Chapter 308: He Finally Made It
"Will it be too late if I return to Mugroaton now?" Eleanor thought.
Eleanor's resolve wavered slightly, but then the faces of Harrison and Adeline flashed before her eyes.
Unwillingness and hatred surged up once more.
"How could I leave like this? If I leave, it means I admit I have lost to Adeline," Eleanor thought.
She refused to accept that.
She hated Adeline, and she hated Harrison.
She would stay here and fight them to the bitter end.
Then, she saw Harrison and Adeline walk out of the room together.
She continued to sneak behind them.
She didn't even know what she was doing anymore.
At that moment, she was like a madwoman.
She watched as the two got into a car and left the estate.
Eleanor thought, "Where can they be going at such a late hour?" Eleanor thought bitterly, "Harrison really dotes on Adeline, doesn't he? It's so late, yet he's still accompanying her wherever she wants to go."
At this point, Eleanor no longer wanted to be with Harrison.
She only wanted to tear him and Adeline apart.
As long as they weren't together, she would feel a sense of satisfaction.
"Just wait," she thought. "I'll find a way to set you apart. | definitely will..."
At the hospital, Alberto, now awake, was half-lying on his hospital bed.
Gracie sat beside him, clutching his hand tightly, unwilling to let go.
Isaac stood to the side, a pleased smile on his face.
"Mom, Dad, when will Adeline get here?"
Alberto asked eagerly.
His voice was still hoarse, but it carried undeniable excitement.
Gracie smiled. "She's already on her way. Don't worry. It's late, and they shouldn't drive too fast."
Alberto took a deep breath and said, "You're right. If I hadn't gotten into that accident that day, maybe..."
Maybe he would have known much earlier that Adeline was his sister.
That day, he had been on his way to the hospital to ask Adeline if she would agree to take a DNA test.
But then, the accident happened.
Over the past few days, he hadn't been completely unconscious.
At times, in a hazy state, he could faintly hear the voices of his family.
Alberto realized that his parents were there and that they had found his sister.
He heard their voices and heard Adeline talk about her past.
It broke his heart.
He hadn't imagined his sister had lived such a difficult life.
Alberto thought to himself that, moving forward, he would make up for all the love Adeline had missed in the past twenty years.
He would make her the happiest little princess in the world.
The more he thought about it, the more desperately he wanted to wake up.
And tonight, Alberto finally succeeded.
After waking up, Alberto's biggest fear was that everything he'd heard had been a dream.
Fortunately, his parents confirmed it was real. His sister had been found.
And it was Adeline.
Alberto was overjoyed.
Hearing him mention the accident, Gracie couldn't help but tear up again.
Isaac gently reassured her, "It's over now. Alberto is awake, and that's what matters. We should be happy."
Gracie wiped her eyes and smiled. "Of course I'm happy."
Their long-lost daughter had returned, and now their son had woken up.
Their family of four was finally reunited.
She couldn't be happier.
"Once you're fully recovered, we'll all go home together," Gracie said excitedly.
Isaac nodded in agreement.
But Alberto hesitated, as if something was on his mind.
"Mom, Dad, should we really just take Adeline home like this?" he asked. "She's lived here for over twenty years. The people she cares about are all here."
Of course, Alberto wanted to take his sister home and make it up to her.
But he also thought they needed to consider
Adeline's feelings.
It would be difficult to ask people to suddenly leave the place they'd lived their entire life, to leave behind everyone they knew, and to move to a foreign country.
Yewhaina was far from here. Even with modern transportation, frequent back-and-forth trips would be exhausting over time.
Besides, Alberto could tell that Harrison and Adeline weren't just ordinary colleagues.
He still remembered the day Benjamin tricked Adeline into meeting him and how Harrison had come to her rescue, emanating a murderous aura.
If Adeline hadn't been unconscious and Harrison hadn't been in such a hurry to get her to the hospital, no one knew what might have happened.
Hearing this, Gracie hesitated as well.
"Let's talk it over with Adeline when she gets here," she said. "But no matter what, she must come home with us at least once."
"Agreed," Alberto said with a nod.
Not long after, Adeline pushed open the door to the hospital room.
Harrison was right behind her.
When she saw Alberto awake, Adeline's eyes grew misty.
Alberto looked at her, his own eyes reddening.
"Adeline, come here," Gracie called out with a smile.
Isaac gestured for Harrison to take a seat.
Adeline walked to the bedside and sat down in the chair beside Gracie.
"How are you feeling? Are you in any pain?" Adeline asked softly.
Alberto smiled and shook his head.
The doctors had examined him earlier.
Although his external injuries hadn't completely healed, they would recover in time with proper care.
The doctors had also said he wouldn't fall into another coma and could leave the hospital once he was better.
"When I called you that day, I never imagined
you are actually my sister," Alberto said.
"When I ran into you in the elevator, I never thought you are my brother either," Adeline said with a small smile.
"Exactly." Alberto grinned. "It's my fault. I should've figured it out earlier. We look so alike."
"It doesn't matter," Gracie said. "What matters is that we're all together now."
Alberto nodded in agreement.
He chatted with Adeline for a while longer before remembering that Harrison was there with her.
He couldn't help it. After reuniting with his long-lost sister, Alberto had been too overwhelmed to think of anything else, and Harrison had been momentarily overlooked.
"Mr. Thomson, you're here too," Alberto said, greeting him.
Harrison nodded politely in response.
For some reason, Alberto now felt differently about Harrison.
Before, he had admired and respected Harrison.
After all, Harrison was a recognized genius in the business world.
Even back in Yewhaina, Alberto often heard about Harrison's accomplishments.
This time, his visit had been related to Aprico Group, and he hoped to ask Harrison to show leniency toward a distant relative.
But now, he couldn't help but look at Harrison through a different lens.
Maybe this is just how brothers look at the men dating their sisters-worrying they're not good enough and fearing they won't treat their sisters well.
But then, after thinking it over, Alberto decided that Harrison probably wasn't that kind of man.
