Chapter 259:You're Finally Back
Her voice wasn't loud, but several people nearby heard it, and their attention turned back to Abbie's bag.
Abbie, already feeling guilty, became even more uncomfortable when people looked at her and quickly moved her bag behind her.
This action was a dead giveaway.
Everyone understood what was going on.
Many people were quite disdainful of the couple.
They didn't think the couple should put on such a pretense among classmates, especially trying to show off in front of Adeline.
They were immediately seen through.
However, they still spared Jason and Abbie some dignity and didn't directly call them out.
But Jason and Abbie understood.
By looking at their classmates' expressions and glances, they knew many people were privately scorning them.
The couple was bitterly resentful toward Adeline.
After graduating from college, they had become increasingly lazy and were unwilling. to find jobs, living off their families. Now, their lives had become a mess.
Yet they were very vain, and when they learned about the reunion, they specifically bought fake jewelry and bags to impress others.
They had even researched a particularly high-end foreign jewelry brand online.
They originally thought no one would recognize it, but unexpectedly, Adeline exposed them.
They were seething with hatred toward Adeline, completely oblivious to the fact that they had been the ones to start trouble.
Adeline couldn't be bothered with Jason and Abbie. She continued eating and drinking as usual, knowing full well that the ones too upset to enjoy their meal weren't going to be her.
After dinner, Hannah cheerfully announced,
"Guys, the top floor of this restaurant is a karaoke bar. I've booked a room. Let's enjoy ourselves."
"Great, let's go."
Everyone was excited. After so many years, they were finally gathering together, and everyone was happy, except for Jason and Abbie.
They felt embarrassed and wanted to leave immediately but were unwilling to. They kept thinking they had to find an opportunity to embarrass Adeline.
Everyone went up to the top floor.
Hannah had booked a particularly large room.
Once they all entered, Hannah suddenly said to Adeline, "Adeline, I lost my bracelet and don't know where it went. Could you help me find it?"
"What bracelet?" Adeline asked.
Hannah, with tears in her eyes, said, "It's a keepsake from my mother that I've always cherished. But it might have gotten lost in the chaos just now."
Adeline frowned slightly and said, "Let me go. with you to help you look."
The two of them left the private room together.
The other classmates were busy debating which songs to sing, completely unaware that the two had left.
Only Jason and Abbie kept their eyes on Adeline.
Seeing her leave with Hannah, the two exchanged glances and quietly followed them out of the room.
"Where could it have fatlen? Why is it missing?" In the hallway, Hannah muttered anxiously to herself as she searched with her head down.
Adeline reassured her and said, "Don't worry, we'll find it. How about we go back to the dining room and check? Maybe you dropped it there."
"You're right." Hannah quickly nodded.
The two headed towards the elevator.
However, as they passed by a room, Hannah suddenly said, "I remember now. I must have walked into this room by mistake earlier. It might be here. Let's go in and check."
She then pulled Adeline's arm and, without further discussion, dragged her into the room.
As soon as they entered, Hannah closed the door.
Adeline looked up and saw two large foreign men standing at the door, keeping a firm watch on it.
In the middle of the room sat a young föreign man on the sofa.
Adeline didn't recognize him.
But at that moment, the man was staring at her intently.
The intense affection in his eyes made her uneasy.
Adeline thought, "Who is this man? He is a foreigner. Could it be..."
Adeline turned to Hannah and coldly asked,
"Hannah, what is going on here?"
Hannah looked down and said, "I'm sorry, Adeline. He paid too much."
Adeline was speechless.
At least Hannah was being honest.
At that moment, the young man on the sofa stood up and walked towards her step by step.
"Whitney..." he murmured: "Whitney, you're finally back."
Adeline frowned and said, "Who are you?"
She thought, "Is he Lance or Lance's brother, Benjamin? Why was he calling me 'Whitney'?"
The man seemed not to hear her question, walking up to her and gazing at her with deep affection.
"Whitney, I'm so glad to see you again."
"You've got the wrong person," Adeline said calmly.
The man raised his hand, seeming to want to touch her face.
Disgust flashed in Adeline's eyes, and she sharply swatted his hand away.
This action seemed to bring the man back to his senses.
However, he wasn't angry, still looking at her and saying, "Let me introduce myself. I'm the eldest son of the Tillman family; Benjamin Tillman."
Adeline thought, "So he is.Benjamin Tillman."
She had a clearer understanding now.
"Miss Hensley, it's really not easy to meet you," Benjamin said with a smile.
"So, you had Hannah organize this reunion just to meet me?" Adeline asked.
Benjamin nodded. "Exactly."
He wanted to meet Adeline and have a proper conversation with her, preferably without Harrison around.
That was a bit challenging.
So he contacted Adeline's high school classmate, Hannah, to help arrange a meeting.
Hannah thought if she directly invited Adeline, Adeline might be suspicious and not come.
After all, they hadn't been in touch for a long time, and Adeline would likely be wary of a sudden invitation.
Thus, Hannah organized a class reunion to invite Adeline.
"So, why do you want to see me?" Adeline asked again.
Her initial thought was that it might be related to Lance.
But just now, Benjamin called her "Whitney", and his gaze was so peculiar, filled with both affection and nostalgia.
It seemed he might have mistaken her for someone else.m
Adeline thought, "Is Benjamin confusing me with 'Whitney'?"
Before Benjamin could respond, the door to the room was suddenly pushed.
Because the two large foreign men were blocking the door, it was only pushed open a little.
Immediately, Jason's voice was heard.
"Adeline; Hannah, what are you two doing in there?"
Abbie's voice followed, "Are you plotting something? Trying to trick us?"
