Chapter 328:Have Some Coke
"Go, go, go," Sam said irritably. "Go find Miss Hensley."
Harrison didn't respond, nor did he leave.
After a moment, he asked, "But does she have a place for Russell in her heart?"
"Huh?" Sam caught on quickly.
It seemed Harrison and Adeline had indeed argued, and it appeared to be because of Russell.
Though annoyed with Harrison, Sam was still his good friend and decided to console him.
"You're overthinking this," Sam said. "You've been with Miss Hensley for five years. It's obvious she likes you. Why would Russell matter to her?"
Harrison shook his head. "I'm not so sure."
If it had been anyone else, it wouldn't have bothered Harrison.
But Russell had a past so similar to Adeline's.
"So, what exactly happened?" Sam asked.
"Tell me, and I'll help you figure it out."
Harrison was new to relationships, so it wasn't surprising that he'd be unsure of what to do.
If Sam had known what had happened, he might have been able to give some advice.
Harrison's lips moved as if he was about to speak.
He had wanted to tell Sam, but the thought of the recent events only made him more irritable.
"Forget it, I don't want to talk about it," Harrison said. "Do you have any alcohol?"
"I do," Sam replied, "but would it be polite for you to drink in front of a patient who's not fully recovered?"
Harrison thought about it and said, "Fine, I won't drink."
"I knew you cared about me," Sam said, touched.
"Good buddy."
"It's not that," Harrison said. "I promised her I'd drink less."
The warm feeling in Sam's chest vanished instantly.
Sam thought, "So, it's all for Miss Hensley, not me."
"Have some Coke," Harrison said.
Sam gave him a puzzled look.
Since falling in love, Harrison had seemed like a completely different person. He never would have touched Coke before.
Sam had a large fridge stocked with all kinds of drinks and alcohol in his bedroom.
Harrison grabbed a can of Coke, opened it, and took several large gulps.
Sam had expected him to say something.
But Harrison drank in silence.
Sam decided not to interrupt and let him drink in peace.
After finishing the can, Harrison felt a little calmer.
He took out his phone and checked it.
There were no calls or messages from Adeline.
Harrison's eyes flickered, and a pang of hurt hit his chest.
He thought, "She has been angry at me earlier. Couldn't she reach out to comfort him now?"
Then he remembered that he had hung up on her call when he was still upset earlier.
At the time, he'd been too furious to think straight and had ended the call.
Now he regretted it.
She'd probably wanted to explain or comfort him, but he hadn't given her the chance.
Harrison thought, "Is she mad at me now?"
The thought made Harrison restless.
Watching him sigh, frown, and shift nervously, Sam finally said, "Why don't you just call Miss Hensley?"
Harrison stared at his phone's dark screen, saying nothing.
Adeline didn't go home or to a hotel. Instead, she returned to Alberto's ward.
Gracie, after hearing what had happened, was furious.
"This is too much!" Gracie exclaimed. "Do they think the Mendoza family is easy to mess with? I'm going to find Mrs. Hunt and give her a piece of my mind!"
Adeline quickly stopped her.
"Mom, calm down," Alberto said, exasperated.
"Yes, Mom," Adeline added. "She just had a miscarriage. It wouldn't look good for you to confront her now."
Adeline had already been caught up in the situation.
If Gracie caused a scene, Jasmine might twist it to her advantage.
Adeline realized that her initial distrust of Jasmine had been justified.
That woman was cunning enough to frame her own nephew.
Earlier, with Russell's permission, Adeline had sent the video of Manuel's confession to Rogelio.
It was clear evidence of their innocence.
Adeline didn't know whether Rogelio chose to believe it or not, but she had done her part.
Deep down, Russell still hoped Rogelio would believe him after seeing the video.
"So, we're just going to let her bully my daughter?" Gracie asked indignantly.
She shot Isaac a pointed look.
"Don't worry," Isaac said quickly. "This isn't over."
Jasmine thought her plan had succeeded and everything was over.
But she was dreaming.
When she saw Isaac's determined expression, Gracie's anger eased slightly.
She turned to Adeline, who seemed lost in thought, and asked, "Where's Mr. Thomson?"
From what she had observed, Harrison should have been by Adeline's side after what happened.
Yet he was nowhere to be seen, and Adeline looked distressed.
So Gracie thought they must have a fight.
"It's nothing," Adeline said evasively.
Gracie didn't press further.
Adeline glanced at her phone.
Harrison hadn't called or messaged her either.
"Is he still upset?" Adeline thought.
Rogelio was feeding Jasmine soup when he received Adeline's video.
Jasmine had only drunk half a bowl before saying she couldn't have more.
"Just a little more," Rogelio coaxed. "You need the nutrients."
Jasmine shook her head. "I'm too upset to eat."
Rogelio sighed, his heart aching for her.
Just then, his phone chimed.
He set the bowl down and picked up his phone.
"Who sent me a video?" he muttered, opening the file.
When Manuel's face appeared on the screen, Rogelio frowned.
"Isn't this Manuel?"
"What?" Jasmine's body stiffened.
Then she heard Manuel's voice in the video.
"It was Jasmine... She instructed me. She made me lure Miss Hensley out... She wanted to frame Russell for causing her miscarriage." Manuel had spilled everything.
Jasmine clenched her teeth.
That useless man had completely betrayed her.
Fortunately, she had anticipated this possibility and prepared herself mentally.
When the video ended, Rogelio looked at Jasmine, shocked. "Jasmine, what is this?"
"I don't know," Jasmine stammered, feigning panic. "I don't know why Manuel would say such things. He's slandering me!"
