Chapter 195: They Look Like a Couple
"How is Mr. Juarez?" Adeline asked.
"He's out of danger now," Harrison replied.
Upon hearing this, Adeline let out a slight sigh of relief.
"It's good that he's okay."
"I've already arranged for people to investigate. I'll let you know as soon as I have any results."
"Alright."
Seeing the redness in Mason's and Regina's eyes, Adeline knew they must have had a tough night.
She said, "I'll go buy some milk."
"I'll go with you."
With Sam still unconscious, Harrison's staying here seemed pointless.
More importantly, Sam's incident had deeply troubled Harrison.
The feeling of someone close to him getting hurt truly unpleasant.
Even if he could maintain his composure, the discomfort inside him was unmistakable.
He didn't want anyone else close to him to get hurt, especially not Adeline.
So now, he wanted to stay by her side.
"Alright." Adeline nodded.
The two of them left the hospital together and went to a convenience store nearby, buying five cups of hot milk.
Besides that, she also bought some food.
Mason and Regina probably weren't in the mood to eat, but Adeline worried they might be too hungry, so she got some food for them.
After leaving the convenience store, a cold wind blew, and Adeline couldn't help but wrap her coat tighter.
The weather was getting colder.
This winter seemed especially long.
And it was uncertain when the spring would come.
On the way back to the hospital, Adeline was still troubled about whether to tell Joyce about the incident.
Although Sam was now out of danger, knowing he was injured would inevitably make Joyce anxious and upset.
Moreover, Joyce would definitely come to the hospital to visit Sam.
Adeline wasn't sure if she was doing the right thing.
But if she didn't tell Joyce, Joyce would later regret that she didn't get to see Sam when he was critically injured.
"What are you thinking about?" Harrison asked.
Adeline came back to her senses, shook her head, and said, "Nothing."
Joyce's feelings for Sam were a secret.
She couldn't reveal it to Harrison.
Harrison's expression showed a hint of hurt
her head shake.
"You have secrets from me now."
Adeline chuckled and said, "Everyone has secrets. Isn't that normal?"
"Do you have to have secrets from me too?"
His reaction made Adeline feel a bit overwhelmed.
"Mr. Thomson, can you be a little less gossipy?"
"Don't call me Mr. Thomson. And what do you mean by 'less gossipy'?"
Adeline wanted to say 'return to the previous Mr. Thomson, but thought better of it and said, "Never mind. It's nothing."
In fact, Harrison hadn't changed towards outsiders.
It was just that he seemed increasingly different when he was around Adeline.
As they neared the hospital entrance, snowflakes began to fall.
Harrison instinctively grasped Adeline's wrist.
"Let's get inside quickly."
They quickened their pace, and just as they reached the hospital entrance, they saw a familiar figure getting out of a recently parked car.
It was Eleanor.
Eleanor smiled when she saw Harrison, but her smile froze when she saw him holding Adeline's wrist.
"Harrison..."
"What are you doing here?" Harrison asked, frowning slightly.
"I heard about Sam's injury," Eleanor said with concern. "I heard it was quite serious, so I came to check on him."
The Juarez family hadn't deliberately kept the news quiet.
Harrison was the first to know about Sam's injury outside the Juarez family, and then the news spread within their circle.
However, Harrison had already instructed people to tell others not to visit Sam for now.
The situation wasn't stable yet, and a large group of people arriving would only cause trouble.
Eleanor, whether she hadn't heard Harrison's instructions or chose to ignore them, had still come.
"He's already out of danger," Harrison said coldly.
"There's no need for you to see him." Eleanor quickly replied, "Sam is not only your friend but also mine. I'm worried about him. Is it so wrong for me to want to see him? You can't stop me. I also know his parents."
Harrison couldn't be bothered to argue with her.
Since she was alone, she probably wouldn't disturb Sam and his parents, so he said, "Do as you wish."
He then pulled Adeline inside.
Eleanor's gaze fell on their hands.
Even though Harrison was only holding Adeline's wrist and not directly holding her hand.
The two of them did look like a couple.
The two of them did look like a couple.
Eleanor almost ground her teeth in frustration.
But there was nothing she could do except silently follow behind them.
When they reached Sam's ward, before Adeline and Harrison could speak, Eleanor stepped forward and said, "Mason, Regina, I'm here to see Sam."
Regina was taken aback when she saw Eleanor and then said, "Oh, it's you... I heard you were back in the country and have been wanting to meet you, but couldn't find the time."
"Regina, you're too kind. I should be visiting you and Mason. But I've been so busy with work since. I came back. I didn't expect our meeting to be under these circumstances..."
Eleanor looked at Sam through the glass window with concern.
"Fortunately, Sam is fine now."
Adeline could see that Regina was already very tired and worried about Sam, and was barely keeping up appearances for Eleanor.
She frowned slightly but didn't want to say too much. She just handed two cups of milk over, one to Mason and one to Regina.
"Mr. Juarez, Mrs. Juarez, please have some hot milk."
They took the cups and thanked Adeline.
Eleanor's face darkened as she immediately started looking for a problem.
"Ms. Hensley, these two cups of milk were probably bought from some random store, right? think you may not be familiar with the Juarez family. Regina, after all, is a person of high status. How could she drink this kind of milk you bought?"
Mason and Regina exchanged glances.
Although they were wealthy, they were not picky about such things.
And honestly, they were in the mood for something warm right now. Mason had even thought about having someone buy some, and then Adeline had brought it over.
Regina was still thinking that Adeline had been helpful and she needed to thank Adeline properly.
So she didn't know why Eleanor suddenly said this.
"Ms. Fraser." Adeline's gaze turned cold. "I hope you understand that now is not the time for arguments, and this is not the place for disputes."
Eleanor had crossed the line. She pretended to be concerned about Sam while picking a fight at his ward.
