Chapter 194: Sam is in Trouble
Marshall coughed a few times and said, "I heard Ronan was injured in Marifort City. I've been worried about him. Is he Okay?"
"He's fine, just some superficial injuries.
He'll recover in a few days. Don't need to worry,"
Harrison reassured him.
A gust of wind blew by, and Marshall began to cough painfully again.
Ronan reached out to pat his back and said,
"You're not feeling well. Don't stand outside in the wind. Go back inside."
"Alright. I was just worried about Ronan. Seeing you come back, I wanted to check. Now that I know he's fine, I feel relieved,"
Marshall said with a forced smile. "If I were in better health, I could join the company and help you out like Ronan."
"You'll get better," Harrison said.
"Yes, I hope so," Marshall replied.
After Marshall left, Harrison drove away.
Marshall returned to his separate residence.
As soon as he entered the living room, he saw his father, Frankie Harrison, sitting on the sofa with his eyes closed, already asleep.
He stifled his cough and covered his father with a blanket.
Just as Marshall had covered him, Frankie opened his eyes.
"Dad, did I wake you?"
"It's alright. I wasn't sleeping very soundly. Did you see Harrison just now?"
"Yes, I saw him and we chatted for a while," Marshall replied, looking down with an unreadable expression.
"Did you mention that matter?"
"I tried to," Marshall said. "When I mentioned wanting to join the company, he didn't seem displeased, so it seems he doesn't oppose me joining the Thomson Group."
Frankie shook his head.
Frankie said, "Harrison is a schemer. If he's unhappy, he might not show it on his face."
"Could you be overthinking it?" Marshall asked, frowning.
Frankie smiled wryly. "We're not part of the Thomson family. In these matters, I have to be extra cautious. Think about it that how much neglect have we faced from the Thomson family over the years?"
Marshall didn't get a chance to reply before he began coughing violently.
Frankie quickly patted his back and handed him a cup of warm water.
As Marshall drank, Frankie continued, "If we don't think of a solution, we'll be stuck living in the Thomson family's shadow forever. We could be kicked out any day if we offend someone."
"Dad, it's my fault for not being healthy," Marshall said, his face pale.
"Alas, with your abilities, if you were in good health, you wouldn't be in this situation," Frankie sighed.
However, he quickly added, "But it's not your fault, and vour health has improved a lot. I
believe it won't be long before you're as good as new."
Marshall nodded.
"But it's best to keep a low profile. The Thomson family may seem calm, but it's turbulent beneath the surface. We can't be too eager or we'll attract attention..."
"Don't worry. I know," Marshall replied.
As Harrison parked his car downstairs at Adeline's place, his phone suddenly rang.
He answered the call.
His expression changed immediately after hearing what was said on the other end.
"Okay, I'm coming over right away."
After hanging up, he glanced at Adeline's window above and started calling her.
At that moment, Adeline had finished her noodles and prepared all the ingredients for cooking, just waiting for Harrison to arrive before she started cooking.
When she heard Harrison's voice, her expression also changed.
"When did this happen?" she asked.
"Not long ago," Harrison said grimly. "I'm heading to the hospital now, so I won't be coming up."
Adeline thought for a moment and said, "Wait for me. I'll come downstairs right away and go with you."
"Alright."
Adeline quickly changed her clothes and went downstairs to Harrison's car.
Harrison immediately started the car and drove towards the hospital.
On the way, Adeline could sense Harrison's impatience.
But she understood that Sam was his best friend.
The call Harrison received was from the Juarez family.
That person informed Harrison that Sam had been injured.
Sam had gone to a nightclub tonight but was attacked while leaving, sustaining serious injuries, and was now in critical condition.
Adeline felt distressed upon hearing the news.
She had known Sam for a long time and certainly didn't want anything to happen to him.
Additionally, Sam was currently someone Joyce liked.
If Joyce found out about this, she would definitely be heartbroken...
Adeline was torn about whether to tell Joyce.
It might be better to first check Sam's condition at the hospital.
Upon their arrival at the hospital, members of the Juarez family were already waiting at the entrance.
"What's the current situation?" Harrison asked as he walked into the hospital.
"Mr. Juarez is still in the operating room," came the response.
Harrison's expression darkened further.
"How could this suddenly happen? Has Mr.
Juarez made any enemies recently?" Adeline asked.
The servant said, "No... Mr. Juarez usually gets along with everyone and rarely makes enemies.
Besides, with the Juarez family's power and Mr. Juarez's relationship with you, even if he did make enemies, few would dare to act against him. Could it be an indiscriminate attack?"
"What about the surveillance footage outside the nightclub?" Adeline asked.
"It's quite a coincidence. The surveillance camera outside the nightclub happened to break down this afternoon and hasn't been repaired yet."
Harrison sneered.
It didn't seem like an indiscriminate attack.
The assault on Sam was premeditated.
Sam's plan to go to that nightclub tonight wasn't a secret.
Sam had called Harrison earlier that afternoon to ask if he wanted to join and mentioned he had invited many others.
Harrison had declined, not wanting to go.
This suggested that the attack was not an accident but a targeted attack. The assailant knew Sam would be at the nightclub and had deliberately disabled the surveillance camera.
Adeline and Harrison had the same realization.
She said, "I'll have someone investigate the people who went to the nightclub with Mr.
Juarez today."
There were many people who went out with Sam today, so identifying who leaked Sam's whereabouts wouldn't be easy.
Moreover, it was possible that the person didn't intentionally leak the information but mentioned it by accident.
It was a difficult task.
But for now, it was the only lead they had.
"Alright." After exiting the elevator, Adeline went aside to make a call.
Harrison proceeded to the operating room door.
Sam's parents had already arrived.
His mother was crying while his father comforted her, his eyes red and swollen.
"Mason, Regina."
Hearing his voice, they both turned to look.
"Harrison is here." Mason Juarez, Sam's father, nodded at him.
"Harrison, how could this sudden incident happen?" Regina Juarez, Sam's mother, cried, "Sam doesn't usually get into conflicts. Who would do such a thing to him?"
Harrison said, "I've already had people investigating. Don't worry. I believe he'll be alright."
As he finished speaking, the door of the operating room opened, and the doctor who had been performing the surgery walked out.
"Doctor, how is he?" Mason and Regina rushed over, and Harrison also stepped forward.
"You can be reassured. Mr. Juarez is out of danger now," the doctor said.
Hearing this, everyone present breathed a sigh of relief.
"That's great..."
"Mr. Juarez sustained two knife wounds to his abdomen, but they were less than an inch from being fatal," the doctor said, still shaken.
"Fortunately, if it had been any more to the side..."
Although the doctor didn't finish his sentence, everyone understood the implication.
If the wounds had been any more off-target, Sam might have died.
"Who could do this to my son?" Mason's forehead bulged with veins. "If I find out..."
"Although he's out of danger, he still needs to rest well and avoid any complications with his abdominal wounds."
"Okay, we will," Regina quickly agreed.
Sam was transferred to a VIP room on the top floor.
Regina looked through the glass at Sam lying inside, his face pale, and couldn't help but shed more tears.
"If something happened to Sam, it would be the end for me," Regina said.
"Alright, he's fine now. Stop crying, or you'll ruin your eyes," Mason comforted her.
Harrison also stood nearby, looking at the still-unconscious Sam with a dark expression.
At that moment, Adeline arrived.
