One night stand with my president( chapter 210)

Chapter 210: It's Related to Her

At first, Adeline heard that the box was a gift from Harrison's sweetheart, which was why he cherished it so much.

At that time, when she opened the wardrobe and saw the box, Harrison caught her and seemed very angry.

So she assumed it was a gift from his sweetheart, something he wanted to keep hidden from others.

But now she knew that Eleanor was not Harrison's sweetheart at all.

Harrison had never liked Eleanor.

Adeline thought, "So, who exactly gave that box to Harrison? Why did he look so angry when I saw it?"

"It's better to lie down for a while," Harrison said.

Seeing Adeline lost in thought, he couldn't help but ask, "What are you thinking about?"

Since he asked, Adeline didn't hold back.

"Who gave you the box in your lounge's wardrobe?"

Harrison's expression stiffened a bit when she mentioned the box.

Adeline noticed this, of course.

She grew more curious.

"That box was given to me by my grandfather," Harrison said with a slight cough. "He gave it to me when I was a child.

At that time, toys in such boxes were very popular among kids. Sam had one too. I was probably four or five years old, and when I saw my friends with them, I wanted one as well. But my mom was afraid I would lose interest in my studies, so she refused to buy it for me."

Adeline was surprised.

She didn't expect the dignified Harrison to have such troubles when he was a child.

"Later, my grandfather said he wanted to give me a surprise, so he bought one for me," Harrison continued.

"Oh, I see." Adeline nodded. "No wonder you cherish it so much. What did the toy inside look like? Is it still there? Can I see it?"

"No," Harrison immediately replied.

Adeline looked puzzled.

It was normal for him to cherish the toy his grandfather gave him when he was a child.

She could understand why he refused to show it to her, but he didn't have to be so agitated.

Harrison explained, "The toy inside has been broken for a long time. I wanted to keep it, but one year, the servant at home threw it away when she saw it was broken. Now, it's just an empty box."

His explanation sounded reasonable.

But Adeline still found his reaction strange.

It was odd both this time and the last time.

However, since he didn't want to talk about it, she decided not to press further.

"It's almost quitting time. I think I'll just go home and rest," Adeline said, glancing at the time. "If there's anything, just give me a call."

Harrison nodded quickly, saying, "Okay, I'll see you home."

With that, he stood up.

"No need for that. It's so close. Why send me?"

"No matter how close, I have to see you home," Harrison insisted.

After a series of incidents, he was worried that Adeline might encounter some trouble as well.

Although he had secretly assigned bodyguards to protect her, Harrison still wanted to be by her side personally to feel assured.

With his insistence, Adeline didn't say anything further.

She actually wanted to spend a little more time with him.

As they left the office, Harrison glanced back at the lounge door, feeling a lingering fear.

Fortunately, Adeline didn't insist on seeing the box.

If she had known that the box actually contained something related to her, it would have been too embarrassing for Harrison.

Since Adeline's current residence was close to the company, the two decided to walk back instead of driving.

However, as soon as they stepped out of the company gate, a dirty, seemingly insane person suddenly rushed towards them.

"Adeline. Come here. If you dare to ignore me, I'll kill you."

Harrison's first reaction was to shield Adeline behind him.

The next second, several burly men charged out from somewhere, kicking the madman down, and two others quickly pinned him to the ground.

Even though he was pinned down, the man was still struggling desperately.

"What are you doing? Let me go. I want to see Adeline."

Harrison turned to Adeline and asked,

"Do you know him?"

Adeline's expression turned grim.

Of course she knew him.

Although the man's face was too dirty to recognize, she could tell from his voice.

It was Mateo.

Speaking of which, it had indeed been a while since she last contacted Mateo.

She didn't want to deal with Mateo anymore.

How dare he come to her company?

But he must have been going through a tough time lately.

"It's Mateo," she whispered to Harrison.

Harrison frowned slightly and thought, "So he is Adeline's gambling-addicted father?”

"Adeline. I'm your father. Do you dare to ignore me? Aren't you afraid of being scorned by the world?" Mateo said.

Upon hearing his voice, Adeline felt disgusted.

Just as she was about to say something, she

heard Harrison coldly say, "A father like you deserves to be scorned by the world."

"You..."

Seeing Harrison, Mateo clearly felt intimidated.

But having reached a dead end, he still mustered the courage to say, "You must be Mr. Thomson, right? Mr. Thomson, no matter how rich or powerful you are, our family matters have nothing to do with you, right? As an outsider, you shouldn't meddle in our relationship," Mateo said.

As soon as he finished speaking, Adeline said, "He's not an outsider."

Mateo was instantly stunned.

Harrison was also taken aback for a moment; then a wave of joy surged in his heart.

She said he wasn't an outsider.

Harrison was so happy.

"Oh, I was wondering why you're so bold now. It turns out you're with him." Mateo's face twisted.

"I knew you two definitely weren't just a simple boss-employee relationship. Adeline, oh Adeline, you've climbed such a high branch. How can you bear to see your old father live like this? We are family."

"You never treated me like a daughter, so I have no reason to treat you like a father,"

Adeline said coldly. "I've told you before that l've been more than generous with you."

She took a deep breath and continued, "Mateo, stop pretending to be righteous. To you, Janiyah and Millie are your family. When have I ever been considered family to you?"

"But now, I only have you!" Mateo screamed.

Millie went to prison, and as for Janiyah, Mateo didn't know where she ran off to.

Janiyah previously said she would go to the Thomson Group to cause trouble for Adeline.

But later, something happened at the Thomson Group, and Janiyah suddenly disappeared. Mateo couldn't contact her at all.

Mateo thought, "That damn woman must have gotten some benefit from the Thomson Group and abandoned me to run away alone”

“You’re thinking too much,” Adeline said. “I won’t care about you anymore.”
