Chapter 262: She Belongs Only to Herself
The man who walked in exuded a strong and oppressive aura.
His malevolent gaze swept across the room.
When he saw Adeline sitting in the chair with no reaction, his face grew even darker.
He immediately walked towards Adeline.
Alberto recognized him as Harrison and took a step back, not blocking his way.
But Benjamin did not want him to get close to Adeline and blocked him just as he had blocked Alberto.
Harrison did not hesitate and immediately started fighting Benjamin.
Benjamin's two subordinates tried to help but were quickly knocked down by Georgia and Rowen, who had come with Harrison.
Despite Benjamin using all his strength, he was ultimately no match for Harrison and was soon defeated.
After Benjamin fell, Harrison ignored him and turned to pick up Adeline from the chair.
He carefully held her in his arms.
Anyone could see the pain and guilt on his face.
At this moment, Alberto also saw Adeline's face clearly.
He was stunned and thought, "Isn't this the woman I met in the hospital elevator? So, she is Miss Hensley?"
Actually, Adeline had not completely lost consciousness yet.
She was still holding on by the last thread.
Being lifted up, she sensed a familiar presence.
"Harrison..."
"It's me." Harrison said softly, "I'm here. Don't be afraid."
Hearing his voice, Adeline finally relaxed and fell into a deep sleep.
Harrison carried her out of the room.
Benjamin roared, "Harrison, you can't take her away. She belongs to me."
Harrison did not look back and only coldly replied, "She belongs only to herself."
Benjamin struggled to get up and tried to chase Harrison.
Alberto grabbed him.
"Enough!" Alberto said sternly, "How much longer do you intend to hurt her?"
Benjamin shook off his hand and said, "I never meant to hurt her."
"Then how did she end up like this?" Alberto asked coldly, "Wasn't she drugged by you?"
Benjamin took a deep breath and looked towards Hannah, who had been hiding in the corner since earlier.
Hannah was terrified and quickly said, "I won't do it again, sir. Please spare me. I can still help you. After all, I'm Adeline's classmate and I will surely be useful to you in the future..."
Benjamin signaled his two subordinates, who had just gotten up from the floor, to take Hannah away.
Hannah dared not resist and followed them out.
"Believe it or not, I never intended to hurt her," Benjamin said to Alberto.
"Even if you didn't administer the drug, I heard her scream for help just now," Alberto said. "If she didn't mind being with you, why would she shout for help? It shows she doesn't want to be with you. Forcing her to do something she doesn't want is harming her."
"I can't be without her," Benjamin shouted in frustration.
But he soon calmed down.
Benjamin adjusted his wrinkled clothes from the fight.
Then he asked Alberto, "Do you like her?"
"No," Alberto replied.
He did have a vague, indescribable
feeling towards Adeline, but he was sure it was not romantic.
"That's for the best," Benjamin said. "No one should try to stop me from being with her. If Harrison is standing between us, then I'll find a way to get rid of him."
Alberto frowned and thought, "Since when did Benjamin develop such deep feelings for Adeline?"
He was about to speak when Benjamin suddenly added,"You look very much like her."
In fact, Alberto and Whitney also resembled each other to some extent, which Benjamin had noticed from photos.
But since Alberto was a man with more rugged features, Benjamin had never thought of it in that way.
Adeline, however, was different.
Benjamin firmly believed Adeline was a treasure sent back to him by fate.
When he heard Benjamin's words, Alberto's gaze flickered with thought.
Harrison quickly brought Adeline to the hospital.
After examining Adeline, the doctor told Harrison, "Mr. Thomson, don't worry. Miss Hensley has been given a drug that causes unconsciousness, but it has no side effects. Once she wakes up, she'll be fine."
Harrison finally relaxed.
But looking at Adeline lying on the bed, he still felt distressed.
After the doctor left, Harrison sat by the bed and gently held Adeline's hand.
"It's all my fault," he said softly. "I should have protected you."
At that moment, the door to the ward was suddenly pushed open.
Harrison frowned and turned coldly to look.
When he saw that Bianca and Oliver had entered, his expression softened slightly.
"Mr. Thomson, how is Adeline?" Bianca asked anxiously.
Oliver had just told her that Harrison was
carrying Adeline into the hospital and that Adeline had fainted, which made Bianca panic.
She quickly inquired about Adeline's ward and came over.
Worrying about Adeline, she didn't even bother to knock on the door.
Although she was usually a bit scared of Harrison, Bianca's mind was entirely occupied with concerns for Adeline.
"She's fine," Harrison said, not wanting them to worry. "She'll be alright after some rest."
Hearing this, Bianca and Oliver finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"What happened?" Bianca asked cautiously.
Even though Harrison said Adeline would be fine after a nap, they couldn't just come to the hospital for no reason.
Harrison was silent for a moment and said,
"Don't worry. I will protect her."
Bianca nodded and didn't press further.
Since Harrison said so, she felt reassured.
"Well, we'll leave now," Bianca said.
"Okay."
Just as Bianca and Oliver were about to leave, they heard Harrison say, "Don't tell Lacey about this. She just had surgery not long ago. Don't worry her."
Bianca felt a warm touch in her heart.
Harrison was so considerate.
This showed that he truly cared about Adeline and treated her family as his own.
"Don't worry. We won't," Bianca said.
After Bianca and Oliver left, Harrison's phone rang.
He glanced at the caller ID and saw it was Sam calling.
He moved a bit away from the bed, answered the call, and asked quietly, "What's up?"
"Harrison, what's going on? I heard you just brought Miss Hensley to the hospital," Sam asked with concern. "Is everything fine? How is Miss Henslev now?"
"She's fine," Harrison said. "But Benjamin, the eldest son of the Tillman family, has his eyes on her."
"Why?" Sam asked, puzzled. "Is it because of Lance?"
Harrison frowned.
He initially thought so but then realized something was off.
If Benjamin had really wanted to help Lance, he could have just brought Lance back to Mugroaton quickly.
Benjamin didn't need to go through so much trouble targeting Adeline.
"It might not be. I've had people look into it,"
Harrison said.
Just now, he was focused on getting Adeline to the hospital as quickly as possible and didn't pay attention to anything else.
Now, he needed to start thinking about how to "deal with" Benjamin.
