Chapter 294: The DNA Test Results

After some hesitation, Ashton said, "Ronan's doing well right now, and it's getting late.

Perhaps you should head to the office instead and visit him. another time."

Harrison's expression remained calm..

He could read between the lines.

Ashton simply didn't want him to see Milania.

Harrison figured that Milania was likely with Ronan now.

Ashton was worried that if they met, Harrison and Milania would clash again.

Honestly, Harrison had no desire to argue with Milania. He could easily ignore her when visiting Ronan.

But seeing Ashton's tense expression, Harrison decided not to unsettle him further.

"Alright," Harrison said evenly, "I'll be going then."

Ashton exhaled subtly, relieved.

"Take care, Harrison."

After Harrison left, Ashton returned to the

house.

Ronan and Milania were still seated at the dining table.

"Weren't you out for a walk? Why are you back so soon?" Milania asked.

"Nothing," Ashton replied calmly. "It was too cold, so I came back."

"I can't believe I forgot. You should've taken a warmer coat," Milania said, lightly tapping her forehead.

Ashton gazed at her intently.

Over the years, she had always been gentle, caring, and attentive toward him.

And he had never doubted her.

It was, in retrospect, tragic.

Even more tragically, though he now knew she wasn't as warm and kind as he'd thought, he still couldn't let her go.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Milania smiled mildly. "Don't forget the child is here. We're an old married couple. Don't embarrass yourself."

Ronan, eating breakfast, nearly choked.

Honestly, he sometimes admired Milania's nerve.

Even in a tense atmosphere, she could still keep her composure and say things like that, as if nothing had happened and they were still the happy family they once were.

But he couldn't pretend that nothing had happened.

Unable to eat anymore, Ronan put down his knife and fork, stood up, and grabbed his cane, ready to leave.

"Ronan, why are you eating so little? Have some more," Milania said

"No, I don't want any," Ronan said and hobbled away on his cane.

Watching him go, Milania sighed and murmured to Ashton, "Look at him, still holding a grudge against me. I'm his mother. 

Does he value Miss Hensley over me?"

"It's not about valuing one person over another.

It's about the mistakes you made," Ashton said.

"Don't you understand that by now?"

Milania paused, lowered her eyes, and replied, "Of course I understand. That's why I've been trying to make amends. Harrison has confined me to the family and restricted my communication with the outside world. 

I've abided by all his rules. What more can I do? I'm truly remorseful. You're my husband, and we ve been together for so long. How can you doubt me too?"

She began to cry, dabbing at her tears.

Seeing the woman he'd loved for so many years looking so vulnerable, Ashton softened his attitude.

He sat beside her, pulling her into his arms.

"Alright, don't cry: It's fine if you're genuinely remorseful. After some time, we'll apologize to Harrison and Miss Hensley. Everything will be fine."

"Yes, I know,". Milania said submissively, resting in his embrace.

But a flash of hatred gleamed in her eyes.

Milania thought, "Apologize to Harrison and Adeline? No way!"

What she wanted was to ruin them.and seize control of the Thomson family.

Ashton was just a pawn. Once she succeeded, Milania would discard him without a second thought.

With Marshall's support, she intended to make full use of it.

Adeline arrived at the hospital, bringing breakfast with her.

Gracie and Isaac had been staying by Alberto's side, despite the presence of a nurse. They worried they might miss any sign of him waking up.

There was an extra bed in Alberto's room, where they took turns resting at night.

When Adeline arrived, both of.them were already awake.

They were delighted to see her but soon looked concerned.

"Why are you here so early?" Gracie took her hand. "You should've rested longer."

"It's fine. I slept well last night. Getting up early wasn't a problem," Adeline replied. "I brought you breakfast."

"What about you?" Gracie asked.

"I already ate at the hotel," Adeline said.

"Where's Mr. Thomson? Why didn't he come with you?" Isaac asked.

Adeline explained, "He went back to the

Thomson family."

Gracie smiled, saying, "He probably didn't want to intrude on our family time. So thoughtful of him.",

Isaac nodded slightly, saying no more.

After breakfast, Isaac checked the time and said, "The paternity test results should be ready soon."

"So soon?" Adeline felt her heart leap.

But given the Mendoza family's resources, an expedited test was certainly possible.

The test results from Mateo had also come back quickly.

Truthfully, Adeline was suddenly nervous.

She was afraid they had all misunderstood, afraid that this was just a dream, and afraid that it would end in disappointment.

As she felt her heart race, a warm hand reached over and held hers.

She looked up to see Gracie.

"Let's go see the results together," Gracie said with a smile. "Then we can come back and share the good news with your brother."

Her smile calmed Adeline's nerves.

Adeline nodded.

Soon, they received the paternity test results.

The results showed a 99.999% DNA match between Isaac and Adeline, indicating a biological relationship.

Although they had already been certain Adeline was their daughter, seeing the results brought them to tears.

This was the undeniable proof.

"My daughter... You're my daughter..." Gracie cried as she embraced Adeline. "After all these years, we've finally found you! It's all our fault. We couldn't protect you and let you suffer all these years..."

Isaac joined their embrace, tears streaming down as well.
