Chapter 310: Change His Mind for Her
"Where has Joyce gone? Why hasn't she been home these past few days? Answer your phone!"
"I've looked everywhere for her and can't find her. Did you hide her away?"
"Please tell me where she is. I won't disturb her. Just seeing her from afar is enough for me."
"I found her flight details. She left a few days ago. Is she avoiding me?"
"I'm going to find her now. I won't let her leave my sight again."
Adeline was speechless.
She knew who he was.
It could only be Callan who would act crazy in the middle of the night-calling nonstop, sending all these texts, and insisting on finding Joyce.
Judging by his messages, he'd already found out which flight Joyce had taken.
Thankfully, Joyce had been smart enough not to stay where she landed.
Adeline took screenshots of Callan's texts and sent them to Joyce.
A while later, Joyce replied: "Ignore him. He's nuts. Adeline, I'm sorry you have to deal with this psycho."
"It's fine. I'll just block every number he uses. But are you sure he won't find you?"
"Don't worry. The transportation I'm using now doesn't require ID, and I won't stay in this town long. I'll keep moving around."
"Good. Let me know if anything happens."
"I will. Don't worry."
After finishing her chat with Joyce, Adeline blocked Callan's number and called the front desk to order breakfast.
Not long after, breakfast was delivered.
While eating, she gave Harrison a call.
By now, Harrison had already arrived at Castlewill Manor.
After a brief chat, Harrison said, "Oh, by the way, about Aprico Group-I'm willing to let them off this time."
Previously, no matter who interceded, he wouldn't relent-not even for the Mendoza family.
But things were different now.
Now that Adeline had reunited with the Mendoza family, they were no longer strangers to him.
They were his future in-laws.
He couldn't completely disregard their face.
Adeline was stunned for a moment before saying, "I already spoke with my family about this. I told them that you should do whatever you think is right."
She knew that Harrison always repaid his grievances.
She didn't want him to feel pressured on her account.
Besides, Aprico Group was clearly in the wrong.
Gracie had understood that as well.
After all, a distant relative couldn't compare to her own daughter.
Adeline hadn't expected Harrison to change his decision for her.
Harrison chuckled softly and said, "I can't be as ruthless as I used to be, refusing to give any leeway."
"But..." Adeline still hesitated.
She didn't want him to feel uneasy about it.
"Don't worry. I won't let Aprico Group get off scot-free," Harrison said. "I'll let them off, but only if they donate all the profits they gained from their theft to charity."
Adeline immediately understood his meaning.
Previously, Aprico Group had colluded with Kaylie to steal Thomson Group's new product and released it first, profiting greatly from it.
Harrison wanted them to donate all the ill-gotten gains to charity.
In fact, that was a good solution.
It forced Aprico Group to return the money it shouldn't have earned while contributing to charity.
"That works"" Adeline agreed.
After experiencing this crisis, Aprico Group would surely comply and donate the money honestly.
Moreover, while the product they released had been stolen, they had still invested significant costs.
Aprico Group would be paying the price for its mistakes.
"So don't worry about this anymore," Harrison said with a smile.
Just as Adeline was about to say something, someone on Harrison's end reminded him that his meeting was about to begin.
"You have a meeting? Let's stop here for now," Adeline said.
Harrison agreed but lowered his voice to add, "Without you here, I'm really not used to it."
Adeline's heart softened. She laughed and said, "Did you just now realize how amazing I am?"
"I've always known how amazing you are,"
Harrison replied. "Why else would I keep promoting you?"
"If you hadn't promoted me, that would've been your loss."
"True. You're absolutely right, Ade."
The way he said her name...
Sure, everyone called her "Ade," but when he said it, it was different-it stirred something deep inside her, like the faintest touch that lingered long after, impossible to ignore.
"Alright, go to your meeting," Adeline said.
"'II visit Alberto after breakfast and then head to the office this afternoon. I've been away long enough."
"Eleanor is going to terminate her contract with the company today. I'm worried you might run into her," Harrison said.
He didn't think Adeline would be afraid of Eleanor; he just didn't want her to feel irritated by the encounter.
Adeline understood his concern and
smiled. "Don't worry. If I do see her, she'll be the one feeling uncomfortable, not me."
Seeing that Adeline wasn't bothered, Harrison didn't say any more.
After breakfast, Adeline went to the hospital to see Alberto.
Alberto was in much better spirits. The doctor said that with a few more days of rest, he'd be ready to leave the hospital since his injuries weren't severe.
"Just in time for Christmas," Gracie said cheerfully. "Once Alberto is discharged, we can all go home to celebrate."
Although the Mendoza family had immigrated to Yewhaina decades ago, they still kept the tradition of celebrating Christmas.
Gracie had immigrated with her parents when she was around ten, and their family had always celebrated the holiday.
"Adeline, this year you must come home with us for Christmas," Gracie said, holding Adeline's hand.
Adeline nodded.
Even if Gracie hadn't mentioned it, she had already planned to do so.
This would be their first Christmas together as a reunited family. It was special.
Speaking of which, the Thomson Group's annual bonuses were about to be handed out.
She remembered how she had eagerly waited for her bonus to pay off debts.
But now, she was already a rich lady.
How times had changed. It felt like a different lifetime.
Although she had just eaten breakfast, Adeline joined her family for lunch before heading to the office.
At the hospital entrance, she unexpectedly ran into Russell's aunt-his stepmother, Jasmine.
Jasmine appeared to be there for a prenatal checkup. However, the person accompanying her wasn't Rogelio but a middle-aged woman who treated her with great respect-likely a servant.
Ever since Adeline learned about the Hunter family's situation, she had developed a poor impression on Jasmine.
But other people's family matters had nothing to do with her. She wasn't about to cause unnecessary trouble, so she decided to pretend not to see Jasmine and leave quickly.
However, Jasmine spotted her and called out, "Miss Hensley."
