Chapter 302: Forced by Others
A shrill scream tore through the room, almost deafening.
Eleanor backed away quickly, splashing water everywhere as she stared in horror at the strange man before her.
"Who are you?" she screamed frantically.
Since Benjamin's man had led her here, Eleanor had assumed the person in the pool was Harrison.
But this man wasn't him at all.
He was a stranger she'd never seen before.
His eyes were open, staring at her with an odd expression.
Eleanor suddenly remembered what she was wearing-a very revealing outfit.
She had intended to wear it for Harrison, not for a random stranger.
She clutched her chest and screamed again.
The man seemed to grow irritated by her noise and couldn't get aroused.
"Who are you!" Eleanor demanded in near hysteria.
The man remained silent.
Trembling, Eleanor moved to get out of the pool.
Just then, she heard footsteps approaching.
She looked up sharply.
And finally, she saw a familiar face.
It was Harrison.
But at that moment, seeing him brought her no joy.
The way Harrison looked at her was cold and filled with disgust, as if she was something dirty.
Eleanor wanted to call out to him, but her throat felt blocked, and she couldn't make a sound.
Another set of footsteps echoed, drawing her attention.
The man who had led her here was now being escorted over by two large men, his face pale and defeated.
Eleanor felt her mind go blank.
She realized everything had fallen apart.
Benjamin's so-called plan had clearly been uncovered by Harrison.
Their attempt to trap Harrison had failed, and now they were caught in his trap.
Meanwhile, the man in the pool grabbed her arm, pulling her out of the water.
"Let me go! Let me go!" Eleanor shrieked, struggling desperately.
The man showed no sympathy, dragging her out without hesitation.
Eleanor was close to losing her mind.
She snatched up her discarded robe and wrapped it around herself.
But even then, she still felt utterly humiliated.
She looked up at Harrison with tearful eyes.
"Harrison, we've known each other for so long. Do you really have to humiliate me like this?" Eleanor asked.
"Humiliate you?" Harrison looked at her icily.
"You and Benjamin plotted against me, and you have the audacity to claim I'm the one humiliating you?"
If he hadn't anticipated someone's scheming and prepared accordingly, he would have been at Eleanor's mercy right now.
And if that had happened, he would have been left defenseless.
He'd already been caught in a similar trap once.
He wasn't about to let it happen again, especially after he and Adeline had confessed their feelings to each other.
If he'd really gotten involved with another woman, it would have been the ultimate betrayal to Adeline.
Eleanor laughed, verging on madness.”I only did this because I love you! What's wrong with loving someone? Why should my sincerity be trampled on like this?"
"Excuse me?" Harrison raised an eyebrow.
He genuinely wondered if there was something wrong with Eleanor.
She was the one trying to trap him, and now, just because she failed, she wanted to play the victim.
"You're only doing this to satisfy your selfish desires," he replied coldly. "Stop trying to dress it up as something noble."
Eleanor felt a mix of anger, humiliation, and frustration.
She'd been so certain her plan would succeed.
But now, it had completely backfired.
No, she had to stay calm. She couldn't ruin things with Harrison entirely.
Otherwise, she'd lose any chance with him for good.
She took a shaky breath, adopting a pitiful look as she lowered her head and whispered, "Harrison, I was wrong today. But it wasn't my choice. I was forced into this. I never wanted to hurt you, but I didn't have a choice!"
"So, it was Benjamin who forced you?" Harrison asked.
"Yes!" Eleanor replied quickly.
As soon as she spoke, the man behind her let out a loud cough.
Only then did she realize her mistake.
Harrison hadn't confirmed that Benjamin was the mastermind yet.
But now, she'd fallen right into Harrison's trap and admitted it.
Eleanor regretted it instantly.
If Benjamin found out, there was no telling how he'd retaliate.
Now, she was caught in a lose-lose situation.
Still, she'd already implicated Benjamin. She had to clear her name in front of Harrison as best as she could.
"Harrison, you know Benjamin is the eldest son of the Tillman family. How could I stand up to him? He's obsessed with Adeline, so he wanted me to seduce you. I didn't dare defy him!"
Harrison wasn't buying it for a second.
When Eleanor first returned to the country, he didn't know what kind of person she was.
But now, he knew her true nature. She was cunning and deceitful.
This scheme was clearly orchestrated by Benjamin, but Eleanor had been all too eager to go along with it.
There was no way she'd been forced into it.
"Harrison, I truly care about you, but all you can see is Adeline." Eleanor sobbed. "What does she have that I don't? And now, with Benjamin fixated on her, she'll only bring trouble to you!"
"The only ones bringing trouble are you and Benjamin, not her.”
Just then, another one of Harrison's men hurried over.
He was holding Harrison's phone.
"Mr. Thomson, you left your phone on the table earlier," the man said. "I didn't answer when someone called, so I hurried over to return it."
As soon as he heard this, Harrison grabbed his phone.
He saw two missed calls from Adeline.
He felt a pang of regret.
He was usually careful, rarely leaving his phone behind. But this one time, he had forgotten and missed Adeline's calls.
He quickly called her back.
Adeline picked up almost immediately.
Hearing her say she'd been worried sick, wondering why he hadn't answered, Harrison gently reassured her, explaining that he had simply forgotten his phone.
"Why were you so anxious?" he asked. "Did someone say something to you?"
"Yes, Benjamin came to the hospital and said some strange things, so I got worried." -
Benjamin, who was still standing in front of Adeline, felt a flash of irritation.
She was telling Harrison all this right in front of him.
