One night stand with my president(chapter 295)

Chapter 295: Spend Wisely

It took a great deal of effort for Adeline to calm her emotions.

She had truly found her biological parents.

And just like her, they were overjoyed and excited about their reunion.

From now on, she had a family again.

Adeline helped Isaac and Gracie wipe away their tears.

"This is such a happy day. We shouldn't be crying," Gracie said. "Let's go back and share this wonderful news with Alberto. Maybe hearing it will wake him up!"

Isaac nodded.

Each of them held one of Adeline's hands, as if afraid she might slip away again.

Back in Alberto's hospital room, they eagerly shared the news with him.

"Alberto, we got the results. Adeline is indeed your sister! Alberto, please wake up and see your sister. After more than twenty years, she's finally back with us."

As she spoke, Gracie couldn't help but cry again.

She felt like life was playing tricks on her.

Just after her daughter was born, Gracie was forced to give her up.

That parting had lasted over twenty years.

Now that she had finally found her daughter, her son lay in a hospital bed, still unconscious.

Gracie didn't know what she had done to deserve this.

Alberto remained still, unconscious.

Yet, when no one was looking, his right-hand fingers twitched slightly.

Adeline quickly shared the good news with Harrison and sent a message to Joyce.

Then she called Lacey to tell her she'd found her birth parents.

Lacey was genuinely happy for her, even tearing up on the call. After all these years, Adeline's struggle had finally come to an end.

Lacey didn't ask about her birth parents' wealth or status, only whether they treated Adeline well.

Adeline reassured her that her biological parents were wonderful to her.

After hanging up, Adeline told Isaac and Gracie, "While my adoptive father wasn't kind, my aunt has always been incredibly supportive. And my cousins and I are quite close."

"In that case, we must thank them properly," Gracie said. "Let's invite them out for a meal sometime."

Adeline slapped her forehead, smiling. "I was so excited that I forgot my aunt is actually staying in this hospital right now."

She had been so focused on sharing the news with Lacey that she forgot she could tell her in person.

But reuniting with her birth parents was a once-in-a-lifetime event.

Even for someone as composed as Adeline, it was hard to stay calm.

"Really? Then we should visit her," Isaac said.

"Let's not go empty-handed. Let's get some gifts,"Gracie urged.

"There's no need. My aunt won't care about things like that," Adeline replied.

"No, it's important to show respect."

Gracie was insistent, and instead of sending someone to buy gifts, she asked Isaac to go himself.

Isaac was quick, returning shortly with several gifts, and Adeline led them to Lacey's ward.

Lacey was recovering well after her surgery and was in high spirits.

Seeing Adeline with her birth parents, Lacey was thrilled. She ended up chatting so much with Gracie that they nearly burst into tears together.

Bianca happened to be there too.

Bianca quietly pulled Adeline aside and whispered, "I overheard two nurses gossiping yesterday and thought they must have it wrong. But they said your birth parents are from Yewhaina and loaded with cash?"

Adeline thought for a moment and then nodded,"More or less."

Bianca immediately grinned, rubbing her fingers together with a mischievous look, and teased, "Hand it over, or I'll spill the beans about how you lost a fight to me as a kid."

Adeline let out a laugh, pulled out a ten-dollar bill, and handed it to her.

"Spend it wisely."

Bianca huffed, "Adeline, you stingy thing!"

Naturally, Bianca was just joking. If Adeline actually handed her a large sum, she'd never take it.

After messing around with Bianca, Adeline looked down at her phone again.

She'd told Harrison about the paternity test results, and he was genuinely happy for her.

But after a few texts, the conversation stalled.

She wasn't sure what else to say to Harrison.

She imagined he was feeling the same way.

Right then, Harrison was in his office, looking down at his phone.

The screen displayed his chat with Adeline.

Truthfully, he was happier than anyone about her reunion with her family.

But his joy was soon replaced by worries about their future.

He had thought the distance between them was narrowing.

But now, it felt as if an insurmountable chasm had appeared.

He wanted to talk to Adeline, but knowing how joyful she was about her family, he held back.

He didn't want to risk dampening her happiness.

Adeline spent the entire day with Isaac and Gracie, sharing nearly every detail of the past twenty years.

She also learned why she had been given up.

It turned out that a month after her birth, her

biological grandfather, Ricardo Mendoza, had died suddenly.

Before his passing, Ricardo had designated Isaac, his only son, as heir, which was both logical and expected.

But then, Isaac's cousin appeared, claiming that baby Adeline had brought misfortune upon Ricardo and that Isaac was unworthy of his position.

For a family like the Mendozas, such superstitions seemed absurd.

But Isaac's cousin had gathered support from several family members, even demanding the infant Adeline's life and Isaac's resignation.

Isaac and Gracie saw through it. They just wanted to seize the family's power.

Sadly, their innocent newborn daughter had become the scapegoat. And those vultures wanted to eliminate her to legitimize their ploy.

Since Ricardo had passed unexpectedly, Isaac hadn't yet consolidated his power and had little ability to fight back.

Seeing that his daughter was at risk, Isaac had no choice but to send her away.

And the task of delivering Adeline to safety had fallen to Gracie's sister, Gloria Frederick.
