One night stand with my president(chapter 297)

Chapter 297: Have You Missed Me?

Adeline chuckled and said, "Don't forget, I'm also part of the Thomson Group. Although I don't have time now, I'll definitely visit Castlewill Manor one day. When I do, I'll just buy whatever I like myself."

Hearing this, Harrison felt a bit reassured.

She said she was still part of the Thomson Group.

That meant, for now, she wasn't planning on leaving.

"Alright," he said quietly. "By the way, what was it you wanted to say?"

"Nothing." Adeline's tone had a hint of shyness.

In a brief moment of impulse, she'd almost asked if he missed her.

But as the conversation went on, she cooled down and found the question far too embarrassing.

After she spoke, she heard Harrison let out a soft chuckle.

Then he said, "Yes, I missed you."

"What?" Adeline responded, startled.

Wait, how did he know what I was thinking?" she thought.

"Wh... what are you talking about? I didn't ask you that."

"Didn't you just want to ask if I missed you?"

Harrison said, amused. "I don't know how, but I just felt like that's what you wanted to know."

Adeline stayed silent.

He was right.

"So, did you miss me?" Harrison asked again.

Adeline wanted to say no, but the truth slipped out before she could stop it.

"Yes," she admitted quietly.

Even though she'd been wrapped up in the joy of reuniting with her birth parents, her mind would drift to him now and then.

And it had only been a little over a day since they last saw each other.

When he was just her boss, she'd sometimes go days without seeing him and wouldn't feel sad.

But now, she missed him dearly.

At her response, Harrison's mood visibly lifted.

They chatted a bit longer, and after hanging up, Adeline received a call from Joyce.

Adeline had just been thinking about reaching out to Joyce, so this was perfect timing.

"Hey, Joyce, how are you?"

"Adeline, I've reached my destination!"

Joyce's voice sounded tired but happy. "It's beautiful here, just like I imagined. I'm staying in a little bed and breakfast for now. After I rest up, lI start looking for a place."

"What's it like? Is it safe?"

"Don't worry," Joyce assured her. "It's a small, friendly town. People here are so welcoming. It's really safe."

Hearing this, Adeline felt relieved.

"By the way," Adeline said, "do you have that new bank account number? I didn't save it before you left."

"Why ask this?" Joyce asked.

"I still owe you money. I'm going to send it over."

"Wow, did you hit the jackpot?"

Adeline briefly explained the recent events about her birth parents.

Joyce nearly screamed in excitement.

"Did I hear you right? The Mendoza family of Yewhaina? You're actually their long-lost heiress? Girl, forget a windfall. This is a major jackpot! Remember how we used to joke that you'd one day hit it big and sponsor me? Well, now you really can!"

"So, should I expect you to start calling me 'Sugar Mama' from now on?" Adeline teased.

"Sugar Mama! Sugar Mama!" Joyce replied without hesitation.

Adeline burst out laughing, and just then, Joyce sent over the bank details. Adeline thought for a moment and then transferred a million to her account.

"I got it... Wait, what? Adeline, have you lost it? Why did you send me a million? I didn't lend you that much!"

"Just keep it," Adeline said. "Consider the rest for emergencies."

"I mean, I was kidding about you sponsoring me, but this is way too much. I don't even need that much."

"Then think of it as a loan," Adeline replied.

"It's better for you to have some emergency money on hand. What if one day you need it and can't reach me or your parents? Hopefully, nothing will come up. If you don't use it, just pay me back when you get back."

"Adeline, you're amazing..."

"Come on. You don't need to say all that," Adeline replied. "Just keep in touch with your parents and me, so we don't worry."

"Don't worry. I will. Actually, I was wondering..."

Joyce hesitated.

Adeline immediately understood.

"You want to know how Mr. Juarez is doing?"

"Hey, don't read into it. I said I'm over him, and I mean it. But since his injury was sort of my fault, I do hope he's recovering."

Adeline didn't press further and simply said,

"Don't worry. He's healing well. He'll be discharged in a few days."

"Good to hear..."

Joyce quickly moved on, changing the topic to how beautiful the town was. She was eager to explore once she found a place, and promised to send Adeline some pictures.

"If you have time, you should come visit this town with Mr. Thomson. And with your family in Yewhaina, I guess you'll be heading there at some point. Wait, but if you do, what about Mr. Thomson?"

The thought made Adeline's heart ache.

"I haven't decided yet."

Realizing her question might have struck a nerve, Joyce regretted asking.

Still, she knew the issue wouldn't disappear, whether she mentioned it or not.

"Well, you'll have to go to Yewhaina at some point. If I'm free, maybe I'll join you there, and we can meet up!"

"That would be perfect," Adeline said.

"Alright, I'd better get some sleep. I haven't had a good rest in days. I'm exhausted."

"Get some rest, then."

After they hung up, Adeline's mind kept replaying Joyce's words.

Just thinking about her future with Harrison brought a dull ache to her heart.

That morning, Eleanor had just woken up when she received a call from Benjamin.

"Harrison is at Castlewill Manor," he informed her. "I think he's planning to stay there for a few days, so this is your chance." Eleanor's heart started racing.

“What should I do?” She asked eagerly.

“Head to Castlewill Manor immediately,” Benjamin said.”I’ve booked a room for you there. I’II take care of the rest.”

  2. Benjamin is only making a fool of himself alongside Eleanor and how will Adeline's parents take his joke of being obsessed by their daughter's resemblance to his late girlfriend. Too bad Adeline's brother, Alberto is still unconscious and I pray he recovers quickly soon.
