Chapter 208:The Plot Targeting Me
"Really?" Myra started to show interest.
"What's your plan?"
"The reason there are so many rumors about you online right now is simply because you were the last person to see Amber before she died,"
Eleanor said. "If you can push someone else who had a bad relationship with Amber into the spotlight, the netizens will no longer focus on you."
Myra frowned, giving Eleanor a glance with an ambiguous expression.
But Eleanor didn't notice and continued, "I don't know if you've heard, but actually, Ms. Hensley and Amber never got along."
"Is that so?" Myra said indifferently. "So you mean I should spread some rumors about Adeline? Saying that Amber was killed by Adeline?"
Eleanor hadn't expected Myra to speak so bluntly.
She gave an awkward laugh and said, "It doesn't have to be that obvious. Just find someone to post articles here and there saying that Ms. Hensley and Amber didn't get along and that they often argued at the company. That should be enough. Some people will surely start imagining things on their own."
Then Eleanor would get some hired posters to fan the flames.
The netizens would start to believe that Adeline was the one who killed Amber.
Just thinking about what might happen to Adeline made Eleanor feel thrilled.
Then she could have Lance come up with some forged evidence.
Maybe they could actually pin the crime on Adeline.
However, she couldn't directly start spreading rumors about Adeline online.
Eleanor was afraid of being caught.
Even if Harrison didn't investigate, Adeline was not someone to mess with.
So, she planned to use Myra.
First, she would have her hired posters berate
Myra until she broke down, and then she would incite Myra to shift the blame onto Adeline...
After all, Myra had never liked Adeline.
Eleanor's plan was well thought out.
But what she didn't expect was that after saying all this, Myra's face turned cold, and her gaze towards Eleanor was full of disgust.
"Are you trying to use me?" Myra asked coldly.
Eleanor was startled and quickly said, "What are you talking about? I'm sincerely looking out for you. I don't want to see you continuously insulted by others, so I suggested this as a last resort."
"Enough," Myra said impatiently. "Eleanor, I may be in a mess right now, but that doesn't mean you can treat me like a fool. If you're thinking of using me to go after Adeline, I advise you to drop that idea."
Myra might not like Adeline, but that didn't mean Eleanor could use her.
Besides, this was a serious matter.
Myra had previously misled Harrison into
thinking Adeline had taken her money.
But this was different. It was a murder case.
Myra couldn't just drag an innocent person down with her to deflect attention.
Even if that person was someone she really disliked.
Myra thought, "And honestly, Adeline isn't that bad."
If she had the energy, Myra would rather have someone investigate who the real culprit was.
"Mrs. Thomson, I didn't mean that," Eleanor said in a panic. "How could I dare treat you like a fool? I just don't think Adeline is a good person. She knows you don't approve of her relationship with Harrison, yet she still clings to him."
Myra sneered, "Are you sure you're not talking about yourself?"
Eleanor was at a loss for words, stunned and unsure of how to respond.
"Enough, I don't want to hear any more from you. You can leave now," Myra said impatiently.
Myra was already in a bad mood, and Eleanor just made it worse.
"Mrs. Thomson..."
"And, stop pestering Harrison. Stay away from him. Let me be clear that I will never allow you to marry into the Thomson family."
Eleanor was completely shocked.
She had calculated everything before coming, but she never expected this reaction from Myra.
Since Myra had made it very clear that she wanted Eleanor to leave, Eleanor had no choice but to stand up.
As she racked her brain for a way to salvage the situation, a servant approached.
The servant smiled at Eleanor and said, "Ms.
Fraser, Mr. Lorenzo Thomson has requested your presence upstairs."
Eleanor was taken aback.
She didn't know why Lorenzo would suddenly call for her.
Myra was also puzzled. "Are you sure Lorenzo asked for her?"
"Yes, ma'am," the servant replied. "Mr. Thomson personally instructed me."
With the servant saying this, Eleanor didn't dare delay and quickly followed the servant upstairs.
The servant led her to the door of Lorenzo's study and said, "Mr. Thomson is waiting for you inside."
"Thank you," Eleanor said politely.
After all, this was the Thomson family. She had to restrain her temper. Even if she looked down on the servants here, Eleanor still had to be courteous.
After the servant left, Eleanor raised her hand and knocked on the door.
"Come in." Lorenzo's voice quickly responded from inside, calm and emotionless.
Eleanor took a deep breath and pushed the door open.
Lorenzo was currently standing by the window of his study, watering the plants.
Eleanor stood there for a moment, but Lorenzo showed no intention of speaking.
She didn't dare to speak up on her own, so she stood there silently waiting.
She hadn't met Lorenzo many times.
But she knew very well that Lorenzo was a formidable figure.
Although Harrison was the one in charge of the Thomson family now, Lorenzo's status was still prominent, and Harrison held him in high regard.
Eleanor thought, "But why has Lorenzo summoned me here?”
The more Eleanor thought about it, the more nervous she became, but she forced herself to stay calm.
After a while, Lorenzo finished watering the plants, finally turning to her and saying, "Take a seat."
After speaking, he walked over to the sofa in the study and sat down.
Eleanor didn't dare to sit.
She forced herself to say, "I'll stand."
"Sit."
Lorenzo only said one word, but it carried an undeniable force.
Eleanor had no choice but to walk over and sit down opposite him.
"Ms. Fraser, you've been back in the country for a while now, haven't you?" Lorenzo asked.
Eleanor nodded cautiously. "Yes."
"You were doing well in Mugroaton. Why did you suddenly decide to return?"
Eleanor carefully chose her words and replied, "My roots are here. After drifting outside for so long, I started to miss home."
"You just decided to return like that? Didn't the young man of the Tillman family mind?"
When she heard this, all the color drained from Eleanor's face.
The Tillman family... That was Lance's family.
Lorenzo asking this question meant he already knew about her and Lance.
