Chapter 325: She Achieved Her Goal

Inside the operating room, Jasmine lay on the surgical bed, tears streaming down her face.

Rogelio, deeply distressed, said, "Alright, babe. I'll have you moved to a proper room so you can rest."

"Our baby is gone," Jasmine sobbed. "We just finished preparing the nursery for it yesterday, and now it's gone."

Rogelio's eyes reddened, but he held back his tears. He had to be strong for Jasmine and help - her stabilize her emotions.

"It's fine, Jasmine. We can still have more children in the future," he reassured her.

He didn't dare tell her what the doctor had said - that future pregnancies would be extremely difficult for her.

He feared she wouldn't be able to handle such devastating news.

"I regret everything," Jasmine said. "I shouldn't have been with you in the first place. This is my punishment for betraying my sister. I've lost our child."

"Don't say that," Rogelio interjected quickly.

"We love each other. How can that be wrong?"

"Do we? Then why does Russell resent us so much? He resents us to the point of..."

Rogelio's expression darkened. "Jasmine, are you saying Russell caused this?"

Jasmine quickly backtracked. "No, Russell isn't like that. I misspoke."

But to Rogelio, her hesitation seemed like an attempt to protect Russell.

"Even now, you're still defending him?"

Rogelio said through gritted teeth. "He has the audacity to hurt his own family. I can't believe I ever trusted him. I shouldn't have handed over the Hunter Group to him so early."

"But Russell has been managing the company very well," Jasmine pointed out.

"It's not about management," Rogelio snapped.

"With a heart that ruthless, he'll eventually kick both of us out. No, I'll have to find a way to reclaim my authority gradually."

When she heard this, a glint of triumph flashed in Jasmine's eyes.

This was exactly what she wanted.

Russell had always held control over the Hunter Group, and that irked her to no end.

A few weeks ago, during a prenatal checkup, the doctor had informed Jasmine that her pregnancy was risky. The baby might not survive childbirth, and even if born, he would have a high chance of dying shortly after.

The doctor recommended an early termination to minimize damage to Jasmine's health.

Rogelio had been with her for that checkup, but he had stepped out to take a call and missed the doctor's explanation.

Jasmine, not wanting to disappoint Rogelio, pleaded with the doctor to keep it a secret.

Out of sympathy, the doctor agreed.

Jasmine kept this information to herself, waiting for the right moment-a moment where she could turn Rogelio against Russell.

Jasmine knew that despite Rogelio's occasional

complaints about Russell, he still cared for his son.

But if Russell caused the loss of Rogelio's unborn child, things might be different.

Jasmine began laying her trap.

She knew Russell wouldn't willingly meet her, so she needed leverage.

That leverage was Adeline.

Since Russell had feelings for Adeline, Jasmine decided to use her as bait.

But Adeline might not agree to meet her directly, so Jasmine needed a backup plan.

She discovered that her nephew Manuel had recently joined a club where one of the members was Anna, a member of the Thomson Group's executive office and close to Adeline.

Jasmine instructed Manuel to pursue Anna and use her to draw Adeline out.

Manuel, eager to please, successfully won Anna over.

Then, Jasmine had the housekeeper accompany her to the hospital for one more check-up.

Although she had already prepared herself to frame Russell, deep down, she still wanted to have the child. So, she decided to get one last confirmation.

The results confirmed the earlier prognosis: the baby wouldn't survive.

Jasmine's hopes were completely shattered.

Accepting this, Jasmine decided to proceed with her scheme.

She invited Adeline to dinner, knowing full well she'd refuse.

As expected, Adeline declined.

That was when Manuel stepped in, using Anna to get Adeline to agree.

With Adeline present, Jasmine was able to summon Russell to the scene.

Adeline's involvement provided an additional advantage. Jasmine could frame the situation to make it appear that Russell, angered over Adeline, had lashed out and harmed her.

Rogelio, aware of Russell's feelings for Adeline, would be quick to believe her story.

And now, Jasmine had achieved her goal.

Though Russell still technically held control over the Hunter Group, Rogelio's newfound distrust of him would ensure his life wouldn't remain smooth for long.

Moreover, Rogelio trusted Jasmine completely-or rather, distrusted Russell so deeply that he didn't need much convincing.

"Don't be too angry," Jasmine said with feigned sadness. "Russell was just

momentarily misguided. Let's let this matter pass. I need to focus on recovering. You're right. We can have more children."

Rogelio felt a pang of guilt. He opened his mouth, intending to tell Jasmine about the doctor's prognosis, but the words wouldn't come.

He decided to wait until she regained her strength.

Outside the hospital, Manuel, nursing his bruises, prepared to head home.

Today had been a disaster. He'd been berated, beaten, and utterly humiliated.

Still, thinking of Jasmine's promises, he consoled himself.

If he relied solely on the Snider family, he'd never have a shot at such wealth.

As he got into his car, someone suddenly covered his head with a cloth.

"What the...!"

Before Manuel could shout further, his mouth was gagged.

He mentally cursed his luck.

Just when he thought the day couldn't get worse, it did.

Dragged into the backseat, Manuel felt the car start moving.

He had no idea how long they drove before it finally stopped.

Pulled roughly out of the car, the cloth was removed from his head.

He opened his eyes, heart racing with fear.

It was already dark outside.

But there was a light beside him.

Blinking under the harsh light, he saw a group of people in front of him.

A man and a woman stood at the forefront-both unfamiliar.

"Who are you?" Manuel asked nervously.

"What do you want? Don't you know I'm Mrs. Hunter's nephew?"
