
No matter the distance between them, he would cross any gap that came between them: Hearing his words, Adeline smiled softly.
"You're such a fool."
"Well, maybe I am," Harrison said with a grin, "but one thing's for sure-I can't lose you."
Adeline tightened her arms around him.
In truth, she had thought things through over the past few days.
Even without Harrison, she wanted to stay in Orienta.
She had lived there for more than twenty years.
Moving to Yewhaina would be difficult for her to adjust to.
But of course, she would never abandon her family there.
She would visit them often and stay for a while.
After all, the Mendoza family had their own private planes, and so did Harrison. She could fly back and forth without much trouble.
Besides, the Mendoza family's business was in good hands with Alberto. She didn't need to worry about it.
She was luckier than Harrison in some ways, with a reliable brother like Alberto.
Adeline had already talked it over with her family, and they supported her decision.
They even said they would visit her in Orienta and spend some time there when they could.
In truth, when Isaac made those remarks, it was iust to test Harrison-to see if he would back off.
But Harrison didn't.
He had said he was willing to travel between two countries, without demanding that she stay in Yewhaina.
He just wanted to know what he needed to do.
"I can't lose you either," Adeline whispered.
They stood there, silently holding each other, soaking in the warmth of the moment.
But just as the moment seemed perfect, the screech of tires broke the peaceful silence.
Both Harrison and Adeline turned their heads toward the sound.
A car had suddenly pulled up nearby, and a few young men got out. Each of them was holding a stick.
From their appearance, it was clear they weren't the type to be taken seriously.
Adeline raised an eyebrow, annoyed.
Even though they had walked to the back of the Mendoza, far from the main road, no one
Would dare come here looking for trouble.
The young men started waving their sticks and shouting curses in Yewhaina's local dialect.
Harrison, unfazed, replied, "Sorry, I don't understand."
The young men exchanged looks, shrugged, and then started walking toward him with their sticks raised.
"Stay here," Harrison said to Adeline, his voice calm. "I'm just going to stretch my legs and get a little workout in."
Adeline sized up the group of young men and thought, "Yeah, Harrison could definitely handle. them."
"Are you sure?" Adeline asked, still concerned.
"I'm worried you'll get hurt."
"Don't worry, I won't."
His confident tone was reassuring.
Adeline stepped to the side, knowing that fighting off a bunch of young men would be a bit much for her.
She wouldn't hold Harrison back.
But she did pick up two stones, just in case she needed to step in.
The young men, however, seemed to be targeting only Harrison.
They didn't even look at her as they swung their sticks at him.
Despite their weapons, Harrison wasn't worried in the slightest.
Within a few moments, he had knocked all of them to the ground.
Adeline, stone in hand, blinked in disbelief.
She hadn't even had a chance to throw them.
Harrison didn't let any of them get close, and by, the end of it, his clothes were only a little disheveled.
He straightened his shirt and gave one of the fallen men a swift kick.
"Who sent you?" he asked, his voice cold.
The young man, realizing they were outmatched, jumped up and ran. The others followed suit, quickly getting into their car and driving off at top speed.
Adeline walked over to Harrison with a deadpan expression.
"Looks like they were only after you," she said.
"Do you have any enemies in Yewhaina?"
"No," Harrison replied. "This is my first time here. How could I have enemies? Wait..."
He glanced at her and then added, "Well, I do have one enemy now-that guy from the Livingston family. He's been giving me the stink eye ever since I arrived."
Adeline sighed in exasperation.
"Seriously? This is not my fault. Even my mom said that the childhood betrothal was just a joke.
Who knew he would take it so seriously?"

It should be that guy from Livingston because he's the only person that doesn't like him
