Chapter 282: He Lost Everything

However, Conrad's desperate pleading did nothing to soften Harrison's heart.

"Let's go," Harrison said to Adeline.

The sight of Conrad disgusted him now.

Dealing with Conrad himself would feel like dirtying his own hands.

Besides, he knew that Conrad was terrified of his wife.

Most importantly, Conrad had married into his wife's family.

Everything he had now was thanks to his wife.

Although he was technically the chairman of the company, his wife could strip him of his authority anytime she wanted.

Plus, his wife was not someone who would tolerate betrayal.

If she found out that Conrad had dared to do something like this, she would never let him off easily.

For Conrad, this was the cruelest punishment imaginable.

As they left the private room and headed downstairs, they happened to run into Eleanor.

Eleanor had just seen off the director.

When she saw the two of them, she greeted them with a perfectly normal expression.

"Harrison, Miss Hensley," Eleanor said with a smile. "I heard you were having a business dinner with Mr. Stein tonight. By the way, where is Mr. Stein?"

She looked as if she didn't know what had happened.

But then again, she was always a good actress.

So Harrison and Adeline weren't about to let go of their suspicions so easily.

"Mr. Stein hasn't come down yet," Adeline replied with a smile. "Were you hoping to see him, Miss Fraser?"

"I was just making conversation," Eleanor said.

Inwardly, Eleanor was seething with anger.

She had no idea how Conrad could be such a

failure.

She had even arranged to have Harrison lured away.

And still, he couldn't manage it.

Eleanor was also well aware that Harrison and Adeline suspected her.

But they had no proof.

After all, even those waiters couldn't say who had paid them.

Suspicion alone wasn't enough. They couldn't do anything without evidence.

At that moment, Adeline's gaze suddenly fell on Eleanor's assistant, Halle.

Halle, not expecting to be noticed, flinched in fear. Already feeling guilty, she quickly looked away from Adeline's eyes, hiding behind Eleanor.

Eleanor noticed this too and mentally cursed

Halle as a coward for being so easily intimidated.

Worried that Adeline might pick up on something, Eleanor quickly said, "I have something to take care of, so I'll be on my way."

Just as Eleanor was about to leave, Harrison called out to her. "Miss Fraser."

Hearing him address her so formally made

Eleanor's eyes sting with tears.

She had once wished so dearly to hear him say her name gently every day.

But in the end, she realized it had all been wishful thinking.

She had lied to herself so much that even she believed it was real.

After returning, she finally understood just how harsh the truth was.

Holding back her tears, Eleanor turned around with a smile and asked, "Harrison, is there something else?"

"Don't let me find out it was your doing,"

Harrison said coldly. "If I do, I'll make sure you suffer. And don't think that the Tillman family will be able to protect you."

Eleanor's smile instantly froze.

Though she was used to his ruthlessness, it still hurt each time.

"Harrison, I don't understand what you're talking about," Eleanor said, brushing a strand of hair aside. "I spent the evening dining with the director and did nothing wrong."

Harrison ignored her and said quietly to Adeline, "Let's go."

"Alright." Adeline cast another look at Halle behind Eleanor.

Then she followed Harrison out.

Eleanor watched them leave, anger bubbling up inside her.

She turned to slap Halle, but realizing they were in the restaurant lobby and surrounded by waitstaff, she restrained herself for the sake of her public image.

So she settled for glaring at Halle instead.

Halle didn't think she had done anything wrong, but she didn't dare argue.

She was used to Eleanor taking out her frustrations on her whenever things didn't go her way.

Once outside the restaurant, Adeline asked, "Is Rowen still investigating inside?"

"Yes," Harrison said.

"I'll ask him to send me a copy of the security footage."

Saying that, Adeline called Rowen.

By the time they got into the car, Rowen had sent her the surveillance footage.

Of course, he had only sent the crucial clips.

Adeline opened the footage and saw the woman who had paid off the waiters.

The woman wore sunglasses and a mask, hiding her face entirely. She was also bundled in a thick coat, making her figure hard to discern.

But Adeline noticed one thing.

"Look, doesn't this woman's height match that of Eleanor's assistant?" Adeline asked Harrison.

Harrison nodded. "It does. Are you thinking this woman could be Halle?"

"Yes," Adeline replied. "Check her contact information. I'd like to speak with her."

"Alright." Harrison checked the time. It wasn't too late yet.

"You barely ate, didn't you?" Harrison said.

"Let's go grab something else to eat."

Adeline never ate much at business dinners.

After all, she had to focus on the discussions.

In the past, she would grab something on her own after such dinners.

Adeline sighed. "That creep Conrad ruined my appetite. Do you think his wife will give him a hard time?"

"Don't worry," Harrison chuckled. "His ending will be miserable."

The three waiters who had been bribed were fired by the restaurant owner.

After all, if they could be bought so easily, no one knew what they might do to harm customers in the future.

Adeline kept her word and didn't press charges against the waiters who had slandered her.

But with the news of their firing, no other place would dare hire them.

For them, this was already a harsh punishment.

As for Conrad, he made headlines that very night.

When his wife found out what happened, she flew into a rage, stripped him down, and made him bark like a dog in the street.

Conrad didn't dare disobey her.

So he did as she ordered.

Many people took photos of the spectacle.

Besides, his wife also reclaimed control of the company from him and contacted a lawyer to start divorce proceedings.

This wasn't the first time Conrad had done

something similar. Last time, when his wife found out he cheated on her, he had broken down, crying and begging for forgiveness, and she had softened and let it go.

But this time, there would be no forgiveness.

Everything he had was thanks to his wife, and now that they were divorcing, she would make sure he left with nothing. She wouldn't let him have custody of their children, either.

So, Conrad lost everything.
