Chapter 312: Kick Her When She's Down
Although the argument between them didn't make it into the final cut of the show, clips of it still spread.
At the time, Chelsea didn't have many fans, while Eleanor, having been in the industry for years, had a huge following. Her fans viciously tore into Chelsea.
Eleanor even paid for press releases, twisting the reason for their argument to make it look like Chelsea's fault.
Normally, that show would have brought Chelsea a lot of new fans.
Instead, the incident ended up attracting more hate than support.
Thankfully, Chelsea was resilient. She endured it all, and with strong performances in several hit , dramas, she successfully turned things around.
And now, she had even replaced Eleanor as the new face of the Thomson Group.
Eleanor felt utterly humiliated.
At that moment, Chelsea spotted Eleanor.
"Well, well, isn't this Eleanor?" she said sarcastically, without missing a beat. "Here to sign the termination contract, I assume?"
Eleanor was burned with humiliation, but she wouldn't let it show on her face.
"Chelsea, long time no see," Eleanor said coolly, forcing a smile. "Of course, I'm here to sign the termination contract. If I didn't give up this endorsement, how would you ever have had a chance?"
Chelsea laughed. "Wow, Eleanor, your stubbornness really is something. Don't kid yourself. You were forced out by the Thomson Group. I don't know what you did, but they clearly can't stand you anymore. It's hilarious."
Eleanor's expression darkened.
"Chelsea, don't go too far. You should know to leave a way out for yourself."
"Oh? Sorry, I don't understand that. Why don't you teach me?"
Chelsea made a show of cupping her hand to her ear as if listening intently. Then she added, "Oh, wait. I forgot. You don't understand that concept either. Otherwise, you wouldn't have treated me the way you did two years ago. Eleanor, did you ever think you'd end up like this when you bullied me back then?"
"What? Do you think landing this endorsement makes you better than me?" Eleanor said.
"I don't care about being 'better' or not," Chelsea said with a smug smile. "All I know is I'm happy right now, and you're nothing but a pathetic woman. That's enough for me."
"You..." Eleanor seethed with anger, but before she could retort, the Thomson Group's representative arrived. They handed Chelsea an endorsement contract and Eleanor a termination agreement.
Eleanor's face burned with shame.
Chelsea quickly signed her contract and then leisurely looked at Eleanor.
"Miss Fraser, please sign this," she said with mock politeness. "No matter how long you stall, you can't avoid this."
Eleanor felt utterly humiliated. Without even looking at the terms, she signed the contract as quickly as possible.
After all, there was no way she would get any compensation from the Thomson Group.
The representative took the contracts and smiled politely at Chelsea. "Miss Duncan, here's to a . successful partnership."
"Of course," Chelsea replied with a smile. "Rest assured. I won't go around causing trouble like certain people."
Her sarcasm was blatant, and the representative clearly noticed but said nothing to defend Eleanor, simply smiling faintly.
Eleanor couldn't take it anymore. She turned to leave, but the representative called out again.
"Oh, Miss Fraser, Mr. Thomson asked me to relay a message: going forward, please refrain from appearing in or near the Thomson Group premises."
Chelsea couldn't hold back her laughter, and even Halle, standing behind Eleanor, smiled.
Halle quickly lowered her head to hide it, not
daring to laugh out loud. Fortunately, Eleanor didn't see her.
Trembling with rage, Eleanor said nothing more and stormed out.
Before she could even leave the Thomson Group, she ran into Isaline.
•By now, news of Eleanor's termination had spread throughout the company, and Isaline naturally knew about it.
She didn't say a word, but the smirk on her face was enough to send Eleanor over the edge.
Halle watched from behind, thinking, "Well, that's what you get. Eleanor has always been arrogant and nasty, bullying people left and right. Now that she's down, of course everyone wants to kick her while she's there."
Adeline spent the entire afternoon buried in work.
By the time she lifted her head from the files, the sun had already set.
Most of her colleagues in the executive office were packing up to leave for the day.
"Miss Hensley, are you leaving now?"
Anna asked as she finished tidying her desk.
"I'll stay a little longer. You go ahead."
"Alright, then. My boyfriend's here to pick me up!" Anna said with a grin.
Adéline smiled. "You have a boyfriend? Good to hear!"
Not long ago, Anna had been complaining about her single status, so this was quite a surprise.
"We met about two weeks ago. We clicked instantly, and we made it official a few days ago," Anna said shyly.
Adeline said, "That's great! Now hurry up. You , don't want to keep him waiting."
"Okay, see you tomorrow. Bye-bye!"
After Anna left, Adeline picked up her phone.
After some thought, she called Ronan.
Ronan answered quickly, his voice full of surprise and excitement. "Miss Hensley!"
"Mr. Ronan, how's your recovery going?" Adeline asked with concern.
"Much better now. I can get around without any issues," Ronan replied.
"That's good to hear. By the way, my colleague mentioned that you came to the office today to see me. Was there something you needed?"
"It wasn't anything important," Ronan said with a hint of disappointment. "I just wanted to see how you were doing, but you weren't there."
"I've been tied up with a few things these past few days. I only came back to the office this afternoon," Adeline explained
"I see," Ronan said.
After a brief pause, he hesitantly asked, "Miss Hensley, are you... still upset about what happened last time?"
"I'm not upset," Adeline replied.
She'd encountered so many people who had tried to harm her. If she got angry at every single one of them. she'd have driven herself crazy by now.
Hearing her calm tone, Ronan let out a quiet sigh.
Adeline might not be angry, but she would never forgive Milania.
Ronan no longer dared hope for her forgiveness.
He just wanted to do what he could to make amends.
"Miss Hensley, if you have time, would you join me for a meal?" Ronan asked carefully.
As if anticipating her refusal, he quickly added, "You can bring Harrison along."
His tone was so cautious that Adeline couldn't bring herself to flat-out reject him.
"I'll talk to Mr. Thomson and get back to you."
"Alright, thank you."
After hanging up, Adeline thought of Ronan's smile and felt conflicted.
Ronan was a good kid. It was just a shame that he had a mother who caused so much harm.
