Chapter 235: Believe Milania
Wyatt gritted his teeth and said, "I chased her for four years back then. She never accepted me, but she never rejected me either. She just kept stringing me along for four years...”
But he had to admit that Milania was truly beautiful when she was young, and she knew how to play the game.
And precisely because Wyatt chased her for four years without ever getting her, Milania became his unattainable ideal.
Over the years, Milania didn't contact him much.
She would only send greetings during holidays and special occasions.
But every time Wyatt received a message from Milania, his heart would skip a beat.
Even though he was already middle-aged, he still couldn't fully let go of Milania.
So this time, when Milania asked for his help, he didn't hesitate much before agreeing.
Deep down, he still hoped to get Milania's attention, fulfilling the dream he had since his youth.
But when he was brought to the Thomson family, fear set in.
"Oh, now I remember, so it was you." Milania casually flipped her hair and said "You did chase me all through college, but I don't think I ever agreed to date you, did I? Gosh, it's hard to recall.
That was so many years ago. I've been married for so long now. How could I remember right away?"
Milania smiled at Ashton and then turned to Harrison, saying, "Harrison, you know how good my relationship with Ashton is. Why would I go digging up memories of a suitor who never meant anything to me?"
"So, you're not planning to admit to anything?" Harrison's gaze turned cold.
"You're trying to pin a crime on me based on a few baseless words. How am I supposed to admit to something like that?" Milania shrugged helplessly.
Then she turned to Lorenzo and said, "Dad, I don't know what I did to upset Harrison, but it seems like he's using Miss Hensley's situation to attack me. If I did something wrong, I'll apologize to him. There's no need for this drama." Lorenzo didn't respond but turned to look at Ashton.
Ashton seemed to be struggling internally, but finally, he stepped forward and pulled Milania behind him.
"Dad, I believe Milania," Ashton said. "And of course, I trust that Harrison wouldn't falsely accuse her. There's been some kind of misunderstanding."
"Yes, exactly." Ronan said awkwardly, "It must be Wyatt causing trouble. We can't trust him."
Even though he said that, Ronan wasn't entirely confident.
After all, this was the result of Harrison's investigation.
If it were someone else, maybe it wouldn't matter. But this was Harrison's investigation...
Ronan didn't want to doubt his mother, but he also didn't dare question Harrison, so he was in immense emotional pain.
Both Harrison and Adeline noticed his turmoil.
They exchanged a glance.
Then Adeline walked over to Isaline and said,
"Mr. Ronan hasn't fully recovered yet. Could you take him back to his room to rest?"
"Okay." Isaline quickly nodded.
"I'm not going." Ronan's eyes reddened.
"Adeline, there's no way my mom did this. You believe me, right?"
Adeline's heart softened for a moment.
After all, Ronan was innocent.
But Milania's true colors were already starting to show.
If things weren't exposed today, no one knew what else she might do in the future.
Originally, they hadn't wanted Ronan to know the truth.
But on second thought, they couldn't hide it.
Sooner or later, Ronan would have to face the truth.
But judging by how things were now, Ronan was close to losing control of his emotions.
It was best to get him out of here for now.
"You should go rest," Adeline said softly.
"No, I..."
"Ronan, go to your room," Lorenzo interrupted.
His tone was deep, with a commanding force that couldn't be disobeyed.
Ronan didn't dare defy him and let Isaline wheel him out of the living room.
As Milania stood behind Ashton, she was seething with hatred toward Harrison and Adeline.
If it hadn't been for them, perhaps the Thomson family would have been in her grasp by now.
After Ronan and Isaline left, Lorenzo said, "This matter needs to be cleared up today so there's no lingering confusion."
"I swear I'm telling the truth." Wyatt said,
"Milania was the one who ordered me."
"Do you have proof?" Lorenzo asked.
"Of course I do. I.."
"Enough." Ashton suddenly shouted angrily, "I said I believe Milania. She would never do something like this. Enough with that."
Ashton was usually mild-mannered, rarely even arguing with anyone.
Even in the company, he hardly ever criticized his subordinates.
Lorenzo had never seen Ashton like this before.
Now his eyes were bloodshot as he shielded
Milania protectively, as if afraid someone might harm her.
Milania hadn't expected Ashton to defend her so fiercely.
After all, he was standing against not only his father, whom he respected, but also Harrison, the head of the Thomson Group.
Yet for her, he had taken a stand against both of them.
Ashton trembled slightly. When he met
Harrison's gaze, he instinctively averted his eyes.
"Dad, I'm taking Milania home," Ashton said, taking a deep breath.
Lorenzo looked at him, sighed, and said, "Ashton, you might avoid it for now, but you can't run forever. Why not face the reality?"
He recalled that when Ashton was born, he was so weak that the doctors weren't sure if he would survive.
Lorenzo had searched far and wide for the best doctors.
And even though he never believed in superstition, he sought out divination.
A seer told Lorenzo not to worry, as when Ashton grew older, he would get better.
Because of Ashton's poor health, Lorenzo had always shown him extra care.
Fortunately, with the help of various renowned doctors, Ashton grew up safely, and his health improved as he matured.
Later, Ashton met Milania and insisted on
marrying her.
Lorenzo and his wife hadn't been fond of Milania, but Ashton was adamant, so they had no choice but to agree.
But now, things had finally come to a head.
Hearing Lorenzo's words, Ashton clenched his teeth and suddenly turned to look at Adeline.
In a pleading tone, he said, "Miss Hensley, this matter isn't that serious. You're safe and sound, right? Since it's not a big deal, why pursue it any further?"
After Ashton finished speaking, Harrison suddenly said coldly, "Ashton, this isn't about Miss Hensley insisting on investigating. It's me who's determined to get to the bottom of this."
