Chapter 199: The Last Meal
When Amber received Myra's call, she had just gotten up.
Myra invited her to breakfast.
"Now?" Amber was surprised.
She checked the time and said, "But it's almost time for work. I need to hurry to the office..."
"With me here, even if you skip work for years, no one will dare say anything," Myra said coldly.
"Go to the place I told you right now."
"Okay, I'll be there soon," Amber quickly responded.
After all, she didn't join the Thomson Group for work.
Now that she had a chance to get close to Myra, why would she refuse?
Amber quickly got ready and took a cab to the restaurant Myra had mentioned.
As soon as she entered, a waiter immediately greeted her.
"Miss Lawson?"
Amber nodded and said, "That's me."
"Mrs. Thomson is already here. Please follow me."
Amber followed the waiter to a private room on the third floor.
Along the way, she continuously observed the restaurant's decor and could clearly sense that it was a high-end place.
Amber thought, "Wealthy people have it good.
They go to such a place just for breakfast."
After entering the room, she saw that Myra was indeed already seated at the table.
She hurried over and said, "Sorry, Mrs. Thomson, I'm late."
Myra didn't seem to hold it against her and simply said, "Take a seat."
Amber took a seat opposite Myra.
The waiter brought two menus.
"Order whatever you want," Myra said.
Amber gasped when she opened the menu.
Since it was breakfast time, the waiter had given them the breakfast menu.
She didn't expect breakfast to be so expensive.
Amber envied the lives of the rich even more.
It seemed that the 160 thousand dollars Eleanor gave her wasn't much.
Just a few breakfasts here would deplete it.
But it didn't matter. She had Eleanor's leverage and could ask for more money whenever she wanted.
With Myra around, Amber didn't have to worry about money. She ordered many expensive dishes without hesitation.
Myra didn't mind. For her, this amount of money was nothing.
Besides, she needed Amber to help her with something and had to offer some benefits.
Once they finished ordering and the waiter left with the menu, Amber asked, "Mrs. Thomson, is there something urgent you need me for today?"
"Yeah. I need your help with something," Myra said with a faint smile.
Amber was flattered and said, "Mrs. Thomson, you don't need to be so polite. Just tell me what you need."
"How have things been with Harrison lately?" Myra asked.
Amber was taken aback and then awkwardly said, "Since we came back from Marifort City, I haven't talked to Mr. Harrison."
Myra frowned slightly.
"What's going on between you and Harrison? With your qualifications, if there wasn't a special reason, Harrison wouldn't have let you into the Thomson Group, and especially not the President's Office."
Amber's gaze shifted.
She wasn't sure if she should let Myra know
about that night.
Most importantly, she wasn't the woman who saved Harrison that night.
If Myra found out and investigated, discovering the truth, it would ruin all their plans.
For a moment, Amber didn't know how to respond.
Fortunately, Myra didn't press further.
She said, "Regardless, in Harrison's heart, you must be special. Since that's the case, you should seize this opportunity."
Amber felt a bit excited.
Myra had hinted at something similar before.
Now, with these words, Amber thought Myra wanted her to marry Harrison.
Honestly, becoming Harrison's woman would be far better than just helping that person.
"Mrs. Thomson, I understand." Amber nodded repeatedly. "I will definitely work hard."
"Working hard is good, but don't waste your efforts," Myra said. "Do you know what the
biggest obstacle between you and Harrison is now?"
Amber suddenly had a flash of insight.
She tentatively asked, "Adeline?"
Myra smiled with satisfaction. "Exactly."
She paused and continued, "Now that you and Adeline are both in the President's Office, you have many opportunities to push her out."
"It's not that I don't want to," Amber said with a bitter smile, "but Adeline is the chief secretary, and I'm just a regular assistant."
"Then it depends on your abilities," Myra said lightly. "As long as you can get rid of Adeline, whatever you want, I will give you."
Amber tentatively asked, "Including being the future Mrs. Thomson?"
Myra sneered inwardly but showed no sign of it on her face as she said, "Of course."
Amber's heart raced with excitement.
Although she knew she couldn't fully trust
Myra's words, getting rid of Adeline was a sure bet.
"Then I hope that if something goes wrong, you'll help cover for me."
"Don't worry." Myra lightly tapped the table.
"As long as you handle this well, no matter what happens, I will back you up."
With Myra's assurance, Amber felt at ease.
The waiter soon brought their breakfast.
Myra had no appetite for breakfast, and since the conversation was over, she left quickly.
Amber ate her breakfast while dreaming about becoming the future Mrs. Thomson, completely unaware that this would be her last meal.
When Adeline woke up, the other bed was already empty.
There seemed to be some noise coming from the bathroom.
As she sat up, she saw the bathroom door open, and Harrison, dressed in new clothes, walked out.
"Awake?" Harrison smiled. "Good morning."
"Good morning." Adeline greeted him somewhat awkwardly.
She hadn't expected to see Harrison first thing in the morning.
In a daze, she even had the illusion that they were already living together.
Realizing this, Adeline quickly shook her head to dismiss such unrealistic thoughts.
"New clothes have arrived," Harrison said.
"Go change. I'll check on Sam."
"Okay."
As Harrison headed to the door, ready to leave, he suddenly remembered something and turned to ask, "What would you like for breakfast?" Adeline was taken aback and replied, "Anything is fine."
She felt a bit uncomfortable.
"Alright."
After Harrison left, Adeline finally realized why she felt awkward.
