One night stand with my president(chapter 311)

Chapter 311: Are You Out of Your Mind?

Since Jasmine had already called out to her, Adeline couldn't just pretend not to hear.

She turned her head and gave Jasmine a polite smile.

"Jasmine."

"Miss Hensley, congratulations!" Jasmine walked over, looping her arm through Adeline's in a familiar way, and said warmly, "I heard you've reunited with your biological parents."

The Mendoza family was, after all, a prominent family in Yewhaina and had collaborated with many major domestic companies. They hadn't deliberately kept the reunion a secret. Moreover, their long-lost daughter happened to be Harrison's chief secretary, so the news spread quickly.

, Adeline felt a little uncomfortable with Jasmine's overly friendly demeanor.

But since Jasmine was pregnant, it wouldn't be good to push her away.

"Thank you," Adeline replied politely.

"It's such a big event. I should invite you to a celebration dinner," Jasmine continued with a smile. "After all, we know each other, and I've also heard that you and Russell get along quite well."

Adeline found Jasmine's words inexplicable and thought, "We aren't even close. Why is she suddenly suggesting a meal?"

Then it occurred to her. "Maybe Jasmine wanted her to mediate and help Russell reconcile with the family.

But Adeline didn't think it was her place to intervene.

Besides, only Russell truly understood his own pain.

So, 'she politely declined.

"Thank you for the invitation, but it's the end of the year, and work is very busy. Plus, I'm heading to Yewhaina in a few days, so I won't have time."

Jasmine didn't seem upset at all. She smiled and said, "It's understandable to be busy this time of year. Let's talk again after you return from Yewhaina."

After exchanging a few more pleasantries,

Adeline left.

Jasmine watched her back with a cryptic smile.

Harrison's concerns were well-founded.

Because as soon as Adeline arrived at the company, she ran into Eleanor.

Despite Eleanor's meticulously applied makeup, she couldn't hide her haggard appearance.

When she saw Adeline, her eyes flared with intense hatred.

If they weren't in the office, Adeline had no doubt Eleanor would have lunged at her.

Adeline couldn't be bothered to confront Eleanor and prepared to walk away.

"Adeline," Eleanor suddenly called out.

Adeline didn't stop walking.

Just because Eleanor called her name didn't mean she had to stop.

Seeing Adeline blatantly ignore her, Eleanor grew even angrier.

She quickly caught up and blocked

Adeline's path.

Adeline said coolly, "Miss Fraser, you're here to terminate your contract with the company. I'm not the one in charge of that."

Eleanor let out a cold laugh. "I know you're feeling pretty smug right now, Adeline. You ruined me. I've lost everything because of you."

Adeline looked at her as if she was speaking nonsense.

"Are you out of your mind?" Adeline asked bluntly.

She had figured it out. Reasoning with someone like Eleanor was pointless.

So Adeline just fought fire with fire.

Eleanor let out a deranged laugh and said, "I have nothing left. But don't think your days ahead will be smooth sailing."

Leaning close to Adeline's ear, she sneered,

"Beniamin has his eves on you. Do you

think it'll be easy to escape? Let me tell you something: everyone in the Tillman family is a lunatic. Since he's set his sights on you, he won't let go. You think you'll be happy with Harrison? Not a chance."

Adeline couldn't stand having her so close.

Even though Eleanor wore expensive perfume, it smelled suffocating to her.

She stepped back a few paces, her expression flat, and said just one word. "Oh."

Eleanor had just spewed all that venom, and all she got in return was a single "oh."

It nearly pushed her over the edge.

Halle, who had been following Eleanor, quickly whispered, "Miss Fraser, please calm down. Let's get this over with. This is the Thomson Group. We shouldn't cause trouble here."

Eleanor took a deep breath, turned around, and left.

Halle gave Adeline a quick, uneasy glance before following her.

Adeline turned and walked toward the CEO's

office, feeling a mix of emotions.

Outwardly, she had brushed off Eleanor's words, but in truth, they unsettled her.

She didn't doubt what Eleanor had said.

It was clear Benjamin wasn't normal.

Even though the Thomson family and the Mendoza family were strong enough to handle him, she still worried. If Benjamin became completely unhinged, he could cause chaos and harm everyone involved.

In a scenario like that, no one would walk away unscathed.

As soon as Adeline sat down in the CEO's office, Anna brought her a stack of files.

The team in the Thomson Group's executive office were all highly capable. Even in Adeline's absence, they had handled everything smoothly.

But certain important matters still required her or Harrison to make the final call.

"By the way, Miss Hensley," Anna said after handing over the files, "Mr. Ronan stopped by earlier. He was using crutches. He asked for you, but I told him you hadn't been in the office for a few days, so he left."

Now that Adeline thought about it, she hadn't seen Ronan in quite a while. She wondered how his injury was doing.

But since he'd managed to come to the office, it must mean he was recovering.

"Got.it," Adeline replied.

After Anna left, Adeline pushed aside her other thoughts, focused on the stack of files, and threw herself into work.

Meanwhile, Eleanor, full of resentment, went to sign her termination agreement.

To her surprise, she ran into another actress who , was there to sign a new contract.

The actress was Chelsea Duncan, a rising star who had appeared in several hit shows and had become very popular in the past two years.

The moment Eleanor saw her, she knew Chelsea was her replacement.

Eleanor thought, "The Thomson Group works this fast? No. Harrison only told me to terminate the contract yesterday. There was no way they could've chosen Chelsea, contacted her, and arranged for her to come here in just one night and morning."

This could only mean one thing: Harrison had decided to drop her long ago.

Eleanor thought bitterly. "How ruthless."

Not only had he terminated her contract, but he'd also chosen Chelsea-a woman she had a history with-as her replacement. Harrison was clearly trying to humiliate Eleanor.

The conflict between Eleanor and Chelsea dated back two years.

Back then, Chelsea had been a newcomer, far , less popular than she was now.

However, her agency had recognized her potential and invested heavily in promoting her.

That year, Chelsea attended a show in Mugroaton as a guest.

Coincidentally, Eleanor was also a guest on the same program.

Chelsea's beauty and lively personality had made her stand out on the show, which annoyed Eleanor.

Leveraging her seniority and higher status, Eleanor had subtly and overtly belittled Chelsea throughout the program.

Chelsea had tried to endure it, not wanting to cause trouble, but her fiery temper eventually got the better of her, and she confronted Eleanor.
