Chapter 255: Good Shoot
Adeline felt the same.
If she had known that Harrison waited for her every time she worked late, her first reaction would have definitely been confusion, followed by nervousness.
After all, Adeline was too timid to even think that Harrison might have feelings for her.
She wouldn't have known why Harrison was waiting for her.
"So, did you start..."
Adeline didn't finish her question, but Harrison knew what she was asking.
He thought, "Have I liked her since a few years ago?"
Honestly, he didn't know because he hadn't considered it in that way.
Maybe he had liked Adeline for a long time.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have kept her things and waited for her when she worked late.
Thinking this way, Harrison felt a bit regretful.
It would have been better if he had realized it
earlier.
The elevator reached the parking floor, and Harrison stepped out.
Adeline followed him, walking beside him and chattering away with questions.
"Why aren't you talking? Are you shy?" Adeline asked.
"Come on, tell me. I'm really curious," Adeline said.
"If you don't say anything, I'll take it as a yes."
Harrison smiled helplessly.
He had never noticed that Adeline could be so talkative.
He thought, "She's quite lovely."
They had reached the car, and Harrison unlocked it and opened the passenger door.
"Get in the car," he said.
Adeline huffed with pride and said, "So you do talk to me after all." Harrison chuckled and ruffled her hair.
Just as Adeline was about to get in the car, she suddenly heard a strange noise from nearby.
Harrison heard it too.
They both looked in the direction of the noise and saw two burly men dragging a trembling man toward them.
The man being dragged was already bruised and was clutching a camera tightly.
Adeline frowned.
She recognized the two burly men as Harrison's bodyguards.
She thought, "So, is this man a paparazzo or a private detective? Is he there to take sneaky shots of me and Harrison?"
The two burly men dragged the man in front of her and Harrison. One of them said, "Mr.
Thomson, this man was just caught taking pictures of you and Miss Hensley."
The other burly man snatched the
camera from the man's hands and handed it
to Harrison.
Harrison and Adeline looked at the photos.
Indeed, the pictures were of them coming out of the elevator just moments ago.
"Please, spare me.." the man begged in terror. "I was just doing my job to earn a living. I won't do it again. Please let me go."
Harrison didn't seem particularly angry.
He merely held the camera and asked lightly,
"Who sent you to take these pictures of us?"
The man hesitated, clearly reluctant to answer.
One of the burly men kicked him harshly.
"Speak up if you want to keep alive."
The man, having just been beaten, could no longer hold out and said, "I... I'll tell you. I don't know who he really is, but he's a foreigner. He paid me to take pictures of Mr. Thomson and the woman with him...
Harrison and Adeline exchanged a glance.
"Take him away and hand him over to Rowen. Let Rowen investigate thoroughly," Harrison told the bodyguards.
"Yes, sir."
The man was dragged away by the bodyguards.
Harrison and Adeline got into the car.
"A foreigner? Could it be Lance's brother?"
Adeline frowned.
Harrison looked at the photos and said, "It's possible. It could also be someone from the Mendoza family."
As the Mendoza family had moved abroad, their associates could be foreigners.
So it was not clear whether it was Benjamin or Alberto who hired someone to spy on them.
"What's wrong with the Mendoza family?"
Adeline asked.
"The Mendoza family is related to the chairman of Aprico Group," Harrison continued looking at the photos. "It's likely that Alberto was involved."
Adeline nodded. "I see."
She knew that Harrison had been dealing with Aprico Group lately.
After all, they had stolen the Thomson Group's new product.
If they had angered Harrison, they needed to be ready to face the consequences.
Soon, the Aprico Group would be acquired by the Thomson Group.
Adeline noticed that Harrison kept looking at the photos and couldn't help but ask, "Why do you keep looking at these photos?"
"Because they turned out quite well," Harrison said.
After all, the photos featured him and Adeline, so, in a way, they were pictures of them together.
Adeline chuckled, "You're actually praising the paparazzi photos? Aren't you the one who hates being photographed?"
Harrison said, "It depends on the photos." If they were just of him, he'd definitely be unhappy.
But if they were of him and Adeline, he wanted to keep those photos.
And there was one photo where he was looking at Adeline.
When he saw that photo, Harrison couldn't help but stare for a moment.
Even he hadn't realized that the affection in his eyes when looking at Adeline was so evident.
"Alright." Adeline tugged at his sleeve and said, "Stop looking. Let's go eat. I'm hungry."
Hearing that she was hungry, Harrison immediately put down the camera and started the car.
"What do you want to eat?" Harrison asked.
"Barbecue," Adeline said.
Harrison had previously been reluctant to eat barbecue.
It wasn't that he disliked it. He just hated the smell it left on him after eating.
But now, he had no complaints about accompanying Adeline to the barbecue.
"Pick a place and give me the address," Harrison said.
"Okay."
After the barbecue, Harrison took Adeline home.
As soon as Adeline got home, she wanted to rush into the bathroom to shower as she smelled strongly of barbecue.
Just as she took off her coat, her phone rang.
She picked up the phone to see an unfamiliar number.
"Hello?"
"Hello, is this Miss Hensley?" The voice on the other end was a man's, polite but with a slightly odd accent.
"Yes, who's that?"
"Miss Hensley, I'm Mr. Alberto Mendoza's assistant."
Adeline wasn't very familiar with the name.
But since it was from the Mendoza family, she naturally thought of what Harrison had
mentioned before.
"May I ask what this is regarding?" Adeline asked politely.
"Mr. Mendoza has a request for you. Could you meet with him?"
Adeline could easily guess what Alberto wanted her for.
It was definitely about Aprico Group, but she couldn't help with that.
