One night stand with my president(chapter 278)

Chapter 278: You Aren't a Substitute

Adeline continued scrolling through the file.

It turned out that the girl's name was Whitney Sherman. She had immigrated to Mugroaton with her parents when she was young and had grown up with Benjamin.

Eight years ago, they officially became a couple and had a strong relationship.

However, three years ago, Whitney died in an accident.

"What kind of accident was it? The file doesn't say," Adeline asked.

Harrison shook his head and said, "We haven't found out yet."

Adeline sighed and looked at Whitney's photo, feeling a bit uncomfortable.

It was truly tragic that such a young life was cut short.

And Whitney did look a lot like Adeline.

She couldn't help but wonder if they were twins.

However, the file showed that Whitney

was two years older than her.

And Whitney's background seemed clear and straightforward.

So, their resemblance was likely just a coincidence.

After all, it was not rare that two unrelated people looked alike.

"If she was still alive, she and Benjamin might have been very happy together. It's such a pity," Adeline sighed. "But Benjamin is absurd. I'd think he didn't love Miss Sherman, yet he still pines for her; but if he loved her, why would he look for someone to replace her?"

No matter how much she looked like Whitney, Adeline was still not Whitney.

Benjamin could hold onto Whitney's memory or start a new relationship, but instead, he chose to find a stand-in...

In reality, after losing a loved one for many years, it was natural for Benjamin to feel unsettled or act irrationally upon seeing Adeline who looked so similar to Whitney.

Now, Adeline just hoped that Benjamin would soon come to his senses and realize that she was Adeline, not Whitney.

"I won't let you be anyone's substitute,”Harrison said. "You are who you are.”

"Of course," Adeline replied with a bright smile.

Watching her smile, Harrison felt his heart race.

Harrison thought, "So this is what it feels like to love someone."

"Don't forget we have dinner tonight," Adeline reminded him, glancing at the time.

"We should leave in about two hours."

"Alright."

Eleanor kept a stern face the entire time she talked with Braydon.

This put Braydon in a sour mood as well.

However, having reached the position of manager, Braydon wasn't just anyone, so he kept his composure and discussed all the

collaboration details with Eleanor.

As Eleanor was leaving, she gave Halle a meaningful look.

Halle immediately turned to Braydon and said, "We'd appreciate it if what happened today stayed between us. I'm sure you understand."

"Of course," Braydon said.

"And as for Isaline..."

"I'll talk to her and make sure she doesn't spread this around."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

Finally having sent Eleanor off, Braydon let out a long sigh of relief.

He didn't even bother to follow up with Isaline.

, After all, Eleanor had indeed caused the trouble herself. She shouldn't worry about someone gossiping about it.

Eleanor left the Thomson Group and got into her car, still looking annoyed.

Halle didn't dare to say anything to console her.

Just as the driver was about to start the car, Eleanor suddenly asked, "Is the dinner with the director tonight?"

Halle quickly replied, "Yes, you arranged to have dinner with the director tonight."

"What time is it now?"

"It's already past five."

"We might as well go straight to the restaurant."

"Alright."

The driver started the car and headed to the restaurant.

As the car stopped at the restaurant entrance, Eleanor got out. As soon as she stepped inside, she heard someone call her name. "Isn't that Miss , Fraser?"

Eleanor frowned slightly.

She was wearing a hat, a mask, and sunglasses, but someone still recognized her.

If it was a fan, she would have to waste time humoring them.

As she grew irritated, the person who called her name had already walked up to her.

"Miss Fraser, is that you? I'm Conrad Stein from the Grizzly Group!"

It turned out to be the chairman of the Grizzly Group.

Eleanor took off her sunglasses and mask, smiling as she said, "Oh, it's Mr. Stein."

Conrad squinted at her, his gaze filled with lust as he said, "Miss Fraser, you're truly a star. You're even more beautiful than on TV!"

Eleanor immediately recognized him as a sleazy man.

She smiled politely and said, "Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Stein.,Are you here for dinner as well?"

"Yes, I have a meeting with Mr. Thomson. By the way, aren't you with Mr. Thomson as well? Why don't you join us?"

"Mr. Thomson?" Eleanor was startled. "He's coming here tonight?"

"Yes, we have some business to discuss."

Eleanor suddenly realized that if Harrison was coming, Adeline would probably be with him, as she was his chief secretary.

In a setting like this, it made sense for her to accompany Harrison.

Conrad was such a lecherous man, and Adeline had such a pretty face...

An idea popped into Eleanor's head.

Smiling, Eleanor replied, "Thank you for the invitation, Mr. Stein, but I'm here to have dinner with a director tonight."

"Oh, it's a pity. Work takes priority," Conrad said.

"Perhaps we can have dinner together some other time."

Eleanor didn't give a direct answer. After politely bidding him farewell, she went upstairs.

She sat in the private room she had reserved, feeling somewhat conflicted.

Tonight presented a golden opportunity to ruin Adeline.

But if Harrison found out she was involved, then she would be in trouble.

Just then, Eleanor caught sight of Halle and suddenly had an idea.

She took out her phone and transferred some money to Halle.

Hearing a notification sound, Halle quickly took out her phone. When she saw that Eleanor had sent her money, she was confused.

"Miss Fraser, what is this for?"

"Go find a shop, buy a new outfit, and get a new hat. Oh, and a mask too," Eleanor instructed.

"Just make sure no one recognizes you. Then, withdraw two thousand dollars in cash."

Halle asked, puzzled, "What do you need all that for?"

Eleanor motioned for her to come closer.

Halle leaned in to listen.

Eleanor whispered something in her ear.

The more Halle listened, the more her expression changed.

By the time Eleanor finished, Halle's face had turned a bit pale.

"Miss Fraser, maybe we should just let it go..."

"What, are you defying my orders?" Eleanor gave her a sharp look.

"N... no, I wouldn't dare...”

"Then go do it! Remember, make sure no one recognizes you, or else you'll be the one facing the consequences!"

Halle wanted to reject it but didn't dare. With Eleanor urging her relentlessly, she had no choice but to leave the private room to carry out Eleanor's instructions.
