One night stand with my president (chapter 256)

Chapter 256: Don't Compete with Me

"Sorry," Adeline said. "I don't think I can be of any help to Mr. Mendoza."

"Miss Hensley, we sincerely want to ask for your help," said Alberto's assistant.

"I am sorry."

"Please reconsider. We can agree to whatever conditions you have," said Alberto's assistant.

Adeline smiled and said, "If I can't help Mr.

Mendoza, I won't set any conditions. I have other things to attend to. Goodbye."

With that, she hung up the phone.

Adeline was afraid if she didn't hang up, the man on the other end would keep pressing.

And no matter how much he persisted, it would just be a waste of time.

But Adeline didn't expect Alberto to find her at all.

Just then, her phone rang again.

Adeline's first reaction was that it was the same man calling again.

She frowned as she picked up the phone, but she noticed the number was slightly different from the previous one.

Adeline thought, "It seems it isn't the same man."

After thinking for a moment, Adeline answered the call.

"Hello, this is Adeline."

"Miss Hensley," came a pleasant male voice on the other end. "This is Alberto."

Adeline was taken aback.

Not because Alberto was personally calling her, but because the voice sounded oddly familiar as if she had heard it somewhere before.

But she quickly composed herself and said, "Mr. Mendoza, your assistant has already spoken to me. I'm really sorry, but I can't help with what you need."

Alberto was silent for a moment and then said, "I hope you will reconsider. At least, give me a chance to meet with you."

To be honest, Alberto's voice was very

earnest.

And hearing him speak this way, Adeline felt a strange softness in her heart.

For a moment, she even considered giving in.

But she quickly regained her composure.

It would be weird if she met with Alberto.

"I'm quite busy at the moment, and I truly can't help you. Please understand," Adeline said politely.

She heard Alberto sigh on the other end.

"Sorry for the interruption," Alberto said.

"It's fine."

After hanging up, Adeline sat on the sofa, holding her phone, and stared blankly for a while.

She had an indescribable feeling when she heard Alberto's voice, but she couldn't quite put it into words.

After a while, Adeline returned to her senses, put down her phone, and went to take a shower.

After her shower. Adeline wanted to draw the

curtains in her bedroom.

However, as soon as her hand touched the curtains, she noticed a black car parked downstairs.

She didn't recognize the car, and she had never seen it around here before.

Adeline thought, "Maybe someone was just visiting?"

She thought she was thinking too much.

But given the recent events, it was inevitable she would be more cautious.

She drew the curtains and checked again after half an hour, but the black car was gone.

She breathed a sigh of relief.

Maybe she was just imagining things.

Adeline returned to bed and picked up her phone, seeing a message from Harrison. And it was an adorable emoji.

Adeline couldn't help but smile.

Harrison had never used emojis before.

Not only that, he usually kept his messages brief and to the point.

Lately, however, he had been more talkative.

And now he was even sending emojis.

Adeline replied, [Where did you get that emoji?]

Harrison said, [I stole it from Sam.]

Then he quickly added, [Don't you like it?]

Adeline said, [It's not that. It just feels different from your usual style.]

Harrison said, [What was my usual style?)

Adeline said, [Very aloof. I didn't dare to say much to you.]

Harrison replied, [Really? I didn't realize I was aloof. When was I ever aloof with you?]

Adeline said, [Do you know what you're saying?]

They continued chatting about trivial things.

If this had been in the past, they would have

thought they were going crazy.

But now, they didn't find it tiresome at all.

Adeline started to sleepy and said, [l'm tired. I'm going to bed.]

Harrison replied, [Okay, sleep well.]

Adeline said, [You should go to bed early too. By the way, you don't need to pick me up tomorrow morning. I live so close to the office. I can walk.]

Harrison replied, [No way.]

Adeline said, [Why?]

Harrison looked at the word "why" on his phone screen, thinking that if he could see her in the morning, even just for a short while, he would be happy.

But he didn't say that out loud.

Instead, he replied, [| said no, and that's final.]

Adeline, seeing his somewhat childish reply, felt helpless.

Adeline replied, [Okay, call me when you're almost here tomorrow.]

Harrison said, [Sure, go to sleep. Goodnight.]

(Goodnight.)

After putting down her phone, Adeline quickly fell asleep.

What she didn't know was that the black car that had been parked downstairs hadn't left.

It was now parked out of her sight nearby.

And the person sitting in the car was Benjamin.

He was staring at his phone, looking at pictures of Adeline.

"Whitney..." he murmured.

At that moment, a man rushed over, opened the passenger door, and got into the car.

"Mr. Tillman, there are people from Harrison's team around here," the man said breathlessly.

"I've checked, and it's unlikely we can go up to see Miss Hensley."

Hearing this, Benjamin wasn't particularly upset.

He simply said, "It seems Harrison is indeed very protective of her, even sending people to guard near her home."

The man didn't dare to reply.

"But she has to become my woman."

Benjamin continued, "Even Harrison can't compete with me."

"What should we do now?"

Benjamin thought for a moment and said, "Let's leave for now."

He could find a way to forcefully meet Adeline.

But he was afraid it would scare her.

After all, she was his precious treasure that he had worked so hard to regain.

Benjamin couldn't bear to frighten her.

He thought, "Better to wait and find another opportunity."

"Understood."

The car slowly drove away.

As they passed by Adeline's building, Benjamin looked up at her window and murmured, "Whitney, wait for me. We'll be together again soon.

….

The next morning, Adeline received a message from a high school classmate.

[Adeline, how are you doing? We're planning a high school reunion. Do you have time to join us?]

Adeline replied, [Which day?]

(We haven't set a date yet, but it should be soon. If you're available, I'll let you know once we finalize the details.)

Adeline thought for a moment and replied, [l should be available. Let me know when you finalize the date.]

[Okay.]
