Chapter 275: what’s wrong?
The injustice against Myra was finally cleared.
After going through all this, Myra had changed significantly.
Things that once seemed so important to her now suddenly felt much less so.
Eleanor, after seeing the news, also let out a sigh of relief.
Benjamin was reliable in handling things.
If it had been Lance, she didn't know what extreme measures he might have taken.
Still, she had a nagging feeling that Harrison and Adeline wouldn't let things go so easily.
They were sure to keep digging.
She needed to quickly make Harrison hers and then make Adeline leave with Benjamin.
That day, Eleanor visited the Thomson Group again.
She was now the spokesperson for the Thomson Group's new product, and besides taking promotional photos, there were other
matters to discuss in detail.
In the past, she would go straight to Harrison's office whenever she visited the Thomson Group.
But now, she didn't dare.
It was clear that Harrison didn't want to see her, and going there would only make things awkward for her.
Not to mention, she'd have to see Adeline.
But unexpectedly, she still ran into Adeline when she arrived at the Thomson Group.
Adeline was looking down at a document, planning to discuss some matters with the tech department. But she felt someone watching her.
Adeline looked up and saw it was Eleanor.
She knew Eleanor would be at the Thomson
Group today.
What she didn't expect was that the moment their eyes met, Eleanor actually smiled at her.
And it was a very polite smile.
Adeline was baffled and got goosebumps.
After everything that had happened and seeing Eleanor smile like that, Adeline instantly thought that Eleanor was up to something again.
Otherwise, Eleanor would not be acting so nice."Miss Hensley, it's been a long time since we last met," Eleanor said with a smile.
With others around, Adeline couldn't just ignore Eleanor, so she gave a slight nod.
A staff member then came over to escort Eleanor to the prepared meeting room.
Eleanor nodded politely at Adeline before leaving with the staff.
Adeline thought to herself, "What's wrong with Eleanor? Even if she was trying to keep up appearances, wasn't this a bit over the top?"
But Adeline didn't dwell on it and went back to her work.
While Adeline didn't give it much thought, Eleanor was fuming inside.
She had to put on a respectful front with Adeline.
After all, Adeline had Harrison and Benjamin backing her now.
Harrison was easy to handle. After all, they'd known each other for years, and Eleanor felt he wouldn't be too ruthless with her.
But Benjamin was an easy one to deal with.
The Tillman family were all lunatics. While Benjamin seemed calm and rational on the surface, he might be even crazier than Lance deep down.
So Eleanor didn't dare risk offending Adeline any further, for fear that Benjamin might "take care of" her.
But Adeline was someone she loathed and despised.
That made Eleanor feel particularly miserable.
"Miss Fraser, please have a seat," an employee said politely.
After Eleanor sat on the sofa in the meeting room, a young lady brought her a cup of coffee.
Eleanor was filled with pent-up frustration,
waiting for an outlet.
The lady had just happened to walk into the line of fire.
Eleanor took a sip of the coffee and then snapped, "Why is this coffee so sweet? Are you deliberately trying to provoke me?"
The lady froze, a bit at a loss. "I made it with the standard amount."
"Well, your 'standard' doesn't seem to match mine," Eleanor sneered.
The lady who served Eleanor the coffee was Isaline.
Though her position was as a junior designer, she didn't have a fixed role yet.
Since the other department was short-staffed, her supervisor had sent her to help out.
Isaline had thought it would be a simple task, only to end up being scolded by Eleanor.
Isaline knew this was the famous celebrity, Eleanor.
Isaline thought, "She always looks so kind and gentle on TV. Why is she so different in real life?"
Taking a deep breath, Isaline said, "I'll make you another cup."
Eleanor's lips curled into a sneer.
A moment later, Isaline returned with another cup of coffee.
"Why is it so bitter? Don't you add sugar? If you can't even make a cup of coffee right, how did you handle other jobs?"
Isaline was speechless.
Now she understood that Eleanor was making things difficult for her on purpose.
The first time, Eleanor had complained the coffee was too sweet, so Isaline had put less sugar in the second cup.
But now Eleanor complained it was too bitter.
This was Isaline's first time meeting Eleanor.
She hadn't done anything to offend Eleanor.
Isaline thought, "Is she so bored that she has to pick on a simple worker?"
Halle, standing behind Eleanor, glanced at Isaline with sympathy.
Halle knew exactly what was going on.
Eleanor was venting her frustrations.
Normally, Halle would be the target of these outbursts.
But now, Isaline just happened to be the one bringing her coffee, so Eleanor's target shifted to Isaline.
Eleanor could tell at a glance that Isaline, being just a coffee server, likely didn't hold an important position at the Thomson Group.
So Eleanor felt free to torment her.
"What are you standing there for? Don't you know to go make another cup?"
Isaline didn't move. Instead, she gave a tight-lipped smile and said, "Miss Fraser, with all due respect, someone as hard to please as you might be better off bringing your own coffee next time. You complained about sweetness one moment and bitterness the next. Maybe there's something wrong with your tongue. If you're sick,
you'd better get it treated soon."
"What did you just say?" Eleanor's face darkened.
She hadn't expected such a "nobody" to actually talk back to her.
"Tsk." Isaline shook her head. "I didn't realize you not only had a faulty tongue but also poor hearing. You can't even hear what people are saying. How poor!"
"You!" Eleanor stood up in anger. "How dare you speak to me like that? I'm a guest at the Thomson Group!"
Isaline scoffed.
Even as a guest, she had no right to throw a tantrum here.
Just then, Braydon, who was in charge of meeting with Eleanor, walked in.
Seeing the scene in the meeting room, he immediately asked, "What's going on here? Miss Fraser, is there a problem?"
Eleanor sneered, "You're just in time..."
She signaled to Halle behind her.
Although unwilling, Halle said, "Your company's staff was very rude to Miss Fraser. We hope you'll handle this properly. Otherwise, it makes others question the quality of your employees."
